So with the CDC confirming that only 25 to 28% of black people having been vaccinated and now NYC and CA mandating vax for restaurants, pubs and literally every day life - the black community is yet again the ones that will suffer the most. I'm hoping that major efforts to inform and encourage black people to get vaccinated are going to continue, as well as to help them regain some trust in their systems.

If the vaccine is widely available to these communities then I don't see it as segregation.

It's a choice.

More work needs to be done with these communities to help them trust the authorities because you can't blame for not.

1) in those states the uptake of the vaccine is a lot higher than the national average, especially in NYC, because they were hit disproportionately hard in the first 2 wave….

2) in California, you’ll find it is actually the Latino and the evangelical populations that are not taking up the vaccines…. Those basically in the central spine

3) the mask mandate relates to indoor dining… nothing stops you from eating outdoors.. which is not an issue in the summer.. trust me!

4) if you are using the bus or the subway in New York, which practically everyone does… you need a mask anyway! The mask mandate never went away for public transport!

Anyway I think it’s ridiculously offensive to try and use a racist trope to make a point especially since a lot of your other posts have been found to be untruthful at best and deceitful at worst!

We know your view on the virus, we know your view on race…. Now marrying them together hits a new low for you!

I am sure yet again you will end up getting bailed by a mod by them either removing the thread or closing it…. They always do… I am sure I’ll get 48hrs for saying it

See… if the op actually wanted a genuine conversation (which we all they don’t judging by previous posts) rather the gaslighting and spreading untruthful information (which we know they have!) maybe they want to ask 2 different questions… so let’s ask those…

1) almost half of the covid cases in this wave are concentrated in two states… Florida and Texas… what is the one tool those governors have taken away from the local councils that could help mitigate the spread?

2) the lowest take up of vaccine is in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas… what do those 4 states have in common when it comes to their governance?

Nyc had the highest death rate in world in March of last year in part because of government policy that forced all the elderly out of the hospitals freeing up beds and into care homes. Unfortunately this policy directly lead to thousands of deaths.

It's not a race issue in the sense that certain races don't have equal access however there are justified trust issues within certain communities that need to be addressed.

Vaccines are free for everyone in the USA. If people can't see the news, the statistics, the medical and scientific evidence, and realise that they need to get one of those free vaccines. . . . . then, I'm at a loss to suggest what would make the difference. A lot of people are going to have to get hit with it, or have a loved one hit with it, before they wake up. So be it. It isn't like the evidence isn't out there.

A treatment for syphilis became widely available by 1943, but black men who were taking part in the study were not offered treatment.

I found the story shocking. It is often mentioned today as a reason why black Americans may be unwilling to trust researchers or even go to the doctor.

You can read about it online. The original title of the study was the "Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male".

Oh I agree that other factors are at play.

It's just not in the way the OP has tried to suggest.

There are reasons as to why certain communities would be untrusting of the authorities and vaccine but its not being denied to these people.
