Just seen this on a profile, and it's a first for me. Anyone else spotted this on a profile? There was also something about shedding harmful spike proteins.

See on pof profile today with someone I'm chating to he wont meet jabbed people! Not told him I've been jabbed yet! Maybe it's their way of getting back at those that say wont meet unvaxed? Bit petty

Not concerned about shedding a potentially fatal virus though? That's worthy of a very slow handclap.

Yes this is what I think I've had both jabs! But it's up to each individual no one should b shamed either way! And if anyone asked me if I've had the jab as a requirement to meet then I would decline wouldn't want to meet people like that x

As the vast majority of UK population are getting the jabs, it is going to limit very much the availability of unvaccinated people for such individuals to meet.

Personally it is something I might ask out of curiosity but wouldn't be a deal breaker either way. I don't feel the need to state on my profile that I have had both jabs though. X

I find this incredible. I can understand people not wanting to meet the great unvaccinated. But not wanting to meet the vaccinated? Come on. Ive had both jabs and can't understand anyone not wanting to be done unless they've got a genuine medical condition which prevents it.

Yes, it's a common argument for those against various vaccinations that it's the vaccinated who shed disease (or here, spike protein), not the unvaccinated. Not that it makes any sense.

it really does, it amazes me that people are so easily duoped into believing crack pots on the internet that claim to have all the answers, there have been studies into why people believe some of this stuff and it's apparently to do with it being easier to swallow that the fact that there is a massive world changing pandemic going on that is completely out of their control where as the vaccine is something they have some amount of control over by refusing it and demonizing that and the shadowy figures that are apparently manipulating the population

Germ theory is the idea that pathogens (viruses, bacteria, fungi) cause disease. Not desperately controversial or new.

But according to some it's never been proven that viruses cause disease. Some hold, per terrain theory (which made some sense in the 19th century...) that bad health causes disease, and pathogen particles found in bodies of sick people are the byproducts of disease.

Bryan Caplan discussed "Rational Irrationality" in a paper published 2000/2001.

Admittedly it was a theory that explains how unfavourable policies can be selected by voters in a democracy. (The theory has been broadened to cover other areas apart from politics, eg Religion.)

To summarise Wikipedia, Caplan theorises that there are 2 types of rationality.

1. Epistemic Rationality. A person forms "beliefs" within a truth framework underpinning their beliefs. They try keep their minds open for new evidence, and try to avoid fallacious reasoning.

2. Instrumental Rationality. This means the person chooses the most effective means to attain their actual goals, with their beliefs in mind.

Here's the kicker.

Rational Irrationality means the person uses Instrumental Rationality (2) to achieve a position of Epistemic IRRATIONALITY (the opposite of 1, essentially).

What does this mean ?

It means that a person who seeks to only meet unvaccinated people (they have stated this as the most effective means to attain their goal, so it's Instrumental Rationality), has underpinned this with Epistemic Irrationality (Not used a framework of truth/science) to underpin their beliefs.

This is actually a thing.

It does not mean the individual deliberately chooses something they believe to be false.

It means that the cost of having such a belief is so unimportant to them that they relax their reasoning, and thus are more swayed by cognitive bias, erroneous thinking or emotional appeals.

They feel that the intellectual effort required to understand the nuances and contradictions to their beliefs is not worth it.

There's a whole lot more on how rational irrationality can exist and what conditions foster it beyond the scope of this post, but they are fascinating and well worth a read to try and understand how some people can irrationally rationalise themselves in to holding certain beliefs.

I tend to think of such folks not as stupid or moronic, but simply not as investing the same rigour as others in arriving at their conclusions.

For some, it's wilful ignorance. For others deliberate malevolence. For some, they just don't realise. For others, they just don't care. All are irrational however.

There is a saying that everyone is entitled to their beliefs but this is a truism. (A statement which asserts incomplete truth conditions for a proposition).

