Having been away 3 times in 6 weeks it does put you on edge the day of the test. But very few people are testing positive. We have been to Gran Canaria, magaluf and the algarve.

As long as you keep your self safe as much as you can there’s no reason why you would catch it.

Of the people I’ve seen that have had to quarantine it’s been the children of teenage years that have caught it and the whole family has had to stay.

Don’t let the fear stop you going away

My opinion if you go abroad and catch something.

You should stay abroad until symtoms have gone.

So with covid its 10 days waiting time if you miss your return flight tough pay for it yourself.

You also get to use the coutrys medical facilities and its not like the uks.

Not insured enjoy your expensive medical bills.

If you return early your a selfish git and shouldnt be allowed on a plane to spread it to other plane members on there.

On return please do enjoy your 1,000 hotel bill.

note airlines have a right to refuse you on the airplane.

I’m going to Greece in a few weeks. I’ll take a test before I go to the airport. If it’s positive I’ll extend my holiday by 10 days and stay with friends. It’s slowest bern arranged as a plan b. I also have very extensive COVID cover on my travel insurance

I have a friend who recently went to the Ballearics and the day before coming home, his teenage son tested positive. He and his mum stayed there, moved to a new hotel, for 10 days whilst my mate and his daughter came home. All covered by the insurance.its the risk you take going away.

San Fernando, Gran Canaria

I think I read that Canary Islands has extended the insurance scheme (for want of a better word) in case one tests positive while away.

Also, there is very little COVID-19 here, the reason behind Level increase is to stop the hospitals becoming overwhelmed. On the 19th the levels will be looked at again and I'm quite confident that the level will drop again.

Plus the kids will be going back to school soon as well, so less chance of it being spread.

Our numbers are going down.

Our vaccines are going up.

As a poster above said, follow the rules, masks, social distancing, hand gel and it will be fine we are almost at 70% vaccined here too. I would be more nervous going back to the UK then here. I would say at the moment almost every 2nd person you come across is a tourist withtesrs and/or vaccines or a local with vqccines

I'd assumed that you could only fly back if your test was negative. You'd have to consult the government website for your state, to find the exact rules. It could ruin tens of people's holidays and return to work, at the airport and on board, as well as anyone you meet before home and the hospital.

We are off to Gran Canaria beginning of September.

Taking a few LFT with us so we can self test before turning up to the pharmacy for the post departure test. If we test positive will stay and test until we are negative, that way we can isolate ourselves.

After having travelled 3 times long haul now this year, my advice for any potential travelers would be this. Travel only if you are prepared that you may potentially need to extend your trip due to covid related factors.

I’ve had to extend one trip due to flight issues and one trip due to catching COVID. All our trips have been great and we are booking to travel again later this year. But I would advise you need to be prepared you may have to stay longer than you originally planned. So make sure you have the money and also you are able to avoid work, sort childcare etc in the event you are delayed.

Also, to anyone taking LFT tests while away, be aware that the sensitivity of these compared to the PCR test needed to return home are vastly different. We tested positive on the PCR but negative on the LFT.

On return please do enjoy your 1,000 hotel bill.

note airlines have a right to refuse you on the airplane.

You are a bundle of laughs. Wow. So negative. I totally agree with him why go abroad at this moment and if you do and catch COVID-19 then tough stay were you are and pay .

If you've got insurance any hotel cost will be covered.

Most insurance have this cover, if not get another insurance company.

Not too sure if Canaries have the Covid cover still in place or was that just Lanzarote.

Unless it turns red, when insurance would be invalid, we are off.

Just come back from Spain the number of people doing NHS covid tests prior to doing there proper ones is unreal,

I think if they test positive most said they would just swab sombody else and send That off

When we were in the UK about to come over we self isolated prior to travel. But we worked from home so it was something we were practically doing anyway.

"Has anyone travelled to Spain and tested positive before returning?

There was a story on the BBC app a couple of days ago. Glad I went to Blackpool tbh"

My ex is just back from Blackpool and has tested positive!

Presume he means took LFT with them to test themselves prior to doing the PCR test to fly home. We did same on a recent trip actually

kinky land

We've bought our lfts from home and are still testing as well as the ones I bought from chronomics to officially come home with

We haven't stopped our mask wearing/ space/ hand hygiene, just because we are not inside our homes 4 walls.

If you've booked with a travel agent like tui they've added covid cover and many destinations have covid cover so whilst worse case you may have to go into isolation it shouldn't cost the average family anything additional financially (Obviously time will be lost)

Getting the kids away was absolutely worth the risks and was very much needed after the last 18 months.

Take a few LFT kits with you.

On the day you go to do the return to UK 72 hour test just use your NHS LFT, if positive stay a bit longer on hols until you test negative and then go to clinic to get test or do the online variety.

I’m going to get a test done before I depart Ireland 5-7 days before departing.

After that if negative I’ll do a LFT 2-3 days before departing

I know it may seem over kill be it’s better to be safe than sorry

Staying in the UK rather than take the risk, and spending my money on local businesses who need it. England is beautiful in the summer, so always prefer to go abroad in the winter.
