I just saw this story... I know we have to give a little notice. But we seem to continue to make problems for ourselves with being "too easy".

If as an example travelling from pakistan is high risk now... Why give a weeks notice and create this type of problem. If self isolating after flights was working, we wouldnt be needing quarantine hotels would we?

They didn’t give a weeks notice, I’m pretty sure they gave them several weeks notice. I had a family friend who was in pakistan a about a month ago and they came back a few ago due to the redlist. Another issue is the airline prices went crazy.

As a side note I feel like most people went because they knew they could have a “good time” in a country where there aren’t really any restrictions. For those who have family land/homes (which is often most people) they saw it as going to their second home for normality. I don’t agree with that. Don’t go somewhere there are no restrictions because you’ll be bringing something back!

It's so strange isn't it? Almost primary school child behaviour.though thats probably being unfair to primary kids. You'd have thought they'd have learned, moving fast is the key to this and moving slow almost always has undesired consequences. Presumably by now everyone appreciates that travel anywhere is liable to change at short notice due to the global pandemic.

Probably because of the legal obligations you have to give uk citizens some notice to get themselves home,if they just decided to shut down the government would be obligated to repatriate or pay for them to stay where they are. They cannot just abandon them.

I think people have forgotten the responsibility part of "rights and responsibilities"
