Oh, well, if it's in the Mirror the it must be true, eh?

Every bit as bad as The Sun but aimed at other side of the political spectrum

Although the scientist's view might have some validity, if it's true

I don't think so.

Can the good professor tell me the following so I can take a decision ?

1. What is my currently immunity / antibody level post 1 vaccination ?

2. What will that be after the second, and how long after ?

3. Am I protected from new variants ? What level of protection ?

4. Regardless, is it possible to be a carrier and affect others unwittingly ?

No thanks. I'll stay inside.

I really wish people didn’t tell random strangers to

A- go out and do what they want

B- don’t go out and do what I tell you.

Let’s just all stick to the roadmap. For gods sake it’s not long to go now.

It was actual Prof Tim Spector saying this not Prof Van Tam, it's just the article is badly written (suprise!) and starts by mentioning Van Tam.

I also don't think he's saying people actually 'should' be going out and doing that (as I'm encouraging them to), but that the levels are low enough that they 'should' be able to (as in he thinks it's probably safe enough to).

That's two slightly different things.

It still needs confirming and being made legal, which I'm sure is coming soon.

I hate the way everything gets twisted, I think they are basically trying to say it's possibly safe enough to do this now but it still isn't allowed.

We are literally 2 months away from getting our lives back to some semblance of normal, don't fuck it up now by bending the rules to suit yourself.

We have all made sacrifices and suffered, don't let it all have been a waste of time after losing over a year of normal life.

Actually prof van tam actually was asked a question in yesterday presser and he said please don’t rush to get back to normality yet and stick to the present timeline as not to lose all the gains made… but it was looking promising that dates won’t need to be changed

Yep. Pretty certain that's what Prof Tim Spector was trying to say too, but his wording wasn't great and the Mirror's reporting was awful and made it sound like he was encouraging going out when he wasn't.

The media twisting and confusing things? I don't believe it!

The papers should be held jointly accountable for a lot of the mixed and confusing messages this last year.

I haven't seen mine for about 2 years now due to her having COPD, and us having nasty coughs before Covid hit.

However, I have no real issues with others bending / breaking the rules in some cases like this, but do have issues with people breaking them just for fun.

We shouldn't be so eager to throw blame because someone has broken the rules as the rules can't factor in every situation. We need to have a little flexibility and compassion in the way we think.

It's like a mate of mine said, most of us have probably broken the speed limit by a couple of mph or know someone who has and we don't think twice about it, however most will probably also condem someone who goes double the speed limit. At what point does it go from ok to wrong? There is no clear answer and everyone's answer will be different.

So in these cases, let's not get too judgemental when someone has weighed up all the facts and made a difficult choice that may be different to ours.

"Dementia wasnt mentioned...changes my thoughts completely "

My Dad with dementia has been in our bubble but sometimes it's my brother who's had to deal with things. Dad needs someone with him for all medical appointments, for example, because he can't remember things like yes, he's had a knee replacement or yes, he has glaucoma etc. He can't retain any new information at all and is struggling to remember with any accuracy events within the last 20 years and growing rapidly. He chats about his Grandfather, who died in 1947 when he was 8.

There's no way my Dad would be here now if my brother and I had just left him on his own (because he does live alone). I'm all for following the rules but managing family members who are ill, elderly or disabled requires a degree of latitude for the individual situation.
