"Is that in Wales?"

I've reread the article and your right this applies to Wales.

All the UK has until May 17th is "To make things easier for larger families, two households of any size can meet. A support bubble counts as one household."

It does get confusing, as the different nations have different rules. It's all going the right way, that's the main thing!

I also think you are still supposed to socially distance indoors until June......but who would know?

Yesterday Van Tam said if both people have had both vaccinations it is safe for them to mix indoors without restrictions, although it is against current rules.

I have to say its all very confusing and the whole 4 nations doing things differently just adds to that.

It's no wonder that almost everyone I know has now given up on even trying to follow some of the restrictions now.

Most folk I know will say they don't try to take the piss but they will go see close family and close friends. Some think that's allowed now anyway, some aren't sure so throw around the word bubble to justify it (without understanding the bubble system of thier country) others know its not allowed yet but they have all been vaccinated so have decided that's as good as it will ever be protection wise.

And you can see why people are doing this

Lots of people I know will take that as a green light to be able to visit vaccinated friends / family (both parties vaccinated).

Maybe the goverment and Tam want that to happen, this way some will do it now and the rest when its official. So its a little more incremental rather than jump off a cliff / all at once??

There is an investigation into whether all fines issued for breaching Covid regulations are justified. The investigators counted that rules in England had changed 65 times.

That's what I thought!

Yet the article says in wales from May 3rd 2 households can mix indoors and have indoor contact which many would take as physical contact i.e. no social distancing.

Groups of six from different households can meet outdoors now. If you all sit round a picnic table your faces are definitely not 2m apart !

I agree with you. Many people have families in the different nations and their rules are all different, hopefully it will all change on May 17th.

Will the May 17th rules be more consistent across the 4 nations?

Definitely not 2m!

Last year when I marked out socially distances training rooms the 2 metres is actually a really wide space when you hold up a 2 metre stick its suprise how far from somebody else that is.

Desks also needed to have 2 metres space at each side and in front and behind. Huge halls ended up with a few desks sat like little islands on their own.

It's a much bigger gap than is really possible to uphold in most indoor spaces inc supermarkets.

Let's hope so, I think that's the idea. We all still have to take personal responsibility for our health and others.

I was in town yesterday and it was very busy, not much social distancing. I'm still wearing a mask when I'm out, just my choice.

Zoe (covid symptom study) have said its pretty much gone here in the UK and we are approaching the lowest levels it will get due to it being endemic.

Now its what we do about international travel. Me. I'd like to see it banned until 2022.

So I think masks will be a societal thing for a few years now. More of a precaution and comfort thing rather than a neccisity

No. I don't think we will see consistency until August.

The social distancing and face mask review on the 21st June should be fascinating.

I think a bubble counts as a hpusehold, so maybe 2 orgy bubbles could work, for a social?

Those I'm more aware of the English situation with the 65 changes, not the Welsh.

Yep, people are very quick to put the blame on the government, not realising its the general public spreading it.

Not in this instance. Its forming a bubble with a second household, so no distancing, but you can ONLY meet that household.

As can 2 separate households of any size. So a family of 5 can meet one other family even if that makes more than 6.

For better or worse, devolution is a reality, so of course independent decisions are made.

Surnames beginning with the letter A-L can meet up in parks beginning with a consonant on the 2nd Wednesday of a month beginning with a vowel. However those families that have surnames beginning with the letter M-Z can meet with families who's name begins with letters F-T. They can meet in groups of no fewer than 78.3 in village squares in villages who's name begins with the letters G-W on the third Wednesday of a month that begins with a consonant....provided that the village has an even number of residents.
