Anyone experiencing side-effects? I've also been hearing of people who haven't had the jab but have been in close proximity to others who have experiencing heavy periods, it's all very concerning!

Not BS. We know a Consultant Doctor in the NHS who since having the vaccine a few months ago has pretty much had a continuous period. Doesn’t mean this is widespread/common but it has happened.

You might want to read what the OP said. That he knows someone getting this side effect from being near someone who has had the vaccine.

I wish it were just a conspiracy but there have been numerous reports of this now, I also recognise that stress and a few other things can be factors but not long ago many people believed this vaccine totally safe but then all of a sudden the BBC a reputable news source reports this..... merely pointing out it is cause for concern.

I'm peri menopausal and hadn't had a period in 9 months. I had the vaccine in march thenperiods in april and may so could be linked though i don't see how.

The BBC have reported on it yes but you've missed out that at present it's largely anecdotal..

Why are you saying many people believed the vaccine? Totally safe?

All medications, vaccines have potential side effects..

The point you made about someone in close proximity to someone else also being affected if one person is having a reaction/not yet known side effect is unsound..

Sorry OP am totally confused by your use of word “proximity” so...

1. Extended or continuous periods for a small number of women does appear to be a side effect (and as per my original post we do know someone who this has happened to).

2. Re-reading the wording of your post you seem to be implying that this side effect can be caught by someone else if they are in close proximity to someone already affected. Is that what you are saying?

You have to go a year without to be considered menopausal. But not unusual for them to start and stop so i wasnt worried. It is possible though it is triggered by the immune response. Who knows? Definitely won't stop me getting the second one in June though. I did report it as a possible side effect.

Yes although it is just a theory the studies by modernsa mention the possibility of spike protein shedding by the "vaccinated"

Link please?

From what's easy to find on the web it's saying Moderna is not a live virus so therefore shedding can't occur?

Unlike with the actual virus..

Pfizer, biotech, Johnson and Johnson and Moderna do not use live virus in their vaccines so a person can't she'd them post jab..

No you're correct they don't use the live virus, mRNA (messenger RNA) is a new approach, RNA programmed to produce "harmless" spike protein, but they were wise enough to study and document the potential for a host to shed spike protein, this added to growing evidence of unvaccinated women experiencing the same period sideeffects is to me cause for concern.

We're in unchartered water and only time will tell.

They are anti Vax..

as for the people filling the web with disinformation that a person can shed vaccine which isn't possible..

Who knows..

There may well be issues with a side effect that is causing the above, there may be others yet to come but a vaccinated woman can't shed anything to affect an unvaccinated woman..

It's being spun and spread and if we consider that one reason is to stop people being vaccinated with the possibility of the consequences of catching and spreading covid it's pretty obscene..

There's absolutely zero scientific mechanism by which spike protein can be shed by a vaccinated person and Moderns most certainly have not suggested it can happen. This is an internet conspiracy theory.

you are not going to get changes to your periods just by being in close proximity to someone who had a vaccine.. or any other medication come to think of it.

I'm not saying that vaccine isn't changing periods as to be fair the stress or anxiety of current situations could be messing but simply being in close proximity isn't going to do so

To add to this... Saw the article on BBC and was of interest as gf is on the merina coil and hasn't had a period for 5 years.... Had the az jab and has been bleeding on and off for a month.... Trying to see her gp about it as we speak. Given the other thread on women's health I'd imagine they will prescribe antidepressants or paracetamol and a hot water bottle.

No one is denying that menstruation can be affected by stress, illness, or other unusual circumstances (longhaul flights, for instance).

What's unbelievable is the OP's suggestion that side effects can be experienced merely by being near someone who's had the vaccine.

this... although many things can affect a woman's period. Stress and anxiety being a big one... with the worries about the vaccine it could be that the worry is the contributory factor. But I'm sure they will look into it.

Taken from the BBC article this is about.

.......

Vaccine misinformation

Meanwhile, the notion of vaccines affecting periods has been picked up by people spreading misinformation on social media.

