So why can't they do that in theatres and allow them to reopen and before a large wedding ?

"So why can't they do that in theatres and allow them to reopen and before a large wedding ? "
because I imagine that certain venue's will cut corners and trying to make sure 600 pissed up wedding guests all test is going to be difficult.

Also imagine if the bride or groom tested positive and everyone had to go home?

Can I say yes everyone should have a done a lateral flow test. My results was checked at the entrance. This is my third lateral flow in just under two weeks and I live with someone who is regularly tested for work. Remember Wembley was a 1/4 full

Oh good god yawn.

This is really getting ridiculous anytime anything is posted the band waggoner's jump in.

Nobody's picking on you, it's being done for a reason that's bigger than trying to prevent people going to the cinema.

And I mean really, if the government are trying to control the people they are doing a pretty shit job of it, the local cinema isn't exactly a major hub is it?

Pre covid how many people actually go to the cinema on a regular basis anyway?

I for one cannot afford it.

Friend went to Edgbaston at the weekend said it was just like pre Covid apart from the odd token measure.

Didn’t even need masks to get the beers in.

at the moment yes I would be quite happy with it..as would lots I should think. I'm very in favour if vaccine passports and rigorous testing if someone usnt vaccinated

exercising caution and particularly checking peoples Covid status before allowing them to mix at this stage is very sensible. So yes checking 'darlings' health records would be sensible before going to a restaurant .Im not sure why you don't appear to think the same?

But the fact that only 15 of those 60,000 later tested positive begs the question what does the government consider reasonably safe.

Fine by me. Private businesses can set their own entry requirements. Id also deny in person access to schools for any child who has no medical reason for not having a vaccine.

I was there over the weekend as well. It was one of the government test events so you had to prove you had a negative lateral flow test before entry. Although social distancing measures were relaxed once you were in the ground, you were still advised to wear your mask when not in your seat. Majority of people were following that rule when moving around the ground.

And Wimbledon finals can be capacity crowds... Its clumsy communication at best..... Or vested interest perhaps... Its hard to try and justify why you can't have a party with 1000 people at it but can have a beer garden with 10000 football fans or Wembley with 45k

It’s all part of the sporting test events, about 20 in total. All attendees have to provide proof of a negative test result or proof of a double vaccine.

Would you ask anyone attending your party to provide the same ?

Hungary has different rules to the UK. We don't know whether testing was done, whether vaccines certs were needed. Etc.

Hungary has administered 8,579,366 vaccine doses (total, so includes first and second doses). They have a population just over 9 million, so they seem to be getting on pretty well (although they're using Sputnik among others, so actual efficacy not entirely clear).

Of course but seeing as though they are still at testing stage at these events, SD and masks still required, it wouldn’t really work for a pub or club at the minute.

As for the double jab, yes there are a number of people who are, but surely they creates a split society which they have being trying so hard to avoid. Bring jabbed doesn’t mean you aren’t carrying it or indeed prone to still getting ill from it.

It’s all controlled, do you expect every pub / club to be as vigilant ? At the end of the day they are test events (outdoors), just as the ones happening in the entertainment industry, which is mostly indoors. It’s a start is how I see it to getting things back open for all

I think if people want to take a test and people put on an event and police it.. Then why not? We need to look as ways to make stuff happen rather than ways to stop things happening... Theres millions of people with double jabs and not infected who should be allowed to do things

"

There is a split in society.. Multiple splits...but if it takes a year to double jab people it makes no sense to keep everyone locked away for 12 months until the very last one has been done. It's a bit like saying nobody can drive a car until everyone can drive a car

"So why can't they do that in theatres and allow them to reopen and before a large wedding ?

All down to money so this country announces another 4 weeks of restrictions then what gets announced next... Wembley can now have 45000 spectators for the semi finals and final of euro 2020. I'm sorry Boris something is not right here. Its like, your amber traffic light for travel.. You can go but you can't. Wake up man just what is going on here

I don't see why people couldn't. If you can do it for 45 k people surely you could do it for 50 or 100 or 500 a lot easier.

Everyone locked away? I haven’t been in lockdown for months. Why do you think it’s going to take a year, 21 year olds getting done now, with one dose giving some protection against the delta variant (which is the one they are worried about now). Dosage gap shortened so realistically everyone offered and double jabbed come end of October, if they want it

From the land of haribos.

"Have they forgot about "covid" there?

No Shag, they only allowed people in the stadium who had received a vaccine, or recently recovered from Covid and had positive antibodies. See above. Hungary has a very high vaccination rate."

That is good, but it doesnt give total immunity.

Sorry yes clumsy choice of words... I agree we aren't locked away but equally there are quite a few restrictions still even though over 50 percent have double jabs. If... And I don't share your optimism with the October date... That will have taken 10 months from start to finish. I agree its "unfair" but who said life was fair?

Yes just over 50% have been doubled jabbed, I have a week ago but I know immunity isn’t at its fullest possible yet.

I feel for the businesses that still can’t open but would they get the business required from the double jabbers to justify opening, I’m not so sure.

To vaccinate a population in 10 months would be a huge achievement and I don’t think it isn’t achievable. Even to get to everyone has had one jab is a start.

It means it's much safer to have 22,000 in an open air sports stadium to watch a football match

"In Wembley watching the football...were they all tested for covid...has anyone been turned away at the turnstile....the public should be made aware of the statistics

Yep all needed proof of negative tests"

3 people I know who went to the Match were only "asked" if they've had a negative test and they didn't see a single person holding out their phones to show anything. I used the word show because it's all too simple to report test result so can't use proof.

Strictly enforced then? I mean nobody would lie to get in would they?

It reminds me of the blackadder sketch, about the joining the secret service....

Melchett "can you keep a secret? Yes? Well you're in then"

I've not bothered to look if people were meant to be tested and proof shown, I was just replying to the guy who said they were meant to be.
