A covid death

Blyth

A good friend of mine has just lost his sister to covid. She was a bubbly, bright, perfectly healthy woman in her 40's.

She took ill about 3 weeks ago and was fighting it as we all would. She developed bloodclots and had to be hospitalised. A few days ago her symptoms worsened and she was moved into icu. In the last 48 hours she had to be placed into an induced coma and put on life support as her lungs were struggling to cope.

This morning she died. A fit, healthy woman in her 40's with no underlying conditions...... dead.

She hadn't taken the vaccine when it was offered as she thought she was young and healthy enough to fight it off.

Her husband and kids are devastated as are the rest of her family and her friends.

I'm not posting this to encourage people to get vaccinated or prove points for or against vaccines. These choices are yours alone to make. All I'm doing is letting people know of one woman's story. What you take from it is up to you.

So very sad to hear this. Firemen who are young and healthy have similarly died. Humans aren't great at risk analysis and this virus has confounded many experts, as we've learned more and seen how it's changed.

this is very saddening, but cut the shit with labelling everyone who doesnt want this vaccine as anti-vax. I have all my other vaccines but im not taking this one. If i die from covid because i refused to take the vaccine thats my problem not yours, i dont want or care about your concern.

put it to rest already and stop cherry picking instances to suit your moral high ground to get the vaccine, its pathetic. Im not just directing this at you, this is to everyone else doing the same.

Not everyone who doesnt want the vaccine is a crazy anti vax conspiracy theorist , pull your head out your arses.

have a wonderful day and stay safe

Could you explain why you’re not having this particular vaccine then?.. As the only reasons I have seen for willingly not doing so are based completely on misunderstanding or anti-vax conspiracy theories

"It’s his personal and private business? "

Then why is he talking about it on a public forum? He doesn't have to answer if he doesn't want to, but bringing up a subject and then getting annoyed that people ask you questions is very silly.

And ultimately, the only good reason not to have the covid vaccine is if it's not medically safe for a particular individual to do so due to their personal health conditions.

Concerns like "it's not been properly tested!" are just as false and vapid as the most ridiculous Bill Gates Microchip conspiracy theory.

My foster brother also died last week in prison. They found blood clots and he 3 heart attacks on the day he died.

He was only 39. I don't know if he took the vaccine. But as he hadn't had any previous health issues or heart related issues at all my family have asked for it to be looked into

This is type of case I know of. Having been in a similar situation healthy lady in her believed the anti-vax crap and has now passed also, and since then a few others.

I try not to get angry with them, but I don't get what's in it for them apart from some desperate need for attention and some kind of validation. You don't wan't to take vaccine it your choice and you take the risks. Trying to convince others not to, well enough said.

100% This.

Those people insisting that everyone should get vaccinated (or coercing those that don't want to) are every bit as bad as the true anti-vaxxers spreading lies.

The vaccine isn't 100% safe, so let's not pretend it is. Once accepting it's not 100%, each person must make their own judgment. Some will get it wrong but that's ok - that's what a free society is.

My own risk assessment has led me to be double jabbed. Others may legitimately arrive at a different conclusion.

Overall I don't like anecdotal evidence as it proves little.

This goes both ways and whilst I'm a dinosaur I don't think we should use social media (even this forum) to publicise individuals personal tradgies.

It just feels in bad taste unless you are the individual impacted.

Like I say I'm a dinosaur and keep personal and family stuff to myself rather than post it online.

Why would I be waiting for that? I clearly stated in the post you replied to that I've had mine.

Not everyone who doesnt want the vaccine is a crazy anti vax conspiracy theorist , pull your head out your arses.

Every single person who refuses the vaccine is a crazy person or just plain stupid. Worrying about the long term effects would be ok if it wasnt for the fact that we know there almost certainly wont be any - there is no mechanism by which it could have any long term damaging effects beyond the tiny risks we already know like blood clots from AZ etc...

The vaccine is safe. Get it.

There isn't one vaccine there's different types. Its not a case of 'it'.

People have died from them. That's an undisputed fact.

People have been disabled by them. Again Fact.

Yes, the risk is low. But people like you shouting that it's completely safe and anyone that thinks differently is crazy or stupid are as much part of the problem as people who say it's got magnets in it.

The truth is somewhere between the two: the vaccines seem to be doing a good job with a relative low risk.

Who are you to determine someone else's risk?

As I have said to those against the vaccine, berating or insulting those with doubts does not bring them to your side of the debate.

