False Covid Breach Accusation

Northampton

I had two police officers on the doorstep last night who confirmed that I had been accused of breaching Covid rules. After explaining my circumstances they were satisfied that it was a false report but refused to give me any further information. They did inform me that I should lie to get a test that I’m not eligible for though.

I realise there are bigger problems right now but I’m really annoyed and I just wanted to see if anyone had experienced similar.

You can get a test even if you don't have symptoms at Northampton Uni, the waterside campus near the Avon building in town. You have to book it on line. Just saying, it very reassuring to know you haven't got it.

could be u have a nicer life than one of your neighbours could be a paranoid neighbour thinks you have wronged em could be one of ya neighbours is just a c##t.as long as u know and can prove u not beoken any rules dont lwt it bother u to much

Thank you I will check it out - track and trace tell me in my daily call with them that I’m not eligible for asymptomatic testing as I am still required to isolate (day 9/10) and I can’t get a ‘normal’ test as I don’t have any symptoms.

Had something kinda similar happen while i was doing a course in Bedford in september. Police turned up and asked what was going on as somone in the retirement home overlooking the building we were using reported us

Few days later we had to do physical intervention training out side in the car park. Guy was using his camera to take pictures of us from a balcony from the same home. The fact we were all in forensics suits and facemasks seemed to be lost on him

It might not have been malicious, they might genuinely have believed you were in breach.

I'm expecting to be stopped at some point and wouldn't be surprised if someone reported me because of the journeys I have to make and other household I have to visit.

They were doing their job. They were right also not to divulge any further information. They were wrong it telling you to lie for one or anything for that matter.

Turned out to be a false report, that's good. If it hadn't been then the law would be enforced.

I don't really see much of an issue. It's good to hear they are following up and you hear on here many saying they don't.

Terrible. This is what's going on now whether it's people being malicious, stupid or just ignorant of the full facts. Some of what's happening is starting to get a little reminiscent of McCarthyism and it's not going to end well because what goes around eventually comes around.

Nothing new, people from all ages and walks of life grass their neighbours. The reasons vary but there is always a reason. Not many people just talk to their neighbours they just go straight to the authorities. Can be jealously, a falling out, blatant racism and homophobia, competition in business or just plain nasty bastards who just need to mind their own business or seek help to manage their own problems. So many people are calling the cops trying to get them to do their will and it is unfair on them to do so. However, the Poluce (abd others) are busting their guts trying to address this over and above the usual stuff they have to deal with. However, weekend duties with all the d*unk people locked down must be a welcome breather for the Police. Just hope domestic violence hasn't soared as a result. We can all be a bit better if we choose to be.

It scares me. It always has.

I don't break any lockdown rules (as a single vulnerable adult, I am allowed to bubble with family members) but I do come and go from the house a lot.

If the police turned up on my doorstep, it would lead to a full scale panic attack - I would be terrified.

People don't think.

If you've been told to isolate by track and trace, then you are not eligible for the asymptomatic walk up testing. You'd only be allowed to leave the house for testing if symptomatic and then at a facility that does the full swab tests OR a home swab test.

I don't understand the outrage to be honest.

Everyone is assuming that somebody has snitched and made a false complaint.

The OP said she explained her circumstances and the police didn't take any further action so to be honest I don't see a problem.

As a courier driver i have been stopped multiple times whilst in work, enroute to or from work, just show my ID and let on my way. Plod have a dedicated traffic unit and a unit to deal with resdidential covid breaches,

To be honest it was probably track and trace that contacted the police if they suspected that you weren't self isolating.

I'm surprised they are calling you every day, we only got 2 calls. The first one to say we had been in close contact with someone and the second on the last day to see if we had complied.
