This one has been done to death...simple maths...if everyone was vaccinated only vaccinated people could catch it....the majority of people are vaccinated so the incidence goes up.

How many are in hospital? The jab doesn't stop you getting it, but it lessons the impact of the virus so you aren't as poorly

We all know that having the jab doesn't stop you from getting it. It just hopefully lessens the symptoms you go through.

People on here have stated that they have hay-fever symptoms and tested positive. Which means it's doing its job. But for the people that have been jabbed, some tend to take more risks now so they higher their chances of catching it.

Doesn't mean it's not working.

The vaccination is currently giving about 70pc protection against catching Covid after BOTH doses but that means nearly 1/3rd of those that have been vaccinated will "catch" Covid. It is also giving protection against getting seriously ill or dying from Covid - That's about 92pc and 98pc respectively. Most double vaccinated people are not getting seriously ill but some may need hospital support, a few may need ICU. To put this into perspective there have been zero Covid deaths in our area (Plymouth) since March 1st. Most who are catching it are unvaccinated but as above a few double vaccinated folk are also catching it. Symptoms of the Delta variant are not the same as "traditional" Covid. For people infected with the Delta variant, the top five reported symptoms are: Headache, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat and loss of smell. Much more like a cold (but more serious in the elderly and those at risk due to other morbidities). The vaccine is good, much much better than previous flu vaccines, but its not perfect. NOTE All info above from the ZOE Covid study group Kings College https://covid.joinzoe.com

I'm not having the vax because we dont know the long term effects.

BUT its obvious the more people are vaccinated the more people who are vaccinated will be covid positive and the more people will die from covid despite having both jabs.

It doesn't mean the vaccine is bad or that it doesnt work, its simple maths, the more who are vaccinated the more will die or be infected whilst vaccinated.

So many forum threads on this. Whilst these vaccines have very high efficacy, none of our vaccines for common infections are 100% effective for all people, all of the time. Expecting otherwise is unrealistic and against all of the extensive evidence, gained from hundreds of thousands of people during the research trials.

As others point out, vaccinate millions, when there's a very virulent variant, it will infect some of them.

The positive news is that the vaccines prevent infections from becoming very severe illness or cause death, when compared with people who are not vaccinated.

Choose life or death, in essence, is the black and white worst case scenario option that we have. It's great to have choice and control over our outcomes.

Nothing to do with that. It's a virus mutation. Historically and for time and memorial. Mutations mean weaker but more infectious. Its not rocket science for goodness sake.

Why had between February 1st and 21st June as 63.4 % of deaths which was 257 deaths 163 of those deaths that had occurred during the 28 days since being told they Covid have had either one or two jabs of the vaccine

That tells me that it’s not working and just giving people a false sense of security

That to me isn’t protecting the people taking the vaccines and also not preventing deaths either from having the vaccine

Lol yes about 4 times and at no point did it make any sense it was contradicting itself time after time and how anyone can believe that 163 deaths out of 257 is proving the vaccine is working is beyond me

Might I add I had Covid and I had it severe I was in intensive care for 5 days and was touch and go for 48 hours and I don’t believe that the vaccine is doing any good at all

We all have our ideas and opinions and I ain’t trying to sway or slag the vaccine or anybody who decide to or not to take the vaccine It’s every bodies choice

Made perfect sense to me... and thought the article explained it pretty well.

The vaccine is very clearly making a difference. The admissions and death figures show that very well. As more people are now vaccinated than not vaccinated it stands to reason that the numbers will grow as more are vaccinated. But the key point is that the correlation between infections and mortality rate has changed considerably.

the vaccine reduces your chances of catching and lowers the transmission rate. It also lowers the chance of serious illness or death... lowers not stops. Unfortunately some people will still succumb to this terrible virus. But thanks to the vaccine much lower numbers than before.

Maybe that fact is that the NHS drs nurses specialist have all learnt how to treat the disease better whilst in hospital as I know for sure that if I had Covid in the first stages I would’ve most definitely died but by the time I got Covid which was end September they knew what was best ways of treating it and best meds to give to treat it

Whilst I was in hospital and intensive care they was saving people from their 30s upto lates 80s so I would assume even more that they have learnt even more and even better ways to treat it meaning the deaths amounts are lowered because of those facts x

I do wonder if threads like this should simply be deleted.

Vaccines are an incredibly powerful weapon in our fight against Covid. Spreading conspiracy theories about them and mistrust will result in some people refusing to take the vaccines.

That, in turn, will cause more people to die.

Threads get shut down when they get too argumentative or when insults are bandied about. But threads like this could convince people not to take life-saving vaccines. Hence threads like this can literally cause people to die.

Infection levels are similar to January but hospitalisations and deaths are extraordinarily low, compared to then - primarily due to the effectiveness of the vaccines.

Some will see whatever they want to see but it is best to read published medical research evidence.

Here's a link that shows an analysis of how many lives the Covid vaccines saved by May. (12,000)

So you were in hospital due to covid in September right ICU, intensive care and as you said covid almost killed you.

Now given your info its clear you had covid UK variant or original strain.

Fast forward to now would have different covid in the game the Indian delta variant which is far more transmissable and early reports suggest its at least as deadly as previous variants and effects more younger people. Even the main warning symptoms are different.

Many people who surived covid previously have been hit hard by getting the delta variant now. Bear in mind the delta variant is spreading across the UK like while fire surely you would consider getting vaccinated to protect against going through again (or worse) than what you did last September??