Anti-vaccine and conspiracy theory groups have presented genuine accounts of people's personal experiences - like Dr Clancy's thread - as evidence of vaccines causing damage, or being part of a sterilisation plot by global elites.

False claims that women's cycles or even pregnancies could be affected just by being near vaccinated people have gained significant traction on social media in recent weeks.

One such video, viewed well over 300,000 times since mid-April, shows a "holistic reproductive practitioner" warning users that "women's periods and their menstrual cycles are being significantly affected, even if they haven't received it [the vaccine] themselves".

Other anti-vaccine advocates and holistic health practitioners, in posts gaining hundreds of thousands of views across platforms, claimed vaccinated people can "shed" the virus's spike protein to others.

This is physically impossible.

Merely stating that this has also been reported by numerous women online, I'm fascinated and curious to see how widespread this is, people seem to be overly defensive of their standpoint on this vaccine to the extent that they're ridiculing others.

Dreddie not sure that is true. Yes the more outlandish claims were being rebuffed or ridiculed but most people understand and accept there are known short term side effects.

A lot of people are of the view that statistically these are less likely and less dangerous than the alternative.

What we don’t, and cannot yet, know are if there are any long term side effects.

Dreddie, step away from the Internet. You've had quite enough for one day.

So to get this straight your way of dealing with people you disagree with is to make fun of them? Cool, good for you. I see a lot of this on this forum, not really a great place for freethinking, sharing ideas or questioning the status quo. Understood."

On the other hand there's a fair talent for snuffing out disinformation and bs conspiracies..

And it's been acknowledged as a possible side effect by several people..

But you've also posted factually incorrect stuff and failed to back up your claims..

Standard format to then blame the forum for being close minded which is patently not the case..

All effective interventions have side effects. I haven't heard anything reputable, at the moment, about disregulation of menstruation. I don't know what's possible physiologically.

The question is always risk versus benefit.

You should probably take a look through Pfizer vaccine trail documents.

There's a Pfizer document called

"A PHASE 1/2/3, PLACEBO-CONTROLLED, RANDOMIZED, OBSERVER-BLIND,

DOSE-FINDING STUDY TO EVALUATE THE SAFETY, TOLERABILITY,

IMMUNOGENICITY, AND EFFICACY OF SARS-COV-2 RNA VACCINE

CANDIDATES AGAINST COVID-19 IN HEALTHY Individuals"

Here's an couple of extracts for you

“An occupational exposure occurs when a person receives unplanned direct contact with a vaccine test subject, which may or may not lead to the occurrence of an adverse event,”

“These people may include health care providers, family members, and other people who are around the trial participant.”

Pfizer are well aware shedding is real.

Anyone who doubts it should take a look at what happened with one of the Polio vaccines and Shedding. Plenty of confirmed science out there

It's a piece of mRNA telling your body to produce a spike protein which can be shed.

Hence why they had to look into occupational exposure caused by contact with the test subject.

"How on earth would people that have been in close proximity to people that have had the vaccine be affected

This does sound very unsound..

I wish it were just a conspiracy but there have been numerous reports of this now, I also recognise that stress and a few other things can be factors but not long ago many people believed this vaccine totally safe but then all of a sudden the BBC a reputable news source reports this..... merely pointing out it is cause for concern."

i’m not saying its not something to be investigated , but given just how much hormonal birth control messes with our periods and we get told give it 6-12 months and see if it settles before we try something else

this “cause for concern” which totally jumps that gun seems to be otherwise motivated than any genuine concern for women with altered periods

Well in the case of the Polio vaccine that went wrong it caused those vaccinated to actually spread Polio.

This doesn't seem to be the case with the Covid vaccine.

However Women living with those vaccinated are reporting changes to periods.

It may turn out that the shedding is harmless, but the media labeling anyone who talks about it as conspiracy theorist will only stunt the study of the subject.

It's the suggestion that, in the few days that the mRNA is being transcribed to produce the spike protein by your body, your body will "shed" (sweat / breathe / etc) that protein into the environment.

