Cromer

Found this article showing the main varients that have circulated since this started.

So glad we have the ability to track these things.

It's amazing the work these people do.

Very interesting just praying we keep our responses as up to date as their science. The tool is only as good as the trades person

"Agreed, a good article and this is one area where the UK really IS world leading, genomic sequencing. "

It is and leads in some other related fields too. It has its problems as the consequences of being first/leading is the mistakes it makes are quickly picked by those watching and quite often become the ammunition against it, much like the the recent 10 months. We forget that the UK was trying thing out other hadn't tried and took the risks others who followed didn't have too. This sometimes means one drops back as a consequence. If people here would read more widely and see what other countries are saying in their news etc many would change their ideas about our government and how they have proceeded with things. The problem is we generally only look at our own situation and only compare certain things, those things we see effecting us, economy, restrictions and deaths. There's far more going on that those things.

This is true and fair, although funding for scientific research has been woeful by the UK Government over the past 10+ years and you reap what you sow. I hope this pandemic shows the decision makers that proper funding for research is essential.

Has anybody seen the article by a Dr Tess Lawrie on her research on Ivermectin and her subsequent letter to Boris

Apparently it has good results on Covid

Norwich

Scientific research is pathetically funded in the UK. Across the globe, Israel and South Korea lead at nearly 5% GDP but a lot of that is defence spending. However, even in Europe, we spend less than 2% GDP. France, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Austria, Denmark, Switzerland, Slovenia, Netherlands are all higher.

What’s the point in just tracking them if we don’t eliminate them!

The B117 has now been found with the Brazilian variant - COG today.

We have been so slow shutting down our borders and now we are truly becoming the worlds Petri dish for Covid.

Agreed

The scientists give us the information to protect ourselves and the government prevaricate.