Bear in mind its already proven just how deadly covid can be to you?

People will die that are vaccinated, it's not an immortality jab.

Most of the people dying are elderly or vulnerable, unfortunately, they would have died with or without the vaccine.

It's not proof the vaccines don't work.

I don't know anyone that has said there definitely won't be long term issues because nobody knows.

It's just a risk most of us are willing to take in order to help protect others, and ourselves now.

Fat lot of good being proven right will do if half of the world's population are dead or severely disabled through contracting covid.

Maybe wise to all on here that watch only main stream media, bbc itv…..etc

To look at some recent stories of what it is actually doing to people when it goes wrong.

More recently as of 5 days ago I think, there is a 15 year old girl who has just had jab 2 and she is pretty critical.

Uncontrolled shaking was actually very scary to watch imo. It has caused serious damage to her nervous system.

There’s a reason these stories don’t get published main stream, but the rise in numbers do just like they did with all the care home deaths, put it as Covid when it actually wasn’t.

It’s a very strange time, but even before this to trust our governments, laws and the hierarchy when they give pedophile’s a lesser sentence than someone who’s driving whilst banned shows not to trust this countries hierarchy, which is why this vaccination cannot be taken on there say so.

Now many of us are getting the vaccine, are the same people claiming they personally know of ‘friends of friends’ who are all catching it?

If so, are they suggesting you don’t catch covid without the vaccine?

The whole point of vaccine is to prime your body to be ready to defend itself against an organism when you catch it. They do not prevent you contracting a disease. They do enable you to fight it more quickly, effectively and efficiently. This leads to fewer serious cases, hospitalisation and deaths. It won’t completely eliminate them though

one of things the vaccine does or is capable of doing is reducing the impact of the virus and with this manageable for recovery I doubt anyone would want to go full length without medical treatment if vaccinated and want to find out what happens, unless it's already been explored unprofessionally with the patient needing treatment not receiving can't trust many these days

"this week i have discovered more people contracting covid after they have been double jabbed

its not nrespaer talk

its friends of friends

it aint working !!!!!!

5G mobile signals are causing the vax not to work.

You need to ditch your mobile and get away from the 5G masts!

The crazy thing is, I've read so many mad conspiracy theories it's hard to even tell this is a joke.

I think you've resolved yoyr own dilemma.

Stop reading conspiracy theories. Problem solved.

The vaccine isn't a cure! Just like we don't ave a cure for the common cold or flu. The vaccine works like the flu vaccine, which doesn't stop u getting it.

So don't for 1 minute think the vaccine makes u immune. Being vaccinated only means that if u catch the virus the symptoms should be less. And having seen first hand how fatal this disease can be I think I'd rather have mild symptoms than be dead.

Southern England

based on 100 people. (Note these are not covid stats but just an example)

Out of those 100 90 have been vaccinated and 10 haven't.

Out of those 100 people 15 have died. (10 from vacinated group 5 from non vaccinated group) so more deaths from vaccinated group.

Death percentage for vaccinated people = 11%

Death percentage for un-vaccinated group = 50%.

Its not meant to be 100% effective.

Doesnt stop you getting it but meant to reduce the symptoms.

Abit like the flu vaccine.

"Maybe wise to all on here that watch only main stream media, bbc itv…..etc

Do you have a link for the story about the 15 year old girl? I'm curious. "

I have no reason to doubt that some people will get serious side effects.

But it seems that some are in total fear of the 1 in 600000 chance of getting a serious complication from the vaccine

Whilst ignoring the 1-10 chance of serious complications from the disease itself.

Like I say maths is not everyones strong point.

"I'm not having the vax because we dont know the long term effects.

"

We do know the long term effects - it's old tech. Literally the same basic principle as the flu jab.

1 million infections = 10,000 deaths pre vaccination. Now 1 million infections is less than 950 deaths (vaccine is 95% effective against serious disease).

It. Works.

I'm forever amused by these threads.

One minute people are saying they didn’t know anyone who’s caught covid.

All of a sudden people now claiming they know someone who's had the vaccine but caught Covid.

Funny.

When are people going to start understanding that no vaccine ever, gives you complete and total immunity to something.

It teaches your immune system to beat it better and trains your body to be less susceptible to the symptoms

The vaccination doesn’t stop you catching COVID!

It significantly reduces the risk of illness from the disease and lowers the chances of transmission.

That’s it.

I think most people get that. But as someone who is double jabbed and just caught it having taken all precautions I question how effective it is at stopping the spread and ameliorating symptoms. I feel fucking awful. Given we are all living outdoors at the moment I wonder how much of the impact is outdoor living and how much is vaccine.i don't for one moment believe these high percentage numbers that are doing the rounds.

As 19th approaches I'd urge caution against superman syndrome with people vaccinated thinking they are safe. They are most likely safer than before but it's still very clearly super easy to be infected and feel very ill.

But thankfully you’re not severely ill which i think we all agree is the main thing.

Masks in busy or confined public places, continued good hygiene practice and so on is definitely sensible in my eyes and if you’ve loved ones who are more vulnerable than most then application of common sense about how and when you interact both with them.

People forget to think about the fact that their own immune systems have suffered a great damage from over sanitisation and endless lockdowns too. It will take years to recover own natural immune system.

And yes, this glorified shot might give you protection from one virus, but how many is out there that your own immune system is unable to cope with any longer?
