A runny nose or sneezing

Get tested as these are now on the covid list and have to stay in isolation till your runny nose has dryed up.

When to keep self-isolating

Keep self-isolating if you have any of these symptoms after the 10 days:

a high temperature or feeling hot and shiverya

runny nose or sneezing

feeling or being sick

diarrhoea

Only stop self-isolating when these symptoms have gone.

If everyone did this everytime they had a runny nose the country would stop functioning. I had a runny nose for 48hrs when it snowed. Was nothing wrong with me. Should I have self isolated?

"In my last post explained had a runny nose and tested positive

No loss of smell or taste "

but those could be unrelated things

they have already said that with the new variant the loss of smell and taste is less common ... but your runny nose could be allergies and your covid asymptomatic

There are a lot of potential symptoms, well beyond what the NHS lists.

If you're exposed, you isolate. If you test positive, you isolate.

Not anyone with the runs or a snotty nose.

I'm lucky enough to be able to test whenever I want. I know the tests aren't 100% accurate but it gives me a little piece of mind if I am feeling slightly off.

No they don't.

This is false information and puts people off getting medical treatment for other things.

You are only told to self isolate if you have one of the following symptoms

A high temperature

Loss of taste or smell

A New persistent cough.

If you have tested positive or been in close contact with someone who has tested positive.

"Why is all this misinformation allowed on the forum?"

It is so confusing because people put things out there as fact not realising that people will believe it, there is enough false information out there already and often Because people read things like this and take it as fact rather than looking at the official advice guidelines and rules.

Yes he is however he is claiming you need to self isolate if you have anything symptoms and it doesn't say that so my original post stands let's not confuse the situation.

You do not need to self isolate if you have a runny nose on its own its is a simple as that!

It also makes it very clear that you do not have to self isolate if you don't have one of the 3 main symptoms this is why you have caused confusion.

If after the 10 days you still have symptoms then yes you probably should continue to isolate but not if you just have a mildly running nose so what you have said is misleading. Also if any of these symptoms persist for more than 10 days it is probably best to seek medical attention.

The only part wrong with his OP is this ‘ Get tested as these are now on the covid list’

The rest of it states have to continue in isolation after the 10 days of have any of the below

This is direct from the nhs website and if you’ve tested positive for covid, what he is quoting is correct

Noones turning a blind eye

There are no guidelines which state to seek a test if you have a runny nose

You could easilly have been asymptomatic and also had a cold which caused your runny nose

I've had a respiratory cough for 20+ years from materials I work around, ppe has reduced it by 99% but the inevitable happens.

Its not life threatening but annoying in cold weather.

Last year I was advised to self isolate 3 times because I had "covid".

3 tests...3 negatives.. Same cough, no one comes within 10 feet of me now.

Yeah right. Makes sense - not.

I have a runny nose 24/7 all year round due to allergies.

If this is true... all it does it ensure that I will never, ever take a covid test, because if I tested positive I would never be able to come out of isolation!!

I've never heard of anything so stupid.

As NHS Guidlins in the links above and as I copied and pasted."

And nowhere in there does it say you should get to test if you have a runny nose! Common sense is needed.

Well I guessed if the runny nose and sneezing are a sine of being positive after a test.

It would also be the case befor one but sparingly not well only for me and the wife.

Funny that.

So how new you had to stay in isolation till you did not have a runny knows?

Guess all that have commented?

If you had thrush on your cock and piles coming out of your arse then you tested positive for Covid-19 what would you think that meant?

to be fair to the OP he was only trying to say ... guys better safe than sorry my only symptoms were like a mild cold and now i have a positive test and reading online those symptoms might be related

i do think its much more likely though that it was just chance you had both and are probably an asymptomatic covid carrier

making sure the track and trace people know your symptoms though allows them to collate data about possible mutated strains that may have changed symptom profile which would let them update the govt advice if required

at present sniffles/ sneezing alone is not likely to be covid snd therefore doesn’t require isolation or a test (unless you have recently already tested positive)

"Get tested as these are now on the covid list and have to stay in isolation till your runny nose has dryed up.

When to keep self-isolating

Keep self-isolating if you have any of these symptoms after the 10 days:

a high temperature or feeling hot and shiverya

runny nose or sneezing

feeling or being sick

diarrhoea

Only stop self-isolating when these symptoms have gone.

This is not true at all. You should not be posting false Coronavirus information on Fab forum.

"When to self-isolate and what to do - Coronavirus (COVID-19) - NHS" https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/when-to-self-isolate-and-what-to-do/

Directly from your page how long to self isolate

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/how-long-to-self-isolate/

These are for people who have already HAD a positive result

Someone who just develops a runny nose should neither self isolate nor seek a test "

I know that and as said before he gets his words mixed up implying you need to test if have those symptoms. It clearly stays in his second part of the OP they are if you are still experiencing these after 10 days you should continue to isolate.

It’s a miss written start to the OP saying get tested if have a runny nose.

"In my last post explained had a runny nose and tested positive

No loss of smell or taste "

It is NOT noted as an official symptom. DRY cough (no snot) IS!

Manchester (she/her)

There are symptoms other than the official list

If in doubt seek medical advice

Probably good to try to keep germs to ourselves at the moment anyway.

Self isolate for a runny nose and sneezing......really?!

Our son can sneeze quite often, he would be on permanent isolation.

People will just stop getting tested.

In that case, I am going to presume they mean - if it's a new symptom - and it doesn't apply to people who have a constantly runny nose all year round.

Otherwise it's just beyond stupid. If I tested positive tomorrow, am I supposed to never leave my house ever again?

It is however very unlikely you would still have those symptoms after 10 days and if you do you should see medical treatment.

This is only if you have tested positive not if you have just been told to self isolate and don't have any of the other symptoms.

It is only if you have tested positive and after 10 days you still have the symptoms. It is not if you have no symptoms except running nose or if you have just been told to self isolate because you have been in close contact.

Also it is if it is new so for example if you always cough and sneeze due to hay fever or allergies then it wouldn't be a problem. If in doubt contact your doctor if you test positive. X
