Loss of rights

Loss of income

Loss of Public services

Mental health issues

Debt bankruptcy homelessness

Loss of health services in NHS

Loss of right to demonstrate

And our future kids gran kids and their kids will be paying

While the Rich get Richer

And all will be put down to covid

The government will say got no money and control you

We do not live in a Democracy State we are Like China watered down

Lol

So what rights have we lost?

What public services have been lost?

What health services have been lost from the NHS?

In what ways are the government controlling you?

The only thing that is happening right now, is that The World is trying to stop this virus.

The fall out economical will in our opinion be far worse than the Government are letting on , without a good economy social services will be hit hard and even the NHS will suffer cutbacks , 2.5 Trillion in debt ,one of only 4 countries worldwide with overall debt higher than whole years GDP ,we’ll see how it pans out

Hey.. It's not all bad. However, a lot of what you say is either true or likely to be.

The key concern is on two levels I think. Firstly that the temporary measures we are under and will be under remain just temporary. Things like travel and how we live at the moment can't realistically last too long.

Clearly a lot of people are living in what they see as a secure bubble financially and getting furlough payments to keep them going. That won't last and eventually there is going to be a huge reality check when people are told there's no more money many will have a different attitude..I can forsee then the second problem emerging

The right to protest, complain or get upset will have been taken away and become a criminal offence.. Meaning whatever the government do no one can say anything against it, act against it or try to change it.

So people will have to put up with it until there is a change in government through the ballot box.

Lastly and judging from the replies on here already too many blinkered people thinking a government will bring in temporary bills to change things.. You watch.. A lot of the new rules and versions of their new world order will remain permanently etched into law.. Just tiny bits of our democratic rights as citizens taken away with the intent of making everyone a subject and thus more controllable.. It will take time but the Tory party are absolutely going to try and control the population far more than any government ever has before..

Should we be worried? Probably very worried but right now no one cares because its all being done to keep us safe from Covid.. One day that won't be the case. I wonder what their excuse will be then?

What i dont get with all this crap "they want to take our rights away" who exactly is "they" governments,mp,s pm,s change regularly in fact any one of us can put ourselves forward to stand as a mp.What benefit is it taking peoples rights to any of them bearing in mind the law applies to them as well.People really should stop reading crap, everyone has a brain and is capable of sitting down and thinking who are these people why would they want to errode their own rights and for what possible motive.

Not looking for a fight, just trying to bring a little levity to the situation, one would hope a different ruling party would have handled things differently but we will never know & we can only work with what we have.

Not sure what tangent your on but with phrases such as 'new world order' being oft used by yourself and others it's fair to say that the chances of a logical debate based on the actuality of where we are is minimal..

Possibly a confusion between socialism & communism, besides I suspect we would have more of a democratic socialism...the clue being the ‘d’ word.

Central

We get the society that we vote for and create. Austerity didn't end and will continue to expand. The poorest have been hit hardest by this.

The limitations on rights to protest are sgameful and we would criticise any tinpot dictatorship for doing this.

We do have to value what is really important though. We've lost sight of much of that, whilst we've pursued ever more growth, at any cost.

Most people now do respect our health and care services more than a year ago. There are some uncomfortable truths though about how we're levelling down, whilst buying in to the fantasy that it's the opposite.

Controlling public emotions and their most essential needs, such as security and abilities to get food, are definitely routes to manipulate people. Governments have done so globally for decades. Controlling what you have to believe is the truth forms part of that. Up is down, down is up.

The virus has predominantly been handed very badly here. We've been ravaged much worse than many countries. The NHS vaccine rollout is our key success but we can't ignore the horrific reality of most of the year. People who were treated like cannon fodder, whether health and care staff, other key workers, elderly sent whilst infected into care homes etc

I absolutely agree. The most worrying thing is the vast majority are complying without thinking about the consequences. They are willingly absorbing lies, manipulation and vitriol. Feeding the chaos of arguing about inconsequentials while ignoring the huge changes quietly eroding freedoms.

I keep coming back to the fact that the principal U.K. advisor is an anarchist and chaos is the aim. It looks to me as though that is exactly what the U.K. is in.