I can imagine of you believe

A) this is a thing; it is thus far unproven as far as I'm aware

B) this is a thing with effect; the particle can't replicate, would have to get into vulnerable cells, most likely lung or sinus tissue exposing an ACE2 receptor and would thus be present *orders of magnitude less* than in inside a vaccinated person.

Then you might *worry* about being involuntarily inoculated and thus vulnerable to the various theorised effects seen germinating in various echo-chambers if the internet.

One way to avoid this woukd be to...

Wear a mask?

So radiation can be spread, which makes sense as it'll be ionising radiation in order to kill cells.

But medication for cancer, such as Arsenic trioxide doesn't kill cancer in other people does it?

You can't compare mRNA with radiation as it's wildly different.

So, why do you think mRNA can be shed and if it is, what could it do? Consider that one of the main problems is that mRNA degrades in literal minutes outside of a controlled environment.

BBC website only recently admitted this side-effect, watch some late night TV and look out for the ads offering people compensation for things that at the time were deemed safe.

There is absolutely zero biological mechanism by which the spike protein transcribed from mRNA OR the mRNA can be transmitted from a vaccinated person to another person. Zero biological mechanisms.

My qualifications for stating that are that I have a microbiology degree and have taught foundation degree biology for a long time with 5 years as department head.

Thank you, someone who states a fact and doesn't condescend is a much appreciated voice in all of this, I was just asking a question and feel I've spent the day being attacked here.

There's absolutely no evidence it affects fertility. "

Has there been much of a study yet? Most women of child bearing age have not really been vaccinated yet so how much do they know to be able to say there is no link

Being challenged on an open forum us something that goes with the territory, with respect no one has attacked you on here..

And making a gross misrepresentation on the sites members based upon the tiny number that use the forums is possibly not the best method imo..

Evidence of younger women who've been vaccinated in America would suggest there is no effect on fertility.

most of the people who have posted have been learning stuff from kinky couples posts for ever a year now

it has nothing to do with egos or being close minded or wanting to personally attack you , its about not just accepting vague unverified information that goes against all the scientific knowledge people have gained during the pandemic

Ok I have read and re read the suggestion and am still non the wiser, are they saying if you are standing next to a woman who is vaccinated that you will get a heavy period? If so I hope not as I haven't had any at all for 8 years and I will be right hacked off if they start again !

The suggestion isn't to my knowledge that merely standing next to someone would be sufficient and common sense wouldn't have suggested that either, obviously pro-longed exposure is what was meant but then the people shooting down such claims are often only out to ridicule rather than question or investigate anyway.

I've personally read numerous accounts of women who's partners, work colleagues, friends or family have been immunised sometimes without their knowledge although they themselves haven't and then them also experiencing changes in their menstruation, someone has pointed out that the spike protein the vaccine programs RNA to produce cannot be shed so it remains an unsolved mystery but one along with the now BBC documented rise in cases of women experiencing heavier or in the case of a few returning periods that deserves attention and investigation.

"

It's a dead parrot..

It's not live virus used in Pfizer, J&J, biotech or Moderna therefore it can't be shed..

It's a piece of mRNA telling your body to produce a spike protein which can be shed.

Hence why they had to look into occupational exposure caused by contact with the test subject.

Feel free to read Pfizer own documentation

What does shedding part of a virus do? If it's true, why is it bad?

Well in the case of the Polio vaccine that went wrong it caused those vaccinated to actually spread Polio.

This doesn't seem to be the case with the Covid vaccine.

However Women living with those vaccinated are reporting changes to periods.

It may turn out that the shedding is harmless, but the media labeling anyone who talks about it as conspiracy theorist will only stunt the study of the subject.

"

this is not true... it's already been made very clear that you can not become affected by someone who has has the virus. What your stating as fact is actually just misinformation being spread...

Again taken from the source this is about

This is physically impossible.

Most Covid-19 vaccines work by giving the body instructions to make a tiny fragment of the virus's distinctive spike so it can learn how to fight it off. The spike protein, which cannot reproduce, then disintegrates or is destroyed.

The mRNA - the instruction to make the spike protein - is also extremely fragile. That's why those vaccines are so hard to store and transport, because the genetic information falls apart and becomes useless very easily.

