It will be here forever just like flu. We will learn to live with it though.

Covid is here to stay. We have to adapt and learn to live with it. Worst case scenario it mutants into a vaccine resistant more dangerous strain.

I think it's likely to be around for a very long time, potentially forever as we generally have not had an eradication strategy against it.

It could be just like any other pandemic, some never disappear but others do... but it doesn't happen overnight, it takes years

of course it will be here forever, in the same way that other viruses are. Or at least, if not forever, for many hundreds of years.

I don't understand why anyone would think it will go away?

I'm just interested in how it will change over time ... less or more dangerous? ...less or more contagious? ....less or more resistant to vaccines etc

Vaccines in time will start suppressing the virus which reduce the chances of a new more potent variant emerging. Till then it’s a bit of a see saw battle

The Plague dates from the 1300s, people still die of it now.

Based on the fact that we have a larger world population that can travel the world at pretty much the drop of a hat, the chances or ridding the world of Covid19 is pretty much non-existent !

The plague, tb, the flu, covid, colds...all been around, all still around. The trick is to learn to live with it.

Yep, but give it a few years or so and we will have something new to worry about, the way we mess with nature will expose us to more virus's

Its been confirmed it wont go away. Get jabbed, get fit, eat well and you should be ok. Its now time to Roll your sleeves up and get on with it. We just can't keep hiding away from it. Other health issues are forming from being locked away.

I hate to point out the human race will not be on this planet forever ! As never is like a circle will we out live it possibly like yellow fever. In my lifetime I don't think so but as others befor me have said we are learning to control it and learning to reduce its effects.

We will learn to live with it, by being more effective in our management of it with tailored vaccines each year; it will be like the flu, which does kill tens of thousands every winter.
