With easy access testing and x2 jabs - should we be starting to think about meeting up with like minded couples again?

The tests are not going to show everyone with infection, they are possibly a useful tool once the country is opened up, after the virus has been more reduced than today.

Many have been stating that even when things are opened, from the earliest at late June, that they won't be rushing to meet. It is still going to take some time for all adults with respect for the wellbeing of others and their own safety too, to have had 2 vaccinations and time to develop full immunity. This will inhibit further growth of the virus amongst us.

Not until the background risk is significantly lower.

I have had both my jabs and test twice weekly for work.

I will still not be dashing out to meet anyone and everyone.

Even when we are allowed I will be sticking with meeting with just a couple of close friends for a good while yet.

The expectation is that when Step 4 on Boris' Roadmap is reached (currently June 21st), everyone will be able to do anything they could before all this started.

Theoretically yes, in reality though the situation is going to be very different and most people are going to be careful for some time. Don’t forget that come 17th May a lot of people won’t have been vaccinated at all and the majority of us won’t have had our second vaccine and time to develop immunity.

But the question was "should we be able to?" Not "do you think people will be willing?" or even "is it going to be safe?"

Personally, I think that the majority will be happy to get back out there doing the things they've missed as soon as they are allowed. I also think that it will be relatively safe at that point too. By the end of June, the majority of the adult population will have had at least one jab and the number of infected/contagious people around will be much smaller... making the chance of becoming infected smaller too.

It looks like, as we were warned a few weeks ago, that April is a slow month for jabs... Numbers have really tailed off this week. Let's hope they pick up again significantly in May.