If anything it entrenches their position.

If you call someone stupid or crazy then you may as well post antivax propoganda as insulting someone is no help at all.

Constantly calling people stupid and racist while refusing to even listen to or acknowledge the real world issues that people were facing is what allowed Brexit to happen.

Its this kind of idiocy that drives people's frustrations. The risks of any of the vaccines are dozens to hundreds of times less risky than contracting covid (when you look at various YC reactions and there statistical likelihood).

Just get a vaccine. It's safe and simple and there is no logical reason not to unless you have a medical reason that means you cant such as an allergy or previous adverse reaction to vaccines.

OP, this is such a sad story and my thoughts are with you and your friends husband and children.

Whilst I fully agree that it is every adults choice to have (or not have) the vaccine, people must also remember that when we make such choices we can deprive others of a choice.

In the case of someone choosing not to have the COVID vaccines, the NHS doctors and nurses fighting to save a life that needn't have been at risk had no choice, the family losing a loved one had no choice, the patient having their operation canceled yet again because hospital resources were being focused on COVID patients, had no choice.

We should never lose the freedom to choose but we should never forget to consider the impact of those choices on others.

Freedom of choice is not idiocy.

There's plenty of historical examples of a drug has been touted as safe which has later been shown to cause some significant issues.

I'm not saying it will or even it's likely, but it's a possibility.

And all this to fight a disease that poses very little risk to young healthy people.

I've done my assessment and had my jabs. Other people should be entitled to do likewise without others insulting them

"It’s his personal and private business?

Then why is he talking about it on a public forum? He doesn't have to answer if he doesn't want to, but bringing up a subject and then getting annoyed that people ask you questions is very silly.

And ultimately, the only good reason not to have the covid vaccine is if it's not medically safe for a particular individual to do so due to their personal health conditions.

Concerns like "it's not been properly tested!" are just as false and vapid as the most ridiculous Bill Gates Microchip conspiracy theory.

Maybe he has lost someone to the vaccine or they've been left with long term health issues because of it...

Food for thought maybe

Not everything is as black and white as alot of people seem to think

In my opinion there are alot of reasons soneone may or may not be vaccinated but that is that individuals choice and they should never be judged or questioned for it....

Again just my opinion

Jane

Let's get something right.

No vaccine or any form of medication is 100% safe.

If you are waiting for a 100% safe ticket you're waiting for utopia and it doesn't exist.

Why would I be waiting for that? I clearly stated in the post you replied to that I've had mine.

What I said was it is unethical to pressure someone into doing something that isn't 100% safe. Everyone is entitled to choose their own level of risk they are comfortable with."

Exactly.

The 100% safe bit.

Doesn't exist, better not wander out the door or use any electrical equipment or those computer things, could explode and kill you to death.

Life is a constantly rolling risk assessment, to some potholing is an acceptable risk where others meeting up with swingers from a swinging site poses all sorts of anxieties.

We all have to make our own judgement and decide what risk is personally acceptable but to search for 100% is unachievable.

Take care.

Passed Beyond Reach

"

I try not to get angry with them, but I don't get what's in it for them apart from some desperate need for attention and some kind of validation. You don't wan't to take vaccine it your choice and you take the risks. Trying to convince others not to, well enough said.

Just because you don't know, understand or agree with people's reasons doesn't make them invalid, or "attention seeking".

Your last sentence I agree with, but cuts both ways. It's also not acceptable to try and coerce those that don't want one into having it."

My reference to "attention seeking" was to the need to come into a forum on adult site peddling anti vax rhetoric.

If they don't want the vaccine that's their choice. Why do they need to come here and try to coerse others unless it is for "attention seeking" and "validation" of their choices.

If they are seeking "validation", they are in doubt about their own rhetoric which worst posible as they putting others health and life at risk in something they don't fully believe in themselves. How low is that.

Having the vaccine or not is a choice, Trying to convice others not to have the vaccine is lowlife.

I'm not so sure. But one thing to ponder on are the facts that if you have a double jab and are aged 40 to 79. You are more likely to have been infected than if you have not had a vax at all.these are facts from the phe own vax surveillance report. So I'm far from convinced that is something to consider when people throw insults at others who are not yet Vaxed.

I'm not taking any notice but thank you for your kind words.

The last paragraph of my original post explained why I posted this. Sadly there appears to be a few people who either never read to the end or are just too tied up in their own narrative that no one else matters to them. Quite sad really.
