I just seen an article that said a senior government just confirmed that the government has drawn up plans for a winter lockdown..

I have had my jab because they told us that's the only way out this pandemic and that's the only way to avoid lockdown..

Over 39 million people have had both jabs and yet the government are planning on a winter lockdown..

As much as a think the anti vaxxers Nd conspiracy theorists are a bunch of lunatics, you can't help but wonder. Why tell us to take a vaccine then over 65% of the entire population takes the vaccine (fully vaccinated) and yet you still want to lock the country down.. Something fishy

I am pretty sure there will be another lockdown in the autumn. 'Cases' will inevitably go up, there could be more flu and other viruses because lockdown suppressed it and weakened our immune systems, and there's the massive NHS backlog. Why do you think the government wants to extend its emergency powers for another six months?

A few weeks to flatten the curve. A tier system last year. Lose November to save Xmas. Lose Xmas to save Easter. Vaccinate the vulnerable for freedom. Vaccinated adults for freedom. I agree, it’s all about hospital admissions now, we are at 7,500 we peaked at 38,500 in January, if we get anywhere near 30,000 it looks like they will have to act

It's not a published official plan. It's certainly right that the government should have contingency measures in place, including for nuclear war. It does not mean that they will be implemented of course.

The 2 measures we have are vaccines or restrictions. Neither are guaranteed to eliminate all risk but to reduce it. Vaccines are optional and, as the virus changes, there's no certainty about how either will affect life.

The vaccines have had phenomenal impact on reducing sevrre illness and death levels

. If more people had them, we'd have even greater reductions and tighter control over the effects on our lives and the UK.

If we don't have them all vaccinated, we have to be prepared to accept the consequences of what has to be done to reduce the impact on life.

Don't focus on spurious leaks. Do what you can to help lives

I've seen multiple reports on this as well, they are thinking of increasing October half term for two weeks instead of one so the kids can have two weeks off school and we will all be locked down again. Very worrying.

When things have been leaked before, they do often come into fruition, it's my belief that the leeks are sometimes actually to soften the blow and help us prepare for bad news so it's not such a shock.

Yea why make plans if you don't intend to use them?

Part of the reason we were so badly prepared for this pandemic was because a lot of people thought that way. Every major govt and local govt institution and department has a disaster or emergency planning committee, many of them used to laugh when they got to the pandemic planning section on the list and say "well that's never going to happen", the ones who did take it seriously basically made plans of where to store the bodies.

I think vaccines are necessary for us to avoid lockdowns. But may not be sufficient. Could we have been out of lockdown if there hadn't been vaccines ?

But vaccines may not be enough. I'd hope that they allow us to not go full lockdown but something in-between. If also hope HMG have been seeking to understand where and when transmission risks are higher... But I'm doubtful.
