I don't see international just reopening world wide

Nore do I see the o2 holding a gig for 20,000, or 3000 going back in the theater that quick but there is a plan.

But it will move wate for the delays to start and people will be as disappointed as when there flight I'd delayed. But it will still happen.

OP what do you do in live music.

yes and many people feel this even in people who have followed rules, worked through it or stayed at home.

blitz people said they preferred the blitz

the gym thing is different as you don't get many guns with 500 to 20000 people in them sweating.. but with vaccination passport it should be possible

I'm not a news watcher or a Covid ranter and I'm doing my bit and staying at home etc ..

It's been nearly a year now and these 'rules' don't make any sense.

to be fair the whole announcement was full of clauses, every five weeks so we may not get to the April, May, June ones... what should be announced is a long term plan where it is agreed that is a point... spring 2022 when herd immunity must be tried.. or is that this August

herd immunity is when 60% have been vaccinated.

by July most of the vulnerable classes will have had 2 vaccines, studies are showing high efficacy.

97% survival so to MOST (not all, see vulnerable above..aka vaccinated) will have no issues (yes, there is always anomalies)

the young who are least affected by the virus are the last on the list to the huge vast majority of them, covid is not life threatening or altering not opening up however will be.

Growing mental health crisis, eating disorders, education gap, rich poor gap, homeless, refugees, food banks etc etc etc...it has laid bare the horrors we allow in a rich country!

What I want to see is a huge drive for healthier balanced diets and exercise, alternative therapies like phisio (cant spell it tonight) and holistic like nature venture all very under valued in their benefits to the human mind & its own healing power.

If covid has shown us anything it is that being overweight, poor and over crowded living drastically changes your chances of survival.

and they are not covered even by the suspension of restriction in June

other venues.. theatre size ones will try to open for July.. but its all just hope right now.. obviously this doesn't effect outdoor music

I know people who run smaller venues who opened when they could in summer/autumn time and will do when they can again, it’s more feasible than not opening at all if there aren’t grants available that point!

I genuinely can’t find any clause in the road map guidance that suggests live music won’t be able to happen indoors by the way.

They specifically talk about large capacity events being included in pilots, but not smaller capacity venues. They seem to be included in the indoor entertainment category of stage 3.

I can find no reference to this, but it could be something under consideration. My local jazz and blues club is a small 100 capacity venue. I'd usually sit at the front perhaps three to four feet from the musicians. A well aimed trombone or vocal projection could cause me to receive a dose of the virus. Pre-plague it was certainly easy to know which musicians were smokers and who had used breath freshener!

That could be mitigated by eliminating the whole front row of tables, which would reduce capacity but I'd be willing to pay a higher ticket price.

Even if it's permitted, the prescribed reductions in capacity for indoor events mean it won't be financially viable for venues to open. Less tickets to sell, less punters through the door mean less bar sales, less merch sales and bands will be paid less = less likely to accept gigs.

The Event Research Programme will trial large scale events from April as part of stage 3 of the roadmap, to hopefully be included as part of stage 4. But we will see what comes of it.

It is possible that owners/managers of venues with public performance licenses have been sent documents that aren't available to the wider public.

I'll ask around, knowing people who work in that area. There's certainly nothing in the published material.

I just spoke with someone who is involved in live music and theatre. They are not aware of any such clause. One of their venues is a bar which does live music events so they'd probably know.

each venue will be different.. on the plus side Reading and Leeds festivals have said theyll be going ahead if allowed.. hopefully I'll be working in the industy again by July but a lot of smaller events might be pushed back to September

Reading and Leeds currently don't have any insurance for the festival and are hoping for Government backed insurance. It could all go horribly wrong for them

I really hope that we can perform - I know so many musicians who have not worked for over a year. Personally, although I am doing a lot of teaching at the moment, I love being on stage and have a lot of concerts coming up this year and really need them to go ahead.

It's still possible that OP has been tipped off by someone "in the know" but if the plan is to lift all social distancing rules late June, I can't see how that can be reconciled with limiting small concerts.

I gig in my band multiple times a week and know many venue owners. I’m getting a lot of booking now, festivals are pushing sales and are back on...I’d make sure you have information before talking nonsense

outdoor festival i help run put back to August from May.. my friend with the music pub still not booking till its safe.. no gigs at my other work indoor venues til July at earliest. The clause was perhaps a clumsy wording.. all the road map dates are claused according to numbers of infection i guess

All dates are subject to review, they aren’t set in stone definite dates, it all depends how things go.

All restrictions aren't being lifted that's why. Nowhere was that said. No limit on social contacts and all remaining places to open is the plan. Social distancing will remain in place. Pilot schemes for getting fans back into sports events will happen after June 21st hopefully but with small crowds to begin with, for example. This will mean reduced crowds to start with with masks and distancing and possibly requiring lateral flow tests

I see it as some social distancing still likely, masks and similar for some scenarios.

A review needs to take place and from the paper this will be based on “ The review will take into account the conclusions of other reviews that the government has committed to undertake including on the role of COVID status certification and the return of large events.”

So it’s all a waiting game and not a specific it’s going, as will all the points in the next couple of months.

usually at an elevated position, but thers is a simple solution....mic shields...bit of perspex. simple.

As if the crowd ain't gonna be sweaty, and shouting gto each other anyway.

The netherlands have actually just had a 2 day covid neg test festival, clause is that all intendees had to wear a e/motion sensor (heard on radio news so not sure which) so were essentially guinea pigs.

Biodata is gold atm and folk are giving up privacy rights/freedoms just to be able to live & not just exist.

Unfortunately, it continues to look as if either (a) they haven't got a fucking clue what to do and are making it up as they go along, or (b) they know exactly what they have in mind but just aren't telling us. And so it shall remain. The only thing we can be sure of is that when they fuck it up (again) we'll all get the blame for it (again) Because they, naturally, are impervious to all criticism.

They making all business stuggle so they can bring passports and anything else that people would objects against before

Clubs venue football rugby stadium etc are all on their knee struggling so now they will tell you ul need passport etc and coz you need the money ul do anything to get it

I don't understand that, and I didn't know it was the case. All the playing fields near me have been very busy recently with players and supporters.

Last Saturday 12 parents watched the match. The referee reported us afterwards. An email sent says if there are any supporters at future matches the team will be banned from the League.
