has covid made you paranoid now when you get sick?

i feel like i have been run over by a truck, all achy, sweating one minute, freezing the next , sore glands and just totally restless and doing my own head in

pre covid i would just have said im sick and moaned to myself for a few days on the couch

i don’t have the high temperature, no cough, no change in smell or taste, so i’m like 90% sure its just a general bug from meeting friends in the oark when my immune system hasn’t been exposed to anyone else in so long

but any of my family or friends i speak to have gone on at me to get a covid test so i’ve ordered a home one just to be sure

Best to rule out Covid so it puts your mind at ease. Our daughter developed a cold with a cough over Easter weekend. She always coughs with a cold but we got a test anyway. Negative.

Hope you feel better soon!

Better to focus on things that will improve your well-being as much as possible. We are all now more susceptible to mental ill health than before the virus, as the year has stripped away our reserves of resilience that we had, as well as potentially creating new issues for us.

Do the things that will probably help and support you.

One of the times she caught the flu from me.

She doesn't call it

man flu anymore and is petrified to catch it again .

It almost killed her.

Remember she (and you) can pay for flu vaccines at pharmacies if you don't qualify under the free flu vaccine scheme. Mr KC started doing that after a bad bout a few Christmases back.

Pre covid I would completely agree with you but now it's not about yourself it's who you mix with in day to day life, having a test is no big deal and hopefully eliminate covid as the illness.

"Maybe it's a new thing called FLU"

The OP may well indeed have the flu, so she is well advised to take the Covid test to at least rule that out. She may have flu, or the beginnings of food poisoning or a whole bunch of other illnesses. She's doing the responsible thing by getting tested to rule one thing out.

Get a lateral flow test done just to make sure. "YES", is the answer to your question but even still.

I would agree with others, there is no harm at all in getting a covid test. Your symptoms do sound like Flu, but where's the harm in being certain?

Hope you feel better soon.

Start panicking now... there is less than 1% chance of you dying from it, but that is such a high percentage that you should sort out your will ASAP...

I’m not more paranoid.

I had a cold in December and I didn’t think twice about it. Just carried on like normal but with a runny nose

From the land of haribos.

No it havent. I havent really ever been sick, but yes I always do rule out covid, if I come down with something like a cold in the winter time or hay fever like sneezing. I put it down as a seasonal thing.

couple, us we him her.

When I had covid the cough didn't really Start until almost a week, temperature wasn't mega high loss of taste not really, it was more like a peppery acidic taste/sensation kinda like of you ever did that stupid thing as a kid and touched a battery with your tongue.

Point is I had a rake of other symptoms not listed as the top three sign's.

But fuck me I knew I had it.

Fatigue was the very first symptom, and many other things I didn't realise that was covid.

So op best to isolate yourself until test proves otherwise.

As for getting paranoid, definitely yes as someone who was really unwell with it,it's left me weak and fucked basically.

"Maybe it's a new thing called FLU"

We are now well out of the Flu season. It may be a random viral infection but the sweating and feeling cold is signs of a fever. Anyone with a fever should get tested.

well i don’t generally leave the house so i wouldn’t be passing anything on anyway , but helpful to know either way to let me friends that i met in the park know incase any of them are mixing (pretty sure this is where i got whatever bug i have cause its the first ive left the house in about a month)

we don’t seem to have the 20 minute tests on offer in scotland but they have delivered on a sunday and the postbox across from my house also has a covid pick up on a sunday which is all more efficient than i expected

I've been paying for an annual flu jab since 2000. I spent the New Year of 1999 to 2000 in bed delirious and hurting all over. Bloody fireworks going off and people partying in the street, every bang and shout like a hammer to my head. It was weeks before I was feeling halfway decent again. As far as I am concerned, a flu shot at less than a tenner a year is one of the best investments in my health that I can make.

It was a few year back.

She has qualified for the free jab for a while now with her having asthma and never misses the jab these days.