"

Disagree with that statement, there have been mistakes by countries governments all over the world. There are a number of oveapping cicumstances why we were hit so hard. Density of population, fuckwhits that don't believe rules apply to them, aging population, "obesity" medical research has highlighted is a significant factor, we are are a unhealthy nation, diabetes the list goes on but don't let the facts get in the way of a good conspiracy theory or blind anti government rhetoric.

EU heading into another lockdown, we are coming out. People only worried they may not go on holiday abroad.

Let's see what happens over the next few months.

Got to love a good conspiracy theory, same people who want everything for free and moan that their data is being used. We have a democracy, freedom of expression, free will and the right to choose our government. Political parties always have their own political agendas but fundementaly the impact they have on most honest people's daily lives in the UK is minimal.

Thats what happens when you give the people what they want .. soaps and sports on TV , money in their pocket , booze and other poisons to keep them quiet and docile ..

they think they are contented then don't they ? .. that they are getting a fair deal maybe and life is good .. whilst at the same time the ones higher up the food chain are having a field day safe in the knowledge that no one will notice what is really going on ..

However, slowly it seems the people are waking up .. some of them and seeing things for what they really are .. wait till furlough ends .. then the fireworks are really going to start

Great thread and the full on denial of reality is great

1) 40 odd thousand less nurses ..so the NHS is ??

2)20 odd thousand less policemen...so law & order ??

3)4 million plus kids in poverty ..so ..

4)Most so called " Social services " on their knees

5)Record numbers of homeless families

6)Record numbers in debt

7)Record numbers using food banks

8)Record numbers of Armed forces veterans homeless

9)Record number now living in destitution

....The list goes on and on and on and on but as long as you keep your bit of the pie ?? and Fear is the only thing they know now as it works and quite funny that " Jeremy Corbyn " is bad but i'm guessing some are quite happy to get ..from the government which is classed as ....and also on another note "Open reach/BT)which we gave over 28 millions of our tax payers money to put in broadband and didn't has now been given the go ahead to charge whatever they want for full fibre broadband ..

I would strongly sugest you read better newspapers and watch better news coverage from a reliable source .

What everyone is very conveniently glossing over is that there are TWO sides to this ..,

Firstly there will always be black flag anarchists and class war types itching to take a pop at the establishment anytime they can .. they are FEW in number yet everyone notices them in the media

Secondly there was a perfectly decent , safe and relatively Covid aware protest that happened on the same day in the same city.

It was PEACEFULL! no violence and everyone well behaved . It was aprotest about something that personally I am also very concerned about .. the loss of civil liberties , to complain about how the government treat me/us and the potential criminality of the right to protest in a peaceful way ..

that really bothers me and makes the Uk a very undesirable place to live in my opinion ..

It bothers me because now the waters are quietish and people are being kept calm by having their money given to them for nothing .. some people have been paid a whole years salary for doing absolutely nothing .. whereas others have not had one penny piece of support and you will notice not rioted or moaned too much about it ..

Eventually Furlough will end, taxes will rise, and other things will happen to the economy that pushes people more than they would like.

"To control people youve got to scare them

Ive always said Covid is not our biggest problem what comes after is

Loss of rights

Loss of income

Loss of Public services

Mental health issues

Debt bankruptcy homelessness

Loss of health services in NHS

Loss of right to demonstrate

And our future kids gran kids and their kids will be paying

While the Rich get Richer

And all will be put down to covid

The government will say got no money and control you

We do not live in a Democracy State we are Like China watered down

Remember this post its our future

The next excuse will be the world is getting too hot. And then it will be getting too cold. And the next excuse will simply be the climate is changing. "

Heating or cooling is changing...

It looks to me as though that is exactly what the U.K. is in."

Which chief advisor? And if chaos is the aim, why outlaw protest & who benefits?

