Just a quick question wondering if anyone knows. With the lateral flow tests if you test positive and then have the the normal test (pcp?) does that get counted as two cases?

No, but if you have and LFD you shouldn't be referred to do a PCR anymore, as they are now just as reliable. If, touch wood, your LFD comes back positive you'll be asked to self isolate for 10 days without doing a PCR to verify.

Really? What did they do to improve these? The false positive rate on them was pretty bad before Christmas. Esp when self administered

Increased levels and transmission rates have meant that the rate of false positives from LFDs is now very similar to that of PCRs. Might change again now that cases are falling but this has been the official guidance since 27th Jan.

Are you sure? The study i was thinking of was carried out by the Birmingham group in December

They're referenced here in this article just last month referring to the same lateral flow tests the government wants to roll out nationally

Watford

I'm with Amber on this, no requirement to take PCR if LFT is positive.