But as Bill Bullard (Republican member of both houses of the Michigan Legislature and local official in Oakland County) said, "Opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge. It requires no accountability, no understanding."

Let's get Philosophy, Critical Thinking, Ethics, Politics and Discourse more embedded in the national curriculum for the formative years. It will serve future citizens with skills which will help them hone their epistemic rationality, and leave them less likely to be prone to instrumental irrationality.

People don't wear masks for many reasons

Not because they have STI's or want to spread them

Very judgemental!

Can't believe some humans actually think this way

Genuinely don't think there's any need for this thread which seems to have turned to bashing people regarding personal choice of their own body

If people think someone has a red flag over their head because of simple choices made for their own reasons ... Then imo I think they are the ones with the red flags

We couldn't care less whether someone has or has not had their jabs. Same with people not wearing masks etc.

We will look after us and ours and everyone else can do the same. We're not gonna judge anyone for their personal choices.

However, if anyone asked for proof of anything even before a social we probably wouldn't meet them.

Ah, but it goes both ways, we are abused for having the vaccines, called sheep, called stupid, sent vile messages, threatened, abused etc.

There's alot of stuff that gets sent via messages, mainly by people that know it would be a straight ban if they said it in the forums.

The issue with you saying its YOUR body is that the choice isn't only affecting YOU, that's mainly why I have an issue with it, that, and the (mostly) conspiracy theory driven reasons for not having the vaccines.

Yet unbelievable amounts (like can't even escape it on FabSwingers amount) of hatred, name calling, distrust and down right nastiness to the other side.

Agree with everything about 'easy filter'.

But how the actual fuck is someone going to verify you have (or haven't) been vaccinated? As long as you keep your proteins from shedding, they'll be none the wiser...

Really easy to prove I have had my vaccinations, the main NHS app has a section that shows vaccine status I would assume just as easy to show if you haven't by showing the same section of the app

I for one shall not be requiring to look at anyone's nhs app, or asking for any other type of documentary evidence. Mainly because I have no immediate intention of dropping my panties for just any random person. Postings on this forum over the last 18 months will give me a good guideline towards peoples attitude towards covid for a start. However my expectation is that I am only likely to get to the personal contact stage with people that I have come to know in some depth, where there is mutual trust and honesty. If course, maybe this just means that I'll never have sex with anyone ever again, if so then I guess that's my own fault for hoping to find people that are trustworthy.

Maybe you're blinkered because there's LOADS of it.

There are many situations in which people are penalised for choices they make, especially if they are putting other people at risk.

The vaccine reduces transmission, pretty self explanatory.

Why do you think the deaths and hospitalisations are so low when cases are rising dramatically? That's what the vaccine is doing, it's helping stop severe illness and death. Most people see that as a good thing.

How about, you make your own decisions and let others make theirs... And if you decide to do something because others advise you to do so, either way... I am sure that's still your decision, not theirs, peer pressure is a cop out?!? If you are vaccinated and you don't want to meet people that aren't... Don't... And vice versa... I saw this too but on a meet request in my local area… which is Manchester… one of the least vaccinated areas and the area with THE lowest life expectancy rates in the country. I don’t understand their rationale, but each to their own.

I do understand people being sceptical but what I don't understand is people then going on an anti-vax narrative that's what I struggle with.

All so I saw a report in the news the other day that said the amount of people who have said they would not take the vaccine for covid actually have taken it.

I think the difficulty is that the narrative by the government and scientists is that those that are vaccinated or risk from those that aren't and so that's where the division comes whether it's true or not.

To be fair, when penicillin was first used it was a big unknown, and very little was understood about the mechanism of its action. It was the first of its kind, there was no idea about what dosages might be effective, how long the course of treatment would need to be, whether it might have side effects... The very first patient treated with penicillin improved for a short while, then died. However the patient was only chosen because they were certainly going to die of a bacterial infection anyway, and I believe (recollecting from a documentary movie some years ago) that they were too far gone to be saved with the relatively miniscule amount of penicillin that was available.

