Yaaaawn.

They'll start running out of countries to name variants soon.

Hardly surprising. While most people around the world remain unvaccinated, this virus will continue to move around within the human population and mutate to survive. To try to help stop this, I heard Biden wants to give away the vaccine patents free of charge to poorer nations. Of course, de Pfeffel is against this.

Don't understand why it is even news.

There are thousands of variants doing the rounds around the world.

Are they going to sensationalise every single one ?

Yes, can't beat a good bit of fear porn for the failing news ratings.

I am flabbergasted that anyone can still think this is a conspiracy?

It's logical that different countries are going to start creating different strains..its not a conspiracy! I think people just want their ideas to be true without much basis of fact..

That worries me more than any idea of being controlled..we have all been controlled in one way or another since birth..thats nothing new

Newry Down

Mutations will arise, but if the current vaccines provide protections against emerging variants, there is nothing to be concerned about.

I have been vaccinated twice, and if I need to have additional boosters I will happily have them, as infinitum.

New variant or has been around for a while. Were the Vietnamese immigrants in that container truck infected back in October 2019?

I agree. It will end up like the flu vaccine with new variants in the vaccine each year.

The only problem I see with Covid is unlike flu it doesn't seem to have a "season".

Flu tends to circulate in colder weather and is almost non-existent in the summer months so we vaccinate in September/October to get ahead of it.

Covid seems to circulate and spread regardless so when so we vaccinate?

Do we just keep going all year as we have been?

Could the NHS support this?

It just brings up more and more questions.

Unless something extraordinary happened, an annual shot providing strong immunity for a year, would be similar to the flu jab schedule and possibly could be done at the same session, minimising resource demands. A combined jab has been investigated.

There is a seasonal influence with both but it's possibly been masked as covid is much more infectious and nobody had immunity at first.
