Yeah I don't get enough vitamin D from the sun, particularly as I wear high SPF and stay out of the strongest sun" Yes I wear sunblock n fake tan due to a skin cancer scare, means we block much natural vitamin d, a loading dose of 20,000 for two weeks and regular daily vitamins as lack of folic acid not good, it can make u feel really shitty..... Here we are all down, depressed and glum, much of this is vitamin related too | |||

"the thing is correlation is not causation have they checked the rest of the lifestyle profile of the study subjects? are the women at home and the men out at work for example? i’m a women who doesn’t take vitamin d and hasn’t had covid but i never leave the house , my dad goes out to work and had it - chances are for us its nothing at all to do with gender or vitamins and everything yo do with number of interactions with other increasing probability" I'm not sure the details of this in particular, but I do believe the evidence is building in general. It's a low risk low cost intervention with other benefits | |||

I'm usually in full sun part of the time I'm outside. My GP said even if i was naked outside throughout the summer my body still wouldn't create enough vit D lol. | |||

I've had 4 courses of Vitamin D in the last 6 years and on one now. " A medical article I read said to take vitamin D3 - 50ug (2000iu) per day every day. I use an orange flavoured spray from BS and used to take 1 spray a day as on the box but take 2 now to fit that guidance. | |||

"Now a new study supports the theory that vitamin D – as well as some other vitamins and probiotics – could help reduce a person’s risk of Covid-19. The study, published in the journal BMJ Nutrition Prevention & Health, examined data from more than 445,000 people from the UK, United States and Sweden who contribute to the Zoe Covid-19 Symptom Study app. Information on infections as well as dietary supplements were collated. Among the 372,000 UK participants, researchers found that women taking probiotics, omega-3 fatty acids, multivitamins or vitamin D had a lower risk of being infected with the virus that causes Covid-19 – with the effects ranging from 9% to 14% lower risk among those who took supplements. You will hear more about this today from .gov" *slaps head Well duh having the right levels of all vitamins & minerals, a balance diet and active lifestyle....which is erm healthy is obviously gonnareduce your chances of getting seriously ill of anything & in particular viruses and bacteria as your immune system is working properly. Not all essential nutrients are in the 5 a day that you have, as hugely important as they are. Vitamin D is 1 of them, with our diets typically providing insufficient amounts. Choline is another. We typically create our own Vitamin D via skin sun exposure but this is difficult for many people, due to lifestyles. Away from the equator it also becames almost impossible to get sufficient exposure in the winter, to prevent deficiency. | |||