My father was one of the test subjects for streptomycin when that was first discovered. He was in hospital with advanced tuberculosis, and was basically told that there was a new treatment, it might kill him stone dead, but if he didn't try it he only had a couple of days left anyway... Fortunately there were no antibiotic conspiracy theorists around to tell him that it was a plot to depopulate the planet, otherwise he would never have recovered and I would not have been conceived...

The issue with Penicillin Patient Zero (police officer with a rose thorn to the finger, leading to a nasty infection), was that naturally synthesised penicillin actually is predominantly unmetabolised and is excreted renally. They realised this and started recovering it from his urine and repurifying. Basically they kept giving him the same penicillin over and over until it was all eventually metabolised and it ran out. The infection took hold again and he died. The policeman's name was Albert Alexander.

Personally I would do meets as healthy individual and purely a deadly flu but if felt not safe or underline conditions especially respiratory I definitely would not meet.

Every year millions through out the planet die of flu but no one blinks an eye and get on with their lives .

Goverments including Scots gov scared everyone at beginning and sadly ruined awfully lot of people’s lives .

Not meeting people only damaged yourself and like flu vacs it lessen the fact you have the flu and with covid jab means awfully lot of people who had are spreading it without realising it same works with the flu .

So wise up stop being scared and get on with your life and stop being like a sheep .Goverment officials are servants to the people not the other way round Plus major share holders in vaccine, medical etc it’s so laughable but true and sad

"I have two very dear friends who don’t want the vaccine and I love them to bits, but neither of them have been able to tell me their reasons for not wanting it. I accept them for who they are but I am worried for them."

Probably like me not anti vaccine however takes at least 5 years to prove the data and Covid is another strain of tube flu like other strains that come out to !Do you remember bird flu,Swine flu reported on tv and nobody blinked an eye while millions died throughout the planet and everybody just got on with it went to work ,pubs clubs etc .

Flu vaccine like the Covid means you still get and spread and stop you being really ill so I would say to anyone if underlying conditions ie respiratory as flu loves or feel unsafe than follow your heart it’s a private matter however with media like Facebook coming out with badge of honour cause you took the jab it’s pathetic it’s like you want to be in my gang!Goverments is making fortunes amongst medical and drug companies treating people like experiments cause purely that’s what is all about so respect your friends and don’t dictate to them .I have witnessed people dying from it and say what I said the year before it’s a deadly flu .

P.s tested on animals first they all died weeks later and younger females trying to start a family may be infertility however no one to sue so drug companies win and so does government

Oh dear That is literally not how drug trials work. The animals were put down after the trials in the same way that all animals in drug trials are. They didn’t die from the vaccine (which then went into human trials) as you say, stop getting your info from Facebook “it’s pathetic”

" Do the non vaxxers get jabs for all the other ailments that can seriously damage your health or is it just covid ones they avoid ?

Surely that depends if they are actually anti vaxxers or just wary of this one, no?

If the internet was around when penicillin was first used it would have had anti vaxxers saying the same sort of stuff about it.

The first antivaxxers thought that the smallpox vaccine would turn people into cows."

I’d like to laugh but even with all the understanding and education we have now compared to then, some groups of people don’t seem to have moved forward much.

Yes this! People judging both sides of the fence!

Won't be meeting us then.

That's fine, no issues.

Everyone has to choice of who to meet or not, using whatever criteria floats their boats.

Just getting back to meeting people, jabbed or not, will be a start.

I disagree. This is very different.

We're hopefully working our way out of a global pandemic, that's affected 160+ countries and 7.8 billion people.

We don't need crackpot loons running around with their frankly ridiculous, baseless and unsubstantiated conspiracy theories undoing the good work that's been done by so many.

A quick read through this thread alone shows the fecund stupidity behind so many of these "facts".

The deliberately pejorative miss-interpretation of detail is astounding.