None of the vaccines allow any part of the virus to replicate, let alone shed - the only thing replicating are your immune cells which produce antibodies to fight off viruses.

"

“An occupational exposure occurs when a person receives unplanned direct contact with a vaccine test subject, which may or may not lead to the occurrence of an adverse event,”

...

Anyone who doubts it should take a look at what happened with one of the Polio vaccines and Shedding. Plenty of confirmed science out there "

The keywords being "may or may not" - that document is protocol for carrying out the study. It does not contain results , it's the rules for operating the safety study. They're specifying that they're going to check all interactions for potential exposure events, just in case; it's not an admission of anything other than caution.

Polio vaccine, at one point used attenuated (crippled but not "dead") virions; potentially capable of some replication, but no credible threat to a normal immune system.

mRNA technology doesn't provide a replication mechanism to spread the mRNA, and neither can the spike protien replicate inside a new host, should it somehow find itself there.

To be fair this doesn't seem much to go on. I know from experience that you can get heavy periods out of the blue at any time and then they go back to how they normally are the month after. If women did get them after a person they knew but didn't stand too close to had had the jab then it will probably be a coincidence

It does seem far fetched to me but after this year, who knows anymore

Iv had the implant for just over 3 years and only had 2 periods in that time.

1 week after I received the Phizer jab I had one.

Is it because of the jab?

Possible but more likely I would have had one anyway as its due to be changed, have I had one since no.

Its caused me no issues so even if it was caused by the vaccine I'm really not bothered.

Hi - there is currently quite an investigation into this, and yes this is thing and quite a large number of groups of women all report this.

People who have had the vaccine could be what called shedding, we can’t see or it smell think of it like pheromones. We know they are a thing. We all know women living in a commune find synchronisation on their monthly cycle, a well known fact yet little is know how or why this truly happens, so if the vaccine causes a change in body conditions, which one would hope it does or no point taking it, just maybe there is a deeper change that’s yet to be understood, I mean I don’t think one person on here can say that it’s absolutely not happening. we know is there is a large growing number of women reporting it who have never had issue before, and we know the vaccine has taken less than a year... just something to consider.

I think it is exceptionally unlikely that me standing near an unvaccinated women would cause her to have a period!

Yes its true woman who regularly spend a lot of time together can sync, most of the girls in my class at school did but how is it even possible to shed vaccine?

To add after reading a few more replies, whilst the vaccine cannot should not replicate it may create a reaction in the body, it’s that reaction and change in a persons chemical make up that could give off to other people, it could be messing with a mechanism that a woman’s body is attuned to. It may be harmless it may not be, but it needs to concluded either way.

Ok maybe not shed vaccine, but the a product of the bodes reaction to vaccine causing and eventual reaction in women, some women I’m sure are more in tune than others is suspect.

“Yes its true woman who regularly spend a lot of time together can sync, - so what is the mechanism that causes this ?

most of the girls in my class at school did but how is it even possible to shed vaccine?” We are made of chemical and electric. It’s finely tuned, it can easily be unbalanced. Any drug placed in the body can unbalance the ecosystem of your body...

There's no investigation into the possibility of shedding the vaccine, as others more qualified on this thread and global scientific experts in the field have said it can't happen..

The issues with menstruation etc are being looked into and rightly so to see if this is a side effect..

For starters the bbc are onto it, but groups are pushing for investigations, now it’s in public domaine is has to be investigated as an adverse effect by law I believe.

The body has many biological mechanisms - an example, look at diabetes and what effects it has on many parts of the body, it’s one of world leading causes of illness and very few know they have pre diabetic symptoms.

As for which this could be... that is what needs to be investigated. Maybe it doesn’t effect women who had their wheatabix for breakfast who knows, only it’s a real complaint and that there has been a huge increase of these adverse effects by non vaccinated women - period

Who is investigating it? What is the biological mechanism by which this would be possible?

This is the latest theory from some intent on disinformation who have by and large been shown to be wrong as the pandemic has/ is progressing..

We're in unchartered water and only time will tell."

