"It's difficult with these stats given the time lag from tests etc. The true measurement to use is the ONS excess death data." Agree. I'm starting to believe Prof Ferguson much pilloried numbers were right.

"If you wait long enough every person who has had covid will be dead. " As will everyone else. The truth is: it is really hard to establish the exact number of people who's lives have been cut short by the virus without carrying out a full autopsy on everyone who dies... which is just not doable. The most accurate indication of the real impact on the death figures is the disparity between the current death rate (from any cause) and the average death rate for the last 5 years. This shows a massive increase, far in excess (around 30% more) of the recorded figure of covid deaths

But excess deaths show a pattern indicating just how dangerous this pandemic has been.

There is no guaranteed time limit, so therefore there is no way of cutting one short! There are numerous causes for death, all around us. Lives have been lived for centuries with these risks involved. People have lived and people have died. Then all of a sudden COVID pops ups, and people are made to fear living for the possibility of death. We will all die one day. Don't not live your lives in fear of that day, whatever the cause may be. Enjoy your life to the maximum untill that point, otherwise there simply is no point to it.

"In The Independent Research is showing that one in 10 Covid patients die within months of leaving hospital. This compares to 2% for the control group. Because these deaths are outside of the 28 day window, they are not included in the stats." They’ve been undercounted for months. Time will let but I suspect nationally we are about 20k over the published figures

" There are predictions and measurements as to what we expect re deaths. Big changes mean things have gone wrong. That's how it works.

"There's also a stat for deaths that include Covid on the death certificate. That's more accurate than the 28 day one. "
