Anyone else had trouble getting a home test kit

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

I phoned for them Saturday for myself and my parents and they said it would arrive the next day but still hasn't come.

So I called them again and they said there was none available and told us to attend a drive through but my parents are to weak for that.

I then phoned them again to request a home test again and I was told that because we have had symptoms for over 5 days we can't have a test now. Apparently this is the rules for Wales.

I've been chatting with a few people on the phone and I had a different story from all of them. Seems like they don't know what they're doing. I give up fuck it what else can I do.

I got one the next day sent by mistake from them but also got an appointment for a test centre the same day.

Very organised in Yorkshire.

I was speaking with people in England one said I couldn't of ordered test kits if I didn't have an email address for all of us (bullshit) and another one who couldn't hardly speak a word of English.

I asked for them before the 5 days but it's to late now.

It was the first time I had tried to get a test so was not familiar but I think each person needs an email address for a kit or a test. It’s not very good assistance for you though.

My parents can't turn a computer on nevermind have an email address and all that. The first man I talked with Saturday just all the details up when I gave name and address and he said it would be send next day. But since then everyone wanted to know out life story for kits and still no good.

Think you need to boot someone up the rear end.

Ring again and ask for a Manager to sort it.

If you do it on line you would do one application per person and each has an email address on it.

Don't know if you could still do it or if you could use the same email for all or if you have more email addresses.

I thought a phone call would of been enough. How do they expect old people to email them.

What's wrong with talking on the phone these days!

We had surge test centres in Bristol and I live in one of the at risk postcodes so wandered down on Friday afternoon and felt as if I didn't do the test correctly. I couldn't get the swab as deep as perhaps I should, so don't expect a DT BJ from me , going up the nose was OK. Results back in 24hrs which were negative.

OP are all three of you displaying sympoms ?

You could all isolate even if you haven't had a positive result

I received a letter last year requesting that should I require a test kit to call the number on the letter and one would be sent out and once tested they would come and collect.... I declined because my immune system is strong and had the virus in 2019 September and October...

You had it before the virus was first occuring in China and before phylogenetics say it emerged? Of course....

Nope. Still isolate for 10 days just in case. I suppose the official positive result is required for employers.

Seems like you're looking for a problem. You've got an email address... You can use yours to order tests for you and 3 others. Which I presume would help your parents out.

I take your point about assuming olders have email or phone and that's why it allows you to do it on their behalf.

Because the virus was identified then I have a very healthy immune system and rarely get a cold I can skip few years without but I had the whole package and was informed via my doctor that others had similar symptoms I saw my doctor following year for bloods not related

Yes I did I always isolate any time I'm unwell it's only way the body is going to recover and not spread germs as this virus acts like a bacterial infection

Yes they were aware but how precisely can anyone say where it is unless people have checked in hospital and do you think just because they say November wasn't sooner because the delay in letting other countries know causes a huge problem they didn't know what they were dealing with to begin with....

I am curious how a routine blood test a year later showed Covid antibodies. Routine blood tests don't include this.

This is remarkable as the index case for the UK is considered 23 Jan 2020 so probably worth letting the who know they are 4 months out and have the wrong individual identified. It might help the scientists.

But surely when his GP saw the presence of antibodies he would have notified WHO.

The problem is I can't get a test for any of us and of course if I could of done it with my email address or set up new ones for them then I would of done it.

You must be worried about your parents, especially as you said they were too weak to go to a test centre.