" Great thread and the full on denial of reality is great

Someone is from another planet

The Govt must find it really amusing that people are worried about their holidays. Half-hearted indications from Govt about restriction removal in June. Dead cert that. So Doris can have his birthday party. How the behavioural psychopaths must be looking in with glee. The carrot and stick merchants. Now if we apply a bit of stick here let's see what happens. What do they do. The people. The people who are paying our wages to dish out this psychological twaddle. The very fact that the Govt have employed a team of behavioural science so-called experts gives the game away. Why do they need these people? The donkey and the carrot and stick is not difficult to understand. Today, 23.03.2021 Tuesday, Doris slightly withdrew the carrot... (I can just see the behavioural scientists team poring over the way I write the date. Now did he write it using the left hand or right hand side of his brain).

I'm not sure how this morphed intoa hate the rich thread. But I will only say this. Be careful what you wish for. If "the rich" decide to take their innovations and companies elsewhere, who will own and motivate and run the companies that generate lots of jobs for us lot. Not all rich people are bent tax dodging unscrupulous nepotists. Most work hard, provide opportunities for others and pay more tax than most of us can imagine. There are some of course who are not that way.. But then there are plenty of the lazy, scrounging, or criminal element whether rich or poor.

Have no trouble with the "Rich" but now it is getting rather silly the level of wealth and hence power some have ?? and if you work hard and come up with a good idea all power to you !! and we do need to have a grown up conversation soon though about how we'd like "Society" to be ?? or like it to be ?? and Frank Sinatra always mused on the fact that when you are down and out you got hardly anything given to help you out ...but as soon as you made it you got everything given to you for free ??

Agree with that... I think the emphasis is on the grown up conversation rather than the childlike swearing at a handful of names that are in the press. I think there is a much bigger issue of the likes of say amazon (and similar others) who we all use for convenience and then complain that about their corporate behaviours... Some corporations now have larger turnovers than most countries and wield far too much influence....i guess we could not be lazy and support our local butcher Baker and candle stick maker... That's in our gift.

Just because you run a business doesnt make you somehow exempt from paying your fair share on tax.

The fact that people are essentially arguing that rich people shouldnt be subject to the same rules as the rest of us,is quite frankly ridiculous.

No of course not. And that sort of criminal activity is deplorable. And not defending him or any like him or those actions. You can't defend the indefensible. But many people worked for him for many years and provided for their families with their wages. Which they would not have had without his stores.

Absolutely, and the fact quite a few companies have now become so huge that they have undue influence on governments or even collections of govts like in Latin America or EU is bad for us and difficult to reverse.

You forgot the loss of the right to smash things up, burn police cars, hurt the people who we need to keep law and order just for the hell of it because we don’t want to get jobs and contribute to society

Someone is from another planet

Eventually Furlough will end, taxes will rise, and other things will happen to the economy that pushes people more than they would like.

that's when people will want to protest, complain and shout about it .. and that is why the government are doing their best to make it illegal to do so now ..

THAT is why people are protesting now ..Peacefully!

I wish some people would look underneath the shiny covers sometimes

So no police vans were set alight? No shop windows smashed? No cops were beaten up?, I agree that it started as a peaceful protest ( even though I think its fuckin stupid in the middle of a pandemic) but it didn't end that way did it?, or do you deny that anyone was hurt, property damaged etc?"

Please re Read my comment. I think it's all explained in there.. Thanks

In what ways are the government controlling you?

The only thing that is happening right now, is that The World is trying to stop this virus.

Cal The right to protest The right to travel freely just because we can without needing a legitimate reason . The right to not wear a mask whilst in public places The right for private businesses to trade when and where they feel like it. The right to travel internationally "

You are not required to wear masks in public places, businesses have never been able to trade when & where they feel like it...licenced trades, Sunday trading etc

Yeah I have re read your post but in my opinion you are wrong, you seem to just pass off everything that happened that day as nothing because some were peaceful, those that are protesting are putting others at risk and prolonging this whole situation, and in my opinion have no regard for those risking there lives to help save us. Its not that I don't believe in protesting and standing up for our rights but I have seen my young daughter look like she has aged 10 yrs in the last 12 months whilst she is fighting to save peoples lives in hospital and I just wish that people sometimes would think of others a bit more than just themselves.

"Will you remember this post when all this doom mongering comes to nothing?"

****************************************

I'll tell you a true story.....

Some time back, I was skipping through the forum, especially the 'virus' and 'politics' sections.

