The more people who are vaccinated, globally, the greater chance we have of protecting everyone. The more holes in coverage, the more likely it is that variants will arise that will evade the protection of vaccines.

Firstly, there have been hubdreds of millions of doses of the vaccine given, there have been very few recorded "adverse reactions".

Secondly, once the virus is under control, there will be much fewer opportunities for you to catch it. I honestly think that it will pretty much disappear when the majority of the population gave had a jab.

Needles don't bother me, its what they're injecting.

I was advised against getting the vaccine anyway by a pharmacist and the 119 service until my headaches and sinuses clear up.. But not too sure about the vaccine

The variants will still arise, the vaccine doesn't stop you getting or transmitting covid only meant to stop you getting soo ill that you'll be hospitalised

They didn't test for transmission initially because it's the hardest thing to measure. So they told us it wouldn't, to get us to keep being careful.

They're testing it now. The preliminary results strongly suggest that it does reduce infection and transmission.

Which is better for reducing viral mutation, and thus preventing variants.

(In fact the vaccines seem to be better at reducing infection - not just illness - than the polio vaccine. Which is so ineffective that polio is going to be the next disease we wipe off the face of the earth

Polio is all but two countries away from going the way of polio - eradicated.

Have a look into it - it's becoming increasingly likely that the vaccines are even better than advertised.

Many people pass out with needles nothing to do with what’s in the injection

Google paracetamol, contraceptive pill, epidural and lumbar puncture see there know side effects people have them every day

I've seen a few people have issues like that b after being vaccinated. Many find the experience overwhelming after being isolated for so long. Also there are many who are petrified of needles. I work in a mass vaccination centre

Potentially it might... But the vaccine is safe, so why wouldn't you have it? It's just a little prick in your arm. Best to read scientific research rather than unproven statements from 3rd parties.

Far too many! Around 30 cases, none of which are proven, from over 15,000,000 doses... That's a tiny percentage. You stand more chance if getting run over crossing the road.

I have a needle phobia and just can't look at a needle going into my arm or anyone else's for that matter. I'll grin and bear it and get the vaccine but I am concerned about the side effects x

I had concerns as my sister who had her jab had flu symptoms for 4 days.

I had mine last Wednesday. Wednesday evening my arm was tender around the jab area and Thursday I felt tired. I’m pleased I’ve had it done.

Talking with my dad about vaccination, he told me about getting jabs when called up for national service. A hundred fit young blokes all lined up in a gym building, two doctors at the front of the line. The men stepped forwards one by one, stood on a rubber gym mat, one doctor jabbed one arm, other doctor jabbed the other. One in ten of the men ended up flat on the mat, big ruffty tuffty blokes fainting dead away at the sight of the needle... Dad walked out fine, though said he felt like he'd done three rounds in a boxing ring the next day. Didn't do him any harm anyway, he's 89 now and still going.

My parents have had the first jab and my mum was very tired afterwards. They get second jab on the 10th April and my mum's worried about getting flu like symptoms. My sister has had her first jab and she's been ok except for feeling tender like you x

When I was a child, my GP helped me get better at my needle phobia. She told me that it wasn't anything to be ashamed of and that prison guards often fainted.

I had my second (Pfizer) jab yesterday, no ill effects apart from a bit of a sore arm.

I feel quite relieved to have had it, and am going forward feeling like I have given myself the best possible chance of getting safely back to normal.

Apparently positive cases are highest in the 30-40 age bracket at the moment which is enough to tell me that the vaccine given to those 50 and above is working. Can’t explain the 40 to 50 thing unless many are vulnerable, in job roles that were deemed critical or just lucky enough to get vaccinated earlier.

I know some that have suffered for a few days after but I know I’d rather have a dead arm and cold symptoms, like I did, than risk full blown covid that has now killed 7 people that I knew directly! X

However, given that I’ve already had Covid, as has my partner and kids, I’m not exactly over the moon at having to be jabbed when my body already has the antibodies.

I’d far prefer having a blood test to check my antibody levels (my fear is stuff going in my body, rather than blood coming out for some reason).

Principle being the same as Chicken Pox, if ive had it, I wouldn’t be running to the GP for a newly created vaccine.

When they down-size the needle and reduce what looks to be 50-60mm of steel down 25-30, then I’ll reconsider. Whilst ever a nurse is having to nip and pulling up a good inch of skin to accommodate the length of the needle without hitting bone, they can jog on.

If you don't get vaccinated and then suffer hospitalization as a result of covid then you'll risk exposure to some far more dangerous substances. My father died from sepsis in a filthy nhs hospital. He would have lingered but they injected him with something to help his passing that stopped his breathing.

You need to get it done in Derby or Nottingham. Had mine done yesterday. The whole hypodermic was less than the length of my index finger and the actual needle was about 15mm. It’s tiny compared to other injections.

Can’t guarantee it’s the same across the rest of the uk but don’t see any reason why they would be using longer needles for a subcutaneous injection.

At first that was what was thought....but since millions of doses have now been given....in many cases it DOES prevent ANY symptoms and appears to prevent transmission by as much as 80%. Vaccines working far better in reality than in trials.

37 cases of clots in 17 million A/Z vaccines. Statistically with no Covid and no vaccine you would expect over 40 cases of clots.

