it was sobering at the end when they said that doctors were extending the possibility of him being in hospital until Dec 2021.

I watched this last night and it was a stark example of the almost forgotten/ignored group of people for whom Covid has had life changing effects.

We have no idea of how many peoples lives will have changed as a result of having Covid, from those who will be suffering minor effects to people like Derek who will never return to any type of a normal life and who will need support for the rest of his life

Yes, we have no idea how many people and their families are going through this, in some degree...a real eye opener.

One thing that shone through was the love that Kate has for Derek. It must be nice to be loved to that extent

Oh definitely, great credit to Kate for holding down a job, looking after 2 children and supporting Derek, whilst going through the upheaval of having their home adapted for Derek when he comes home. People who deny the impact of this deadly virus, need to watch this program, very sobering..

If he's been in hospital a year he's very lucky. I had a friend go in because of a problem with her legs, caught covid and died after 5 days in hospital.

Will we ever find out how many? I doubt it, as the data probably hasn’t been captured or isn’t being released. I know two people who had Covid and over 6 months later are still not back to full fitness; these were people who were extremely fit and active. They are still not able to do any form of strenuous activity

No we will never know..

It goes to show even fit and healthy people can be taken down by the virus. Long Covid is a real thing for many.

From what I’m reading on some of the Triathlon and Cycling groups I’m on, is that people are suffering from long Covid more than when they had it. Fatigue and breathless when exercising and the main ones. We are talking about super fit people (I’m not one of them), but I’m struggling to get back to where I was before I had it in January

Thanks. I can’t really complain about the after effects when all that’s suffered are my times and the fact that I now find I’m going to bed earlier.

My times will recover and an early night is never a bad thing

Stay safe, have fun and we can get through to the other side