The deniers, the liars, those whose "FACTS" place the gullible and ill-informed in harms way.

I'm astounded on a daily basis by some people's lack of education, basic knowledge and common sense.

Looking at both sides doesn't mean disregarding evidence.

I have looked at both sides. On one side we have the scientific consensus.

On the other side we have a lot of people who are widely and repeatedly discredited in this particular realm, no matter what they've done elsewhere.

Separate to this, we have political leaders.

Are you suggesting the solutions to a global pandemic are all about control?

Yes, I've looked at both sides of the "argument". I've done it with objectivity and an open mind.

I'm aware that confirmation bias exists. I've been mindful not to have fallen into that trap.

Clearly many haven't.

I've read all I can, from reliable, attributable, recognised sources.

Clearly many haven't.

Where a source has been discredited I've looked at why and by who.

Many clearly haven't.

I'll look at the science, not necessarily the scientist.

I don't care if a government official tells us not to stick our heads in gas ovens, and pictures emerge of him with his head deep inside.

Because he/they/them break the rules doesn't give me carte blanche permission to do the same. It just makes him a hypocrite.

Too much critisism, not enough critical thinking. Although I'm aware many don't have the mental faculty for it.

As a result of my previous post, I've just had a message from "Liverpool Lover", telling me he's glad there's a small pool of potential meets, as he won't ever meet a vaccinated person.

And he blocked me too.

Not that I was ever going to meet him. These anti- vaxers are odd...

Medicine isn’t ?? Is he a loon too ? Cause he can’t seem to express his opinion on the bbc you think he is a crackpot ? "

I haven't looked at the BBC since April last year. I do, in fact, do my own research. I don't give a shit who gets put on the television or not. I care about evidence, about credibility. I scrutinise all my sources.

The fact that I've come to a different conclusion to you doesn't mean I've dismissed the "other side" out of hand.

And yeah, Heneghan's a crackpot. McCullough is a crackpot. Mickovits is a crackpot

dont see the problem they know what they want you know what you want as long as you look after you and do what you want with who you want then all is fine..

people can have there own opinion and rightly so... so if its not for you then use it as a filter ... i do what i want popular or not ..

if anyone wants to know i had both my jabs before the end of jan 2021 had mine in the first wave of jabs but im not going to waste my breath moaning about others and what they do ..

I haven’t had either (I suffer from anaphylactic shock), I’d be interested to know if those who refuse to meet those who are unvaccinated would turn down those who are advised not to have the jab.

And I agree but then that means that the reason that folks won’t meet unvaccinated people is not to protect themselves regarding the unvaccinated potentially being able to pass on the virus more easily but that you just don’t like that they haven’t made the same choice as you with regards to their own body autonomy. (You as in a collective not you personally). I think that’s what I’m trying to get at.

We all make choices for whatever reason. Those reasons are generally regarded as being beyond criticism, on here. I'm not sure why this is different.

On a societal level, vaccination protects not only the individual, but also those who can't be vaccinated, and those for whom the vaccination was less effective. I see herd immunity as standing to create a human shield around people who need it.

Ditto. There's a massive difference between a medical exemption and "oooh, nano chips, big pharma bad, scamdemic"

Each to their own. That's why vacine is not mandatory (in most respects). I suspect it'll hugely diminish the opportunity they have on here as well as their ability to receive great 5G.

It would be intresting to see if their profile say such things in 6 months time?

And I agree. I don’t care what choices others make and nor should they have to explain themselves but....

I’ve had more than one guy tell me in conversation that they won’t meet unvaxxed people due to concerns about increased transmission risks etc etc then change their mind when I tell them that I haven’t had the vaccine.

I meant from SAGE as opposed to spotty Neville from Milton Keynes, who posts tin hat twaddle on YouTube from a room above his mums garage.

Yrs, I look at SAGE. I'll also look at the credible sources from within the scientific community.

