Will eurostar beable to do one more journey?

From the land of haribos.

It will, for now, but with covid it have seen a dramatic change as people are travelling less with, it is now just doing 2 journeys a day. I think that it would be a shame if it had to stop, cos I have travelled with them and I like it, the trains are very comfy too, what do you think of its future? I hope that they can make it

Haven't the French been trying to squeeze money out of the UK to try and keep it afloat? That's even with the huge free govt funding and borrowing they have had over the last 20 years. It will survive as it was. A pet political project. Like hs2.

Haven't the French been trying to squeeze money out of the UK to try and keep it afloat? That's even with the huge free govt funding and borrowing they have had over the last 20 years. It will survive as it was. A pet political project. Like hs2. "

No. I dont think it have that, although an essential connection between the countries.

Remember Eurostar only run the passenger trains. The freight and car trains are run by Eurotunel.

I'm not sure if the whole thing is one business divided into different parts or whether Eurostar is owned differently from the chunnel part, even if the whole thing goes bust it will start up the next day again. It's a great way to get across the channel we use the car part every year quick and easy

Back in the 90s didn't they split out the physical entity and write off their colossal debts.. And start up new Companies to sell passenger and freight services with no debt to service?

Someone said to me the other day that Eurostar was one company and the freight, cars and infrastructure was another, have no idea if that is true,

the infrastructure is owned by Getlink, a public company based in paris. it appears that a good number of conservative mps are invested in the company. this increases the likelyhood of taxpayers money being used to prop up the rolling stock companies that use Getlinks services. ie no rolling stock companies then no dividends for conservative mp shareholders.

I read a headline in the railway press today that the French Government may provide support for Eurostar (not Getlink or the freight companies that use the tunnel). I hope that is true, especially as the largest shareholder is the nationalised SNCF. Incidentally,the line from St. Pancras to Eurotunnel is owned by a Canadian pension fund. Since SNCF owns a large part of Thalys (Paris-Brussel-Amsterdam/Köln) there are proposals to merge the two (as Greenspeed). When current restrictions are eased, I'm wondering what will be the future of the tunnel? I suppose it could be bricked up to stop all that difficult bureaucracy!

Lets hope we get back on track soon even if we have to live with jabs and virus variants. The inability to travel is really getting me down!
