Exactly 2 years ago I stopped clubbing and socialising. At the the time I had a funny feeling the coming winter was going to bring a very bad flu epidemic.

2 years on and the world is a totally different even alien place.

It won't be the same again I think.

Exactly this.

The prevailing attitude is currently back to Normal as opposed to new normal.

Other than masks, showing Covid Certs and extra paperwork when flying, things are back to normal for us.

Really? Most people still walking around the supermarket in masks, screens and signs still everywhere, having to show your 'COVID status' to get into events, children now being coerced into taking the job, still virtually impossible to get a face-to-face doctor's appointment... And let's face it, restrictions will be reintroduced in the winter at the first sign of our beloved NHS being "overwhelmed".

This IS the new normal.

Things have changed for always.

Tin foil hats are saying it's all about control of the masses, keeping us home, and bumping off the non productives...

Guess it's up to each of us to be careful while trying to live our best lives.

That can vary depending on where you live / shop.

In the area of London I live it’s the other way round, ie more people wearing masks in shops than those without one.

Yes it's that plus wages.

You missed the minimum wage bit out to be surrounded by death on a daily base all the way through the panemic.

My wife's experience by the way.

Thanks NHS for the 3 infected patients you sent to the home.

You must have a very poor GP. Mine is even easier to see now than they were pre-covid. I send them a short description of my symptoms via the NHS app, which links to a service that sends a message to my surgery. Within half a working day one of the doctors phones me for a short chat, then either directly diagnoses me and sends a prescription directly to my local pharmacy, or gives me an appointment to see them in person the next day. They even got a three day turn around with an opinion from a specialist, by sending info and pics via computer - something that formerly might have taken a month on a waiting list and a day off work for an hospital appointment.

Your doctor needs to get updated into the twenty first century!

People don’t want to and why should they, none of these rules apply to the rich and the elite for some reason. If you feel uncomfortable your best to stay at home and be safe.

I find it funny how people who think everyone should still wear masks now but before the pandemic never used to wear them when the common cold or flu was prevalent.

Because the cold and flu have lower death rates

The vast majority of people are safe from both infections so didn't care

Now they think they're at risk personally they've all developed compassion, empathy and want to 'protect others'

I only made an observation based on the supermarkets I frequent.

You are talking about the rich and the elite who most probably do not even set foot at the places I shop. Now this is funny.

You have to start thinking without putting on every argument the social inequalities because this clouds your judgement.

I do not feel uncomfortable, I am double vaccinated. I am reasonable. Wearing a mask and practicing social distancing af a closed space like a supermarket during a pandemic is more reasonable than staying at home.

I am getting on with life. I am vaccinated and I go out. And you, who probably advocate to get on with life, you suggest that people stay at home if they feel uncomfortable? It is like you are contradicting yourself.

Exactly. This is why the vast majority got vaccinated. We are doing a favour to the rest who claim they want to live free. Cause otherwise it would be very long until people would return to some kind of normality.

Compassion and empathy… You either have it or you do not have it. You do not develop it. Maybe you do though as a side effect ot the covid vaccine

Many of the people who get vaccinated understand that the covid risk is higher than the risk of having complications or die from the common cold or the flu. And many of the people who have compassion and empathy care about other people vaccinated or unvaccinated, young or old, healthy or not from contacting the covid virus because of them.

As for the flu, I am going to get the vaccine as an extra protection. For myself. Not because I want to protect others. However, the covid situation taught me to a few lessons and next time I have a common cold or flu I will try to be more considerae towards my colleagues by wearing a mask.

Masks do actually reduce the spread by reducing the distance your body emits virus particles.

To use your own analogy, next time you need to pee try it with your underpants on and see how much they retain and how far you can pee

This is true but if you are the only one in a store with a mask on it has no real benefit to you! So the fewer wearing them the less point in wearing one. And I do feal we are on and likes slope.