For some time, I had been aware of certain incredible and plainly crackpot postings, both as original posts or replies to existing threads, on a wide variety of topics.

After a time and at a particular browsing session which contained more than the usual incredulity, I decided to 'copy and paste' the best of the worst into my iphone 'notes' app.

Well, after only a couple of months practising my new hobby, I was both stunned and amazed at these pickings and, in a flash of my (usual) 'gung-ho mischievous' spirit I determined to print out enough of these gems.... BUT.... without any evidence of the original posters and I assembled them all in a folder.

I had my good friends peruse this latter day blend of both 'Comic Cutz' and 'Penny Dreadful' and their reactions alone were worth all my time spent in the collecting.....!!

I eventually burned the lot, fearing their discovery in case of my 'sudden demise', so to speak, when my loved ones would have to organise the huge task of sorting through all my 'stuff'....!!

(Rather more than normal in the clothing department due to my nature, of which all my good friends and family are perfectly happy with.....!)

Then it could be that my writing needs to be improved?

What I am doing is stating a Firm case for legal protest.. So I'm not trying to ' pass anything off'

The Minority... Small number of protestors are ruining it for the good ones.. The ones following the rules, wearing masks.. Did you see them? Hundreds of them!so I am defending their right to do it.. Whether anyone likes it or notb.. Change is coming and people have a right to protest about it peacefully and safely..

Sadly if they don't do it now they won't get the chance to before the bill is passed.. Otherwise I'm sure they would wait.

Final point

You say your child is fighting in the NHS which is doubtless a tough and noble thing to do and deserves respect

But here's a thought.. The slow dismantling of the NHS and the fact that it is understaffed and underfunded will also lead to problems in the future.. If the govt get their way people can't protest or complain and ultimately it could mean your child remains poorly paid, resourced and even made redundant

And people are going to need to be able to complain about that on the streets are they not

Or do you think a 5k fine or 3 month prison sentence and criminal record is justified?

Everyone moans and bitches about rich people but fact is most of them got off their backsides and did something about it instead of the 'just eat' lazy fuckwits who spend majority of there time slagging off on Facebook sitting on Sofa with the PlayStation.

"

Not read beyond this point so not sure if anyone else responded by two pence is...

You are partly right and partly wrong.

There are two types of rich people (generally)

1. Self made who will fit the description you give above. Hard work and talent = reward for them (although there are subsets within this and a fair few exploited workers to generate their fortunes - one example being Philip Green)

2. Inherited wealth. These people tend, for the most part to have a sense of entitlement based on very little action undertaken by themselves. Their privilege and social contacts provide opportunities not afforded to 95% of the population.

Guess which group the majority (not all) of our current government ministers and cronies come from?

Isn't it a bit off piste...? The point of the thread was something about all the freedom we have lost because the communist China / nazi Germany / populist / Totalitarian government are trying to introduce laws to help manage a population that can't be trusted to do the right thing...

So a freedom of speech that we may or may not have ever had and which I (and I imagine a good number of others) have never had pause about, may or may not be removed at some point in the future of this dastardly govts plan for a new world order.

As for freedom of speech... I really wish people were less free to spread any old shit they want about anybody and anything, it's destabilising. There's absolutely no benefit to me in finding out what meghan markle eats for breakfast now compared to then and who serves it to her and whether they are gay straight or a little curvy...

"I'm not sure how this morphed intoa hate the rich thread. "

In terms of the anti protest legislation, I'm guessing this was getting devised somewhere in the background.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that they have tried to sneak it through, during this crises, as it would largely go under the radar.

It's a revelation sometimes here, as you see the spectrum of differences amongst people.

A brief point, highlighting the importance of being able to protest, to make clear our disquiet etc, would probably have had most people agreeing that such a right is what marks out a good democracy. It's when the forum gets flooded with all manner of sheeple-busting posts and threads, covering facets of this and with much hyperbole, that unnecessary division and tension gets established.

"It's a revelation sometimes here, as you see the spectrum of differences amongst people.

Youre right. I think a lot of so called debate on here is people saying what they want to say and just keep on repeating it.. And inflating it with hyperbole. Rather than following the thread of then discussion. There is usually more that unites us than divides us.