I think it's most likely a side effect to Covid circulation amongst us rather than a side effect of a vaccine. To say you can catch this in close proximity to someone who has been vaccinated appears fanciful at best and more likely to be the work of the antivax mob.

Real world data from over 90,000 pregnant women in the USA has provided the evidence to include pregnant women in the vaccine programme.

"Hi - there is currently quite an investigation into this, and yes this is thing and quite a large number of groups of women all report this.

There's no investigation into the possibility of shedding the vaccine, as others more qualified on this thread and global scientific experts in the field have said it can't happen..

The issues with menstruation etc are being looked into and rightly so to see if this is a side effect.."

side effect of having the vaccination sure

but a side effect of being around vaccinated people? surely they are not wasting money investigating that

"Pfizer, biotech, Johnson and Johnson and Moderna do not use live virus in their vaccines so a person can't she'd them post jab..

This is the latest theory from some intent on disinformation who have by and large been shown to be wrong as the pandemic has/ is progressing..

I think it's most likely a side effect to Covid circulation amongst us rather than a side effect of a vaccine. To say you can catch this in close proximity to someone who has been vaccinated appears fanciful at best and more likely to be the work of the antivax mob."

Surely, thinking biological plausibility, if shed spike protein were a risk, then those with Covid would be a much higher risk to others? As the replication of the spike protein happens via known mechanisms and all

Doubt it..

Which will only serve to fire up some who think it's another piece of the puzzle..

Isn't that for women who are already pregnant rather than possible fertility problems in women ?

1) There's no biological mechanism by which anything is shed by vaccinated people. Not mRNA, not spike protein, not SARS-CoV-2. Nowt.

2) Women's menstrual cycles can and do vary in length, heaviness of flow etc. This is most often idiopathic (i.e reason unknown). I've pretty much never had a regular period in my entire life, for example.

3) Blood clots are normal in the menstrual flow. They are nothing to do with vaccines.

4) Some minor, temporary menstrual changes have occurred in other vaccines (HPV, for example). The BBC article I shared earlier explains this.

5) Data from over 90,000 pregnant women observed in the USA have demonstrated that the vaccines are safe.

6) Yes, some women appear to fall into a common pattern of menstrual cycles with other women in their household. However, studies have shown this happens no more frequently than if it were simply down to chance alone. It has absolutely nothing to do with vaccines or other medication. https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-37256161

Yes, because actual pregnancy has the theoretical chance to be impacted by a medical intervention.

The deputy chief medical officer for England, Jonathan Van-Tam, when answering questions from BBC viewers, said: "I have never heard of a vaccine that affects fertility." There is no biological mechanism by which the vaccines can impact fertility. Vaccination is recommended by the professional bodies representing fertility specialists. I can't link, but the title of the article is "The Association of Reproductive and Clinical Scientists (ARCS) and British Fertility Society (BFS) U.K. update to COVID-19 guidance."

A reputable news source lol....pull the other one.

At some point Nov Dec 2019 Jan Feb ...2020...some wise sages were saying... Pfft.... Its only a virus similar to flu, doesn't seem that we need to worry about it.. or take any actions or interventions to restrict its movement or transmission, or prepare for a tiny outbreak, let's let people move around as much as they want, no need to take any action yet... Ooopsie....if only we had...

I had the Oxford AZ vaccine in May. My April period was missed but a for a bit of spotting and my May period has started a week late. Usually regular as clockwork. I think it’s definitely affected me. Hoping no impact on fertility.

If you had the vaccine in May, how could your April period be affected? Appreciate there might be a typo!

Makes more sense! There's a known short term potential effect of vaccines in general on the menstrual cycle, but not on fertility itself.

Yeah I’ve been reading the stuff that’s come out and I’m too worried. I did get a bit excited when my period missed thinking I was pregnant, but alas no.

I remember what it was like when we were trying 5 years ago. My periods have never been regular and I was convinced a couple of times, but just long cycles. We gave up and started to investigate our fertility and then I fell pregnant. What I'm trying to say is this sort of thing is pretty normal in the "trying to conceive" experience, I think. Best wishes to you
