I got Covid 27th Nov last year it still has not returned properly and have phantm smells as well. A horrible smell that isn't actually real. I can smell some sweet things but that's it.

Hubster had Covid October 2020 and lost his smell and taste.

Taste is back but smells still isn't back to normal.

He keeps randomly smelling cigarette smoke as well

Had mine go in July. Taste seems to be more bland than it was but smell still no where near what it used to be.

Its a bit worrying how long it could be.

I also wonder how many peoples senses are affected permanently from it.

Mine still isn't back and it's been 2 months. I went to buy a new perfume last week and I could feel a tickle in my nose but still no smell. Fresh orange juice I can kind of taste, but just a hint.

Mine was a couple of weeks to come back properly. A colleague has been having issues for over a year though.

Mine was gone for 6-8 weeks, but hasn't come back 100%. Hubby still doesn't have his back. We both had covid in the last week of July this year, for context.

I don’t know if I’ve had Covid, but I’ve lost my taste/smell and have had to go back to using inhalers, so I’m wondering if I did, although I do test with lfts.

Have you suddenly started listening to Rick Astley?

It took around 4 months for my sense of smell to come back but it’s weaker than pre-covid.

I hope it’s quicker for you.

Lou x

I tested positive last Sunday and my taste and smell were the first to go. Since then it's been Mr Coughy and a runny nose but otherwise that's it. I'm hoping that I'm over the worst and will test negative soon!

Lost mine for about a week to 10 days. Wasn't sure if it came back 100% at first but eventually did after a few weeks.

Just this 1 symptom and uncertain legacy of Covid, highlights an aspect of how how much worse it is than just being like a cold, that some try to say it's like.

Hope you're all going to recover fully, in the near term too

Same here, for me it was the worst bit. Took about a month for it to return fully. Hope that's not the case for you.

We both had covid last December and I couldn’t smell for weeks and could smell smoke for a couple of months. So annoying as I have up smoking 10 years ago.

Taste was there but strange things I liked before I no longer did like favourite coffee tasted terrible.

Had covid over a year ago, taste came back within a week. My sense of smell is messed up. A nurse told me that if it isn’t back to normal within 6 months then it’s never going to return back

I get the random smoke smell too! Can't stand it.

I had covid back in January, very mild,no other post viral problems.

My covid experience was very mild and the resulting post viral loss of taste and smell is no biggie at all. I was 60 when I got it and back to work after two weeks.

I lost my sense of smell briefly when I had it, however I lose my sense of smell all the time when I'm sick(or from hayfever, or a strong sneeze). Sinus infections galore, the joys of having had my nose broke boxing a few times