"To control people youve got to scare them

Ive always said Covid is not our biggest problem what comes after is

Loss of rights

Loss of income

Loss of Public services

Mental health issues

Debt bankruptcy homelessness

Loss of health services in NHS

Loss of right to demonstrate

And our future kids gran kids and their kids will be paying

While the Rich get Richer

And all will be put down to covid

The government will say got no money and control you

We do not live in a Democracy State we are Like China watered down

Remember this post its our future

Think almost all Governments love control after all that’s why most politicians are in the game along with power ,giving up long hard fought for freedoms is a mugs game as you can bet they won’t want to give it back

It's ridiculous and an indication of our general ignorance, lack of engagement and poor education that most people wouldn't know a single piece of legislation passed in Parliament in the last year, nor appreciate the so called freedoms which they enjoy, nor notice when one is taken away.

It's brilliant that some people peacefully draw it to our attention. It's not brilliant to do so in the middle of a global crisis.

It worries the shit out of me that a grown adult is debating/disagreeing on whether the people in the UK have a right to free speech when we live in a democracy and that kind of suggests it doesn't it?

For clarity it's called freedom of expression and it does have limits ( no heckling and some other stuff I can't remember ) but largely it allows any UK national the right to express themselves in public openly, freely about something they kind of want to freely express! Without being heckled!!

So yes I would say the UK has a right to free speech

Probably because they are getting into the troublesome age groups who personally get less from the vaccine individually but collectively it's a massive help.

Or because as we can see on these threads there are still people who talk utter shite about the vaccine and need help learning about it.

Perhaps to try and allay any fears or concerns of the vaccine hesitant.?

We are fighting our way out of a global crisis so clear communication is really helpful.

Simple - they are commercial entities that rely on advertising revenue. HMG pays well (using tax payers money) as runs a lot of campaigns.

The biggest fear is the fear of not being in control of the fears that one may loose something.

The problem is the confusion about what one is loosing.

You aren't wrong.. Now speed up to the UK in 2023

You can be fined 5k for using. Megaphone near the houses of Parliament

You get 3 months prison for joining a 'protest group / team' or forming a peace camp type protest say where Hs2 is being built for example..

Attendance at any protest could result in a huge fine or prison sentence

The list goes on

See any similarities with China yet?

This isn't fiction or something from social media.. It's what people are trying to make hPen wgislt we are all distracted by Covid..

That's what people are worried about..

Now I need to have an explanation as to how freedom of speech isn’t included in freedom of expression. I see what you say about the explicit difference in the words speech & expression, but the implication seems to be that I could express my opposition through the medium of dance & be fine, but speak about it & trouble would ensue.

It's interesting because notionally we believe we are free to say or write what we want. But we aren't. I don't think there are many if any countries that are. There are caveats (laws actually) that prohibit saying things which are racist, sexist, homophobic and lots of other areas are protected. Defamation... Sedition... Encouraging terrorism. It kind of makes sense...but at the same time depends how you understand that lovely epithet "freedom of speech / expression".

Is it though.? As to me freedom of speech always implies and is used by people who think they can say anything. When it is not the case at all. I couldn't stand in the street and start saying racist stuff... Ergo I have am not free to say anything. Its a little semantic but I think many watch a bit too much American TV. 1. Speech is a form of expression

2. Freedom of speech isn't freedom from consequence, and it isn't a matter of someone deciding to take offence. There are limits on free speech in the UK, just as there are in the US. Ask Snowden or Assange about that.

"I do wonder sometimes . People on here state about freedoms of speech etc being taken away. Perhaps they should look at countries such as China and a few others. This site would not exist. Plus look at the reporters who have gone “ missing “ reporting about covid there. Internet is controlled etc.

There are no freedomof speech rights in the UK, people think there are because they watch tv and movies, there are not.

Please explain..

I already did, the UK has no freedom of speech, its an American thing.

You mean as we have no written constitution?

To be fair it seems pretty clear the guy doesn't have a clue so asking for an explanation is a fool's errand

If you mean I dont have a clue, i look forward to you educating me by providing proof of our Right to free speech.

