Up on them there hills

Today I took me 16 year old son for a Covid jab.

Just booked it, no questions, other than “have you been ill, are you on medication, have you ever had blood conditions”.

Answer was no, first injection.

The questions are (or should be):

- Have you had any other vaccine in the past 7 days?

- Have you had a positive Covid test or Covid symptoms in the past 28 days?

- Have you had flu or flu-like symptoms in the past 7 days?

- Are you on any blood thinning medication?

- Have you ever reacted badly to a vaccine?

- Do you have any allergies?

And if someone is female:

- Are you or could you be pregnant and/or are you breastfeeding?

Only the one about pregnancy should be omitted for a young gent

Me too. I have my own pattern and ask in the same order every time, if anyone breaks my pattern I forget where I was.

I didn’t get asked the pregnant one and kept having to point out I was and check it was Pfizer. I was 26 weeks pregnant so I guess my bump was visible though. I was surprised as thought it would be important she they would be able to trace how many pregnant woman had it.

Wouldn’t that be picked up on your medical records so they can track that through those?

The questions are all around things that might not come up on your records.

We ask any woman under 50 the pregnancy questions and sometimes we forget to check the date of birth and just ask all women! Where did you have the vaccine, at your GP or a separate vaccine centre?

Vaccination centre. I kept stressing to them that I am pregnant but they just shrugged it off. My midwife has now reported my details to public health England because I said no one seemed bothered

A vaccine centre doesn't have access to the full GP record, so you are right that they should have asked you. Great it's been reported and fed back, as this is essential for improvement
