"Thank you everyone. I’m suffering from extreme fatigue, breathlessness, shaking and weak. I’m forcing myself to walk every day, because I’m a firm believer in exercise being a good cure, plus, my dog does not agree with too much rest. It is affecting me emotionally too, as I’m normally very fit and active. I also have random severe neck pain, probably not linked. " Is it worth speaking to your doctor to get a covid antibody test? My friend thought she had long covid and that's what her GP to rule it in or out. It came back negative. This led to further tests which showed she was suffering from a rare bacterial infection. "Yup. I had covid in December. Got off pretty lightly at the time. I still can't smell or taste, now I'm at the point where I can't eat many things due to parosmia. I'm still exhausted all the time too. It's no fun. " I’m sorry, lovely . Hope you make a recovery soon.

I couldn’t even make it up one flight the other day, had to sit down half way up " Sorry to hear that. Will be an idea to speak to your GP about it. Also there are several long covid recovery clinics across the country that provide help and rehabilitation, so you can try those too. Get well soon.

"Doctor suggested I may be suffering from this, although I have no idea whether I’ve had COVID or not. Is anyone suffering from this, and would they mind sharing more about it? Thanks " As with any illness there are differing levels, if you are not being referred to heart or lung specialists then I would say you are on the less severe scale. In the main, fatigue is a big issue for many. The best thing you can do is eat well, listen to your body and when required rest. You have my best wishes and hopefully after a few months you should feel in a much better place. It’s estimated there’s around 2 million diagnosed with LC currently in the U.K. so you’re by no means on your own. There’s also a lot of study ongoing into the issues and I would hope this means treatment and management of the issues will improve steadily. X

"One supplementary thought, you should be being tested for antibodies to be diagnosed... if you haven’t been then speak to your GP as you need to know if it is indeed covid based and not any other issue. " I was just going to say this and also my concern is people are gonna be told if their condition isn't obviously explainable than it has to be long covid. I had a friend who for 10 years was dismissed by her GP and told it was just "women's problems" then she was told it was IBS then Fibromyalgia. Turns out she had none of these and it was endometriosis and By the time they investigated properly it was so severe that she had to have a large chunk of her bowl removed. So like I said my concern is some people will just be dismissed as having long covid without proper investigation.

Pain relief, physio and lots of exercise and getting back into work has helped. It's been a difficult time for lots of people and being stuck indoors is the worse part. You are doing the best thing. Maybe two months to fully recover with courses of antibiotics and strong steroids to try increase the loss of lung function. Relapse about a month ago, currently struggling to breath and from going from cycling 100k at weekends and gym fit to nothing is mentally hard to take. Hoping to see a specialist in a week or to and see what exactly is the damage. Very dishearting known you can't just shake it off

" It's linked, poor sleep, poor breathing will tense up your neck, especially if you have started to breath through your mouth more and not your nose. Letting you mouth take over breathing and only using your neck and chest muscles instead of your abdomen, will cause the upper chest and neck muscles to tighten up. I am speaking from experience (Never had covid). I have dysfunctional breathing and it's poorly known about as it gets confused for poor fitness and or asthma. Get a foam roller and learn to stretch your neck, this works straight away. You tube is good for this. Get well soon.

Fatigue is a very common sequelae following a virus. Physio and occupational therapists are ideal professionals to get advice on the best route for recovery. Good luck.

"I’ve heard tell there is definite evidence that long covid is running riot in the public sector. No idea if there is any truth in it though. " At this stage most if not everyone has gotten some form of COVID either as a full blown dose or a limited fo following thecroinds of vaccines. I know people they got vaccinescthst suffered enormously. No one knows why long COVID affects some and not others because people are still free tracking. The same goes for the people who get infected and the ones who can't seem to be infected by the virus. Each indirperson is different and what can be a nightmare for person A is nothing for person B but person C will have long last effects. The biggest issue is the lungs. If they are damaged, then your oxygen levels are reduced which will definitely slow you down. 20years from now, we will prob have another version of COPD as a result of all of this. All you can do is mind yourself as best you can in the here and now

Coffee tasted foul for a while and, while that's improved, it still doesn't quite taste the same as it did. Onions smell like something rotten, definitely not onion, but it tastes fine. I can't stand the taste of eggs anymore which is a shame as I love omelettes. Weird. " For me the smell of certain things is altered and for quite a while I could smell something that wasn't there. I had Covid quite bad in November .. It's a symptom but I wouldn't say I have long Covid as I am otherwise fine ...

