"Same although the L F T aren't very accurate. Just get a proper test booked to be sure." If you get a positive from an LFT then you are almost certainly positive but a negative doesn't mean you are clear. As other posters say get a PCR test.

Yes, a negative LFT is a maybe, and a positive is a yes. PCR is definitive.

"As far as I know, an LFT can present a positive result 90 days after you have overcome Covid-19." Track and trace told me exactly this. They told me Do not take another lft or pcr test for 90 days after having covid. I asked multiple times and was repeated told this.

"There is something very important to know. Symptoms of double vaccinated people are different. Top 5 Headache, sneezing running nose ,sore throat and tiredness All the same Symptoms as colds going round. If you have any of there symptoms you need to either call 111 or 119 get a PCR test because yiu may be covid positive and not know it" That is a really good point... This is from the bupa site... Symptoms for none, 1 jab or 2 jabs are different.... https://www.bupa.co.uk/newsroom/ourviews/delta-variant-symptoms So far, the evidence shows that Delta symptoms may be different and vary in severity depending on whether you’ve had the vaccine or not. According to the data from the ZOE app, the top five symptoms if you’ve had two vaccinations are: headache runny nose sneezing sore throat loss of smell If you’ve had one vaccine, they are: headache runny nose sore throat sneezing persistent cough If you’ve not had the vaccine, the top five symptoms are: headache sore throat runny nose fever persistent cough

They told me Do not take another lft or pcr test for 90 days after having covid. I asked multiple times and was repeated told this. " That's not quite correct as LFT and PCR look for different things. PCR looks for viral RNA and enough of his can be detected long after infection to give a positive. That's why T&T say you can't have another PCR test until 90 days after infection. PCR positive does not mean you are either ill or infectious, just that enough fragments of viral RNA were detected to give a positive result. You could have had the infection months ago. LFT looks for active virus - antigens - You'll only see these during the active stage of infection ie when you're still contagious which is up to 9 days after infection. This is why you should isolate for 10 days if you have symptoms. You can do a lateral flow after 10 days but you should show a negative. You can find this information in various places but we have a friend who is a WHO epidemiologist and this info came from her.

"I had symptoms for 4 days and tested negative for those four days on LFT tests, had no temperature so thought it was something else, day 5 I tested positive on the LFT and also did a PCR that same day, 6 days later I tested negative on LFT. NHS told me don’t go near a pcr test for 90 days as it would more likely still show positive, not the LFT." Yeah and as the guy above said... The lfts don't need to wait 90 days. But not t and t calls I got told me not to do either pcr nor lfts...not a massive deal but would would be good if they shared correct information with us.

"So can anyone explain how my LFT was negative the day before I became ill and tested positive on PCR. We’re talking Wednesday night negative LFT (felt 100% fine) Thursday afternoon PCR test (I was symptomatic) with a positive result the day after. I’m not convinced LFT are accurate after my experience - which was the same for my kids btw" At a guess because whatever it tests for hadn't developed in your immune system on the weds... A day later it had?

I did daily LFT each day, didn’t get a positive until Thursday, and it was a very feint one at that. I had definitely had it since the weekend.

"I test regularly everyweek as I work in a nightclub. 4 days after my shift and again day before. I use lateral flows. Double jabbed to. I caught covid and my later flow picked it up, went for a pcr to confirm. Isolated and now I still test weekly with lateral flows. Stay safe everyone! X " How far removed are you from your jab if you don't mind me asking?

"I do an LFT and order a PCR. Isolate while I wait if I can." Same as the above. Lft's are not as accurate, they should be used as a frequent indicator whilst you wait for, and get the result of your PCR test. If you can work from home, communicate this with your employer, its in their interest not to risk an ill work force.

"Although there is a bad cold going round (as we’ve deconditioned our immune systems by wearing masks) so don’t be surprised if that’s all it turns out to be…!" Thats the danger as the cold has exactly the same symptoms as covid (Double Jabbed) so could be just a cold but could be covid and how many people could you infect if you don't test? Why i suspect reason for high number of cases, worse how many more are covid positive

We haven't deconditioned our immune systems with masks, there would be a lot of sick Dr's and nurses around. Colds are going round suddenly because we are not socially distancing not wearing masks and not being as good with our hand hygiene anymore. All the things that stop covid spreading stops colds too.

"The bizarre thing is... If its covid...most people seem OK to isolate and not spread it.. (of course there are still some twats who refuse)... If its a cough or cold... People seem to be... Oh that's OK I can go and spread that around? If you're ill, nobody wants your germs whatever they may be. " When I was younger and even pre covid, I thought it was ok to go to the office even if I had flu… And I did not mind if others turned sick at work. Many years ago, I had a colleague from Korea who turned up to the office wearing a face mask. The rest of us were looking at him as if he was an alien. Now with covid my mentality has changed. I have realized how wrong I was all these years. Covid taught me to be more conscious, careful and respectful towards others.

Direct from the instruction sheet in the Acon-Flowflex test kit (NHS test and trace):: "This COVID-19 self-test kit is a swab test for the nose to check if you are infectious. It is for people who have symptoms as well as those with no symptoms" Apparently only around 20% of those testing register the result.