What? I had mine last week, the needle was a teeny tiny thing, 20 mm at the absolute most. They're injecting into muscle tissue, not into a vein. It's not like having a canula put in, or having blood taken, where they have to find a vein. This was about one second to jab just under the skin and squeeze a tiny amount of fluid in. Without looking or being told it was done, I don't think I would have known about it.

I'm not desperately keen on needles myself, but this was probably the most painless medical procedure I've ever had.

You take your chances. You need 1 person to infect you. As fewer people are infected, it still needs people like you to be able to survive here. You will remain as someone who could then infect others, not knowing that you have even been infected. Those people who you infect may be those who aren't fortunate enough to have the choice of having the vaccine, unlike you.

Do you value others? Do you want sex with others and not want to risk their lives by infecting them with serious illnesses? Do you test regularly for sexually transmitted infections?

Absolutely. I work in the covid clinics and some people really get themselves in such a state. Nothing to do with the vaccine just panic attacks. Last clinic I did we had 4 nearly pass out 2 before the vaccine and 2 after.

Out of curiosity, I looked up the reference and immediately above the needle dimensions it has:

“ CNS for Dilution (BNT162b)

• Needle and syringe for dilution (not used for administration to patients)”

So it’s not the needle used to inject the vaccine but the one used for making up the doses. All the other ones are tiny by comparison. I sat watching the nurse making them up on Friday whilst I was having mine.

Antibodies do not last forever, they are produced by the immune system when they detect a problem such as an infection.

The vaccines are designed to stimulate the immune system into developing antibodies that fight that infection, hence why an MMR vaccine is no good for Coronavirus.

Once the infection is over the antibodies will gradually fade away however the immune system has learned and should the infection or a similar one appear then new antibodies will be produced.

If you have the jab , it doesn’t stop you from getting it . Just doesn’t make it as bad . This means we can still pass it on . So surely if you dont have the jab then that’s up to you ?

In time I’m sure the government will make it compulsory I’m not sure . Maybe you wo t be allowed in restaurants, cinemas etc without it .

my worse needles experience and like most im scared of needles, i had to give blood to find out what was wrong with me.... turned out to be IBS... i should also mention i hate the sight of blood i go as white as a sheet, anyway the nurse said "oh it wont take long im only taking a little bit" 5 minutes later she has taken 6 vile's of blood, the needle was painful and seeing the sight of blood.... i went all dizzy thankfully didnt faint tho

No. The flu is a weaker version. Covid is something else.

The mRNA platforms are much quicker to produce. Attenuated vaccines also exist (China), and they work, but are not in the UK.

You in Birmingham and the other numpty in bexley are no doubt gifted, but mere mortals like myself, living in the forgotten end of the uk are faced with a 190 mile round trip to get a vaccine.

Ill have to drive 95 miles after a vaccine that has caused illness, back home. Luckily, due to the time booked, should get back home in daylight, providing that the weather isnt too bad.

I like many others have,and i feel ok to drive. I have genuine reservations also regsrding the speed of rollout compared to other vaccones.

The idiotic remarks by you and the other numpty in Bexley regarding bollocks like microchips is typical of the stupidity encountered here.

Im in a remote area so deciding on the risk factor of driving 95 miles after being vaccinated, besides concerns on rushing out a vaccine.

Statistically those who had the jab have actually shown less instances of blood clots than occur on average in the population. The clotting issue simply doesn’t exist.

I always genuinely worry I have said the wrong thing/gone too far. But it IS all about YOU and your assessment of the risks. If you don't want it, don't have it- decision made, job done. But don't look to get approval from the vast majority who DO want to have it. Anti vaxxers are not people who don't want the vaccine: they are the whiners and 'have to be right-ers' who go on and on about it. Meds and a lie down now lol.

I’m pro vaccine, not a wimp and very rarely unwell. I’ve been unable to function since my jab at the weekend. I’ve had awful pain in my arm like a trapped nerve, headaches, night shivers, aches and pains and (oddly) a raging thirst that won’t go away. I called the GP just to check, was told to keep taking paracetamol.

I don’t recall ever having had a bad reaction to a jab before.

But I doubt I’m unique in feeling quite unwell. It’s certainly made me not look forward to the next dose.

I had the Pfizer jab and I felt like I'd got the flu the day after, felt so worn out,took me a couple of days to properly get over it but I am so glad I had it, don't regret it at all, sooner have that than covid.

Yeah it might be scary yeah it hurt a little but it's better than running the risk of dying to a virus.

I recieved my vaccination, arm was sore/tired for a day felt like I'd been lifting something heavy plus it felt like a minor sunburn for about an hour, other than that nothing.

Nobody Knows Yet... The true side effects... of C19 Vaccine. So let no-one Judge... Hopefully there will be more research... I shall wait for more information/research.

Only true if people get vaccinated, I think its personal choice obviously but I'm happy with putting restrictions on people who decide not to have it. So as long as people understand there restrictions, similar to certain countries insisting on yellow fever to visit then im fine.

Those who rely on the enormous depth of credible scientific evidence, wanting to create a safer life for themselves and the rest of the world, have made the highly intelligent decisions to get vaccinated. A few posts copied from Karen on FB, spurious alarm over the tiny needle used for vaccinations that most people hardly feel and notice, is just unnecessary guff that's insensitive and smacks of thoughtless look at me BS.
