"Do you need to have an NHS number to register for a vaccine?"

I would have thought that everyone has an NHS number, even if they don't know what it is.

The NHS number was on my invitation letter. They did ask for it at the centre but wasn't a problem if you didn't have it....probability easier for them to update records. If you are registered with a GP you will have an NHS number.

They were reporting in the news the other week for the people who don't have a NHS number or registered with a GP, including illegal immigrants, to contact their local health providers to get a vaccine without any comeback on them. There are many people in the country without a NHS number for numerous reasons

I've heard, anecdotally, that it helps if you can provide it, but they're making sure everyone here gets vaccinated

From experience, no you don't need it. When I booked mine, it was via a text from my GP, who provided a link to select a time and date. When I got there, I had to fill in a form with some other details, but the form was pre-printed with my name, address, DOB and NHS number, so I didn't need to provide those.

I'd say you're right. For anyone who's ever had a prescription for medication, it will always be printed on there.

NHS number wasn’t on my text message invite, it took approximately 2 minutes to follow the link and book jab.

NHS number wasn’t asked for at medical centre, took about 10 minutes from arrival to departure.

Hell o’ v a system

I walked through the door of the vaccine centre, told to go into room 4 where I found a nurse and a GP. GP asked my name and what time My appointment is. Then asked a few questions about my health. I was pricked and sent on my way. No forms to fill in, just arrived, questioned and pricked. All took about 3 mins
