Testing in schoolchildren throughout Easter break

I'm not sure if all schools are doing the same thing or not, my children both have to be tested twice a week throughout their Easter holidays.

I find it a bit strange that we have to test them when they are not even attending school, but that is what the school has asked for and for us to register each test result.

I totally understand testing them the day before they return, but it just seems very strange to test them when they wouldn't be attending school for another two weeks.

Why are junior schools not being tested but kids from year 7 are? I don’t think Covid only works in year 7 upwards?

From Monday 29th March groups of up to 6 people can meet outside. Sd this is the week of Good Friday, it's feasible that people could be meeting, as they couldn't at Christmas and could spread the virus.

Testing kids whilst on holiday could discover any increased infection levels. It's ideal for the country as well as the school to know if any changes are happening that are unexpected or worse than planned.

I'm assuming that lots of people will get together over Easter, including indoors.

We signed up for twice weekly testing at the beginning with no set end date for the whole household.

My children’s school have not said anything about testing during the Easter holiday ? only that they have to do the test twice a week whilst term time and to do a test before they go back after the holiday

I think they are all doing things differently, only the children are asked to test at all at my kids school, whereas at some other schools the household tests twice a week.

Thats good news, they are trying to catch any pockets of virus ASAP, that Lets track and trace work. We have have been asked to test twice a week all the way throughout.

It would be great if all schools would ask them do it over the hols as its likely that playdates with other kids and parents will be rife

The household is voluntary but for us it’s a way of supporting the kids, why should they test alone when the adults are also out and about, it’s not just the child’s responsibility. 5 minutes out of your day, at home, to give them peace of mind isn’t much

I agree it makes sense to test the household, they haven't made testing kits available for the adults only for the children.

I will see if there's a way of me getting hold of some though. This has made me understand why they are testing over the holidays now though even why they aren't attending school so it does make more sense to me now.

The kits are available for the household, support bubble or child care, you can either order online or pick up from your local test centre. They give you a box of 7 per person.