"Since having vivid in April /May I feel extremely tired all the time now, and any exercise severely depletes me Mentally I still feel foggy at times " But amazingly can still pose for staged photos very recently? We clearly have different definitions of "extremely tired"!

"The truth is doctors and scientists still don’t know if long covid is real or not. Whether it’s physical or psychological, and whether it’s just the same as post-viral fatigue that effects people with other respiratory viruses. I’d say ask your doc for more info because people on this forum won’t know when even exorcists haven’t figured it out yet " Wow I have no idea why autocorrect autocorrect changed “scientists” to exorcists haha

"Is there a correlation with Long Covid and the ability to have paid sick pay, partner support, general lack of fitness ,unhealthy eating? There will always be outliers to any story and situation. However i would love to understand how many people with LC had underlying health issues or reduced immune responses prior to the pandemic" No paid sick pay. No partner support. Healthy eating and exercise always

We clearly have different definitions of "extremely tired"! " Definitely... I used to do three gym classss a day, and walk 10-20km. Now i can only walk 10km and do one class and it wipes me out I now get up at 8am instead of 7am..i need the extra time in bed (pre-pandemic i used to get up at 5.30) Standing still for a photo isn't particularly strenuous.. But i did take a month off videoing and photographing my pants for approval as i was too tired to do it daily and be at my desk in time for work. Everything is relative ...

"Long covid is someone who is still suffering symptoms many weeks after having covid. My colleague had covid in January and still can not taste or smell." Husband and I had covid at the same time, my smell and taste took six months to get back to normal, husband was two weeks! Ended up with pericardial effusion which is a long covid symtom.

"I’ve just had the most horrendous nine weeks, never knew I had covid but apparently I did, breathlessness, weak lungs, tiredness like never before. Two hospital visits and I was scared. Now on the mend but still have shortage of breath, I really feel for anyone who had it, I was told that had I not had the vaccine I would have been one of the statistics of the death rates." Ok well that's misinformation right there they shouldn't be telling you that! Who told you that? What about all the health issues deriving from the jaberoonie, companies are now being sued because of the long term affects it has had on some people, makes you wonder, I've never had it I have had covid once but got over it pretty quickly, no long term effects thankfully, yet my friend and work colleagues who have had it have all had some sort of issues after having the jaberoonie so it's just very interesting

I was the same November 2019, Several visits to doc's. Of course then covid wasn't official. They said just a virus and here's some antibiotics. I couldn't climb my stairs without stopping and having to catch my breath, choking like a crisp was stuck, which lead to reaching Was still weak in January 2020, sleeping for 12 + hours. I'm a yorkshire lady and have horses, a typical cold or flu was nothing. What I experienced was off ny scale of viruses.. Since then I'm now 3x vaccinated and tested positive once, no real obvious symptoms.

"Took a walking holiday in the Scottish Highlands.Thought it would help my cardio recovery after 8 months of long Covid... Now I have Lyme Disease from a tick bite " Lol Funnily enough I avoided the ticks in Scotland only to get a tick on my leg back home. Got a red circular rash after about a week. Got antibiotics and hope I don't get Lyme disease later down the line

"I think you long Covid guys have been listening to too much Jeremy Vine show" I share a house with someone who was a non drinker, cycled close to 18miles a day and was in their 30s. They have had long covid for almost 2.5 years, it's effectively left them temporarily disabled and at times been terrifying to see due to things like chest pains, fatigue, "brain fog" and memory loss, shortness of breath, aches and pains in limbs and other things too. If you think it's fake you're exceptionally lucky you've not met anyone that has it, because it's horrendous to see.

"In Ireland it's very interesting, people with a state job get long covid and the rest get short covid . " You are an Ass! I am self employed and already lost thousands of pounds due to Covid. And now I am loosing money every week because my productivity is lower due to covid related cardiovascular issues. Don't be such a glib walker about issues that effect real people and real lives!
