Pros/cons of wearing masks - **LIGHT-HEARTED THREAD PLS**

Jump to newest

PROS:

- not having to wax my lip

- not having to cover up time-of-the-month chin spots

- keeping my face warm and cozy in the cold/wind

- muttering insults under my breath and not being heard

- no one being able to hear the weirdo quietly singing to themselves in the cheese aisle

- pretending not to smell the accidental fart that just slipped out after too much cheese (this one on behalf of a friend, obvs)

- making funny faces no one else can see

- always having something to mop up spilled Frappucinos with in the car

- eye-flirting

- getting to take off your mask outside, looking at the hot guy that was next to you at the checkouts and letting him know that you were actually good looking all along

- also, pretending to be good looking because half my face is covered and no one will ever know

CONS:

- one day I will stop wearing a mask and all the idiots in Tesco I am aiming my insults at will actually be able to hear me

Feel free to add your reasons but nothing about 5G, Bill Gates, removals of freedom or the proletariat pls. Just want a chuckle

Wirral.

Going into a crowded supermarket and coughing like a lune into your mask. Check them out. You can tell they’re glad you’re wearing one.

The times I've been in a supermarket and people have taken their masks off to cough or sneeze...

I was just in a petrol station shop about 30 mins ago. The woman in front of me was wearing a mask but pulled it down to do a massive sneeze. The guy behind me bursts out laughing at her insane logic and she starts giggling too, going "wow that just defeated the whole purpose". I was just stood in the middle like "umm, I am uncomfortable with the energy we have created here...".

But I can't blame her for having reflexes though, I guess =)

I think it's sexy too. Putting yourself through discomfort to protect other people. Standing up, strong, against this threat, and just getting on with it.

Pros: Mask wearing can be sexy as hell.

Cons: Supermarket manager does not approve when said sexiness leads to getting steamy together in the freezer aisle...

Pros -

I am very liberated in licking my lips when seeing attractive people and they don't get to definitely know. Obviously I have a tongue mask too.

I can add a few drops of something scented, olbas oil, essential oils etc, to aid breathing or improve the fragrance of some environments.

I can pretend that I am a masked superhero.

Others don't get to hear my foul mouth as much, when they are doing inappropriate things

Cons -

I get a little hoarse raising my voice, usually at the stupid

My crown fell out during lockdown and I had to wait 3weeks to see a dentist. Despite hating masks it was a godsend at this time and saved me huge embarrassment.

Pros - focusing in on people’s eyes and seeing how beautiful many are. Windows to the soul.

Perhaps orthodox Muslims had it half right all along? Just needed men to be wearing too!

Cons - self-inflicted garlic breath.

Pro-

If you don't wear one on the train no one sits next to you . Im not very sociable on public transport

No one can hear me mutter for fuck sake every 2 minutes.

I have resting bitch face, its hidden by the mask.

I've invested in these cooling neck gaiters so I dont boil alive.

Cons

12 hours a day at work is ruining my throat and skin

It doesn't do anything to hide my eye rolling

Forgetting said mask and having to go back for it!

Pros:- stays in place due to the velcro effect on my stubble

I can avoid people who i dont want to talk to as im unrecognizable

Cons:- traps my minty chewing gum fumes and that seeps up to burn my eyes.

Mask gets too stuck to my stubble and starts pulling apart.

Pro -

Evading identification by computer controlled surveillance when in public

Cons - It's probably helped the surveillance software systems to improve their recognition accuracy of individuals

Pro -

It's kept some pollution away from our faces

Pro: when making funny faces at a baby (because yes, I'm turning into my grandmother), it's an extra achievement when they start giggling, because you know the eyes have done the job

If you're transgender (mtf) and have rather dark facial hair no need to be so liberal with the concealer when going to the shops.

If I go to the supermarket and I find that I have forgotten my mask... I can usually pick up someone's old one lying on the ground in the car park.