When you do I will happily apologise for my lack of knowledge, (no one ccan know everything), however when you fail, i will also expect an apology.

I said no freedom pf speech. you answered, we have freedom of expression, which is not the same.

I also said people confuse American laws and uk laws and many think we do have freedom of speech.

Seriously?

No its not different..

Have a day off maybe?.

It's different because it is not called freedom of speech. also if someone decides to take offence at something you say, you can be fined or imprisoned. that is not freedom.

You can say you're offended but no one is getting prosecuted unless the law has been broken and a judge finds you guilty...

So we're not free to leak confidential information? Glad you accept there are limits to free speech as well

I think people genuinely don't realise that disagreement or thinking something is inappropriate isn't curtailing their free speech. It's a reaction.

And yeah, the right to blab confidential information would exist with unlimited free speech. All speech has limits in every place. Imagine that. The tyranny

There are plenty of ideological principles with limitations in real life.

Not closing airports or isolating arrivals to the uk was dithering boris,s worst mistake ,not acting promptly his second, corbyn was never in control so is not relevant ,Starmer is more methodical and would probably done things on a evidence based manner. We will see how bad it has been handled at inquiry but its too late as boris leave or be forced out fairly soon

I tend to agree. I saw a piece about Angela Merkel u turning over easter lockdowns. If the report is to be believed (and its a big if) she said... "I made a mistake, I got it wrong, I ask for the German people's forgiveness"... Now its election season in Germany, she's a politician and I can't stand her..... But...I'd much rather at times he just came out and said... Yeah I fucked up... But can't go back in time so I've learned from my mistakes... Sorry please forgive me and allow me to do my best for you to get us through"... Or similar... Than the bullshit of.. "we did the best we could with what we knew at the time" which is true in some cases and patently untrue in others.

Yes, she's retiring, so the country will have a different person taking her role.

I really liked her sincere and full apology. We don't even get half-hearted ones. It's human to make mistakes and essential to recognise them, to learn from them. Much better than spaffing some Latin over the plebs and carrying on blinkered as ever.

Agree with that. BUT will qualify that by pointing out that the German media, politicians and people are a lot more respectful... Im not sure how well people admitting they make mistakes would be as well accepted in the snake pit of our media and political landscape right now.

True but it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Until politicians grow a pair of balls and stand up and admit to failings and face down the media the media will continue to hound.

I honestly think the majority of the British public would have more respect for an imperfect honest politician than the current crop of lying corrupt twats who are never prepared to admit when they are wrong!

I agree on this, and that our media will geanerally twist anything to suit their agenda. However, it's never too late to demonstrate your genuine human frailty etc - and mistakes are so normal and necessary, when we learn more from them than getting things just about right. Being honest and sincere is never wrong in my book. Neither is showing care and compassion for how we have made others feel etc

Ah but the majority of our “ruling class” went to private schools where they are indoctrinated to believe they are always right and have an intellectual superiority over about 99% of the rest of the population. They are, therefore, never wrong!

I honestly think the majority of the British public would have more respect for an imperfect honest politician than the current crop of lying corrupt twats who are never prepared to admit when they are wrong!"

Well I know I would... I think the people generally probably would... I think the media would go to town on it though..and be forcing resignations left right and centre.

"Not closing airports or isolating arrivals to the uk was dithering boris,s worst mistake ,not acting promptly his second, corbyn was never in control so is not relevant ,Starmer is more methodical and would probably done things on a evidence based manner.

Isn't Angela Merkel retiring soon?

Yes, she's retiring, so the country will have a different person taking her role.

I really liked her sincere and full apology. We don't even get half-hearted ones. It's human to make mistakes and essential to recognise them, to learn from them. Much better than spaffing some Latin over the plebs and carrying on blinkered as ever.

This lot don't do resignations now though. Whether elected, such as Ms P Patel, or unelected, like Cummings and just an employee, there's no motivation for an apology or resignation.

"Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.”

Herman Goering, Nuremberg, 18th April 1946

Maybe take a quick google before hitting the send button.

The clue is in the word 'Nuremberg'.

I had a quick google to make sure he hadn't died before that date!