But definitely not debunked or discredited "experts"

It does make me chuckle when an individual with no credibility is hailed an expert, but when he's shown to have zero credibility or authority, it's because there's a conspiracy against him.

Er, no, it's because he has zero credibility or authority.

On a societal level, vaccination protects not only the individual, but also those who can't be vaccinated, and those for whom the vaccination was less effective. I see herd immunity as standing to create a human shield around people who need it.

So many people now have no awareness of how their lives have been changed by the inventions of vaccines and antibiotics. As you mention, the first penicillin patient was being treated because of an infection caused by pricking his finger in the garden! This was not an unusual case, without antibiotics to quickly clear infections, almost any minor injury could very easily be a death sentence.

Vaccines and antibiotics make it the case that in this country childhood deaths are now relatively infrequent events. Without these drugs we would see a rapid return to the mortality rates of early last century, where losing a child was very much just a thing that happened, and a small cut on the hand might easily lead to the need for amputation and then death anyway.

"I haven’t had either (I suffer from anaphylactic shock), I’d be interested to know if those who refuse to meet those who are unvaccinated would turn down those who are advised not to have the jab.

I think medical exemption from vaccination is a separate category, myself.

I think that’s what I’m trying to get at.

for me it's more that the whole anti Vax mindset doesn't sit well with me so would see that as an incompatibility with my own mindset, then there are those that are not anti any other vaccine but are just refusing to have this one because "the man" doesn't control them and they dont need it because they are fit and healthy, I care for a family member on the extremely vulnerable list and choose to have the vaccine firstly to protect her not myself, and it just doesn't sit well with me from a values point of view that they have no consideration for others when making the choice not to have the vaccine, its a somewhat selfish mindset in my opinion as sadly to an extent the current world wide health crisis isn't just about them its about everyone including those at high risk and those like yourself that can be vaccinated for medical reasons, if as many people as possible are vaccinated it not only protects those vaccinated but also those that can't be by reducing the chance of them being exposed to the virus.

My issue is with those people who have little to no understanding of the tripe they are shouting about, they do not share my values of how I believe being a member of society means protecting those that are vulnerable, contributing to the safety of society as a whole, instead of just looking at my own safety.

That's why I'm so against people that CHOOSE not to have the vaccine because of silly conspiracy theories and nonsense they've read from some complete nutcase online.

They aren’t compatible at all.

My best friend for example is the most anti covid vaccine person I know. She and her children are all fully vaccinated and she is at the clinic being tested for std’s after every new partner. Of course this is just one anecdotal example but I don’t believe the two can be compared.

I respectfully disagree with you and I simply consider the personal risk to me greater when not vaccinated. This is based on a number of considerations which I won't go into publicly.

That said, there is a growing number of people, not just in the UK but certainly in other European countries such as France and Germany who are refusing the vaccine on similar grounds.

Calling these doubters names, referring to them as idiots is disrespectful and unhelpful in the overall debate.

For me, the journey has been one of initially not wanting the vaccine, then deciding for it based on considerations referred to above, to now having a few doubts ... so everybody is entitled to an opinion and hopefully this will eventually lead to better understanding.

Let's rephrase that : Nobody can change YOUR mind perhaps - other people are different. I tend to listen to others before I make up my mind and sometimes that can look like I am being talked into it.

Also, if a decision favours my family, I would be "talked into " that without considering myself necessarily.

Not everybody is the same, people arrive at decisions in different ways and why should anybody judge them for it?

I think there are many people out there who don't understand what vaccines do, how they work or their benefits, let alone that we've been successfully vaccinating people for hundreds of years.

I also think they dont know enough about the C19 vaccine or how, why or what it protects us from.

I imagine they didn't want to lose you to Covid either, and irrespective of how healthy you might feel or appear, the fact is that people over 50 are at increased risk of dying from Covid. I know of outwardly fit and healthy people who succumbed to Covid - you'd never have thought them to be vulnerable prior to them getting the infection. One was a regular 10k runner and did the odd marathon, for example.
