So I tested positive for covid and fully understand now it’s absolutely horrible my symptoms have been no sense of smell or taste headaches back aches extremely fatigued struggling to breathe, anyone else here caught it yet and what’s your symptoms? X

My wife has had COVID

I’ve been tested no had it not got it

Same house same bed same every thing

So how come I’ve not got it had COVID

Wife was pretty bad she’s says it was more like flu

She did look like boiled shite

I had it just after Xmas ..no taste.. constant headaches .. nausea..no appetite .I exercise every day..I didn't exercise for nearly two weeks..so that's how worn out I was. ..and this apparently was the highly contagious mild dose..!!!..it didn't really affect my chest too much..my brother in law it did..it seems symptoms vary for different people..I never had a high temperature...my sister did..

This puzzles me too. My friends husband is in hospital not doing too well yet herself and 4 older children are negative. He is a fit and healthy 53year old.

From what I've seen with covid its pretty random. My brother lives in shared accommodation and out of the 13 people who live there 10 have had/got covid one almost died but my brother and 2 others haven't got it or had it

There are lots of stories of spouses not getting it at the time. I know of a couple where one got it and the other did a few months later.

There is still a lot that is not understood about Covid.

I had it just after christmas and was pretty poorly for over a week, burning up at times, shivery at others, constant headaches, nausea, diarrhea, dehydration, muscle aches, no energy, wheezing and whistling in my mouth and nose, cough... I think I hit every symptom going..

I'm still left with the cough two weeks later.

My mum's had an awful time. She spent most of last of April/May in hospital with it, at the worst she couldn't speak or eat as she didn't have the breath for it. She's home again, but it's left her with a chronic lung condition, she can't take more than a few steps without struggling now. Definitely call the doctor or 111 if you're finding it difficult to breathe x

We have not had it, but know quite a lot that have!

Two have died from it.

Several wish that they had died from it.

Several were really ill, still recovering.

Several a bit ill - no problem at all.

A few had it and didn't even know.

All tested!!!!

Me? I had loss of taste/smell, a headache and tiredness. I've had worse throat and ear infections from the pain and discomfort perspective. That was late March.

My Grandad? He's got severe difficulty breathing, wheezing, pneumonia, a slightly raised temp but not much 37.3°C).

Neither of us had a cough, incidentally. He only coughs to try and clear his throat, as in, it's a deliberate action and he can stop/not cough if he wishes. The main thing is he can't breathe.

The "classic" triad of symptoms only occur in a very small number of people.

Friends all had it. Kids a bit snotty, wife bad cold like symptoms but not as bad as influenza. Husband, late 40's, no underlying health conditions, triathlon competitor, knocked him sidewards, not hospitalised but still needs a rest at the top of the stairs.

I had a suspected case in May. Testing wasn't as good then.

Fever, fatigue, breathlessness.

I was in bed for three weeks solid. Friends messaging me telling me I had to eat and drink.

It was at least six weeks before taking the bin out wasn't a day ruining expedition, two months before I could do it without pain.

Three months until the debilitating rolling fatigue subsided.

A large study shows that the partner only catches it about 36% of the time, so you are the rule rather than the exception.

I had it over Christmas and other than total loss of taste and smell and a few bizarre symptoms that made me feel rubbish I got off quite lightly.

I didn't have any muscle pain or headache but I did get quite dizzy.

I did have a little bit of a cough and a couple of times felt a bit short of breath.

I hope you recover well, let's of rest and paracetamol.

Yes its weird isn't it.

2 days before it went which was on day 5 of symptoms I had just a horrible taste in my mouth, That was really unpleasant I made food quite a chore to it.

Something's still don't taste right, even now can't eat barbecue sauce weirdly as it tastes vile to me now.

Am on day 7 of myself isolation. Been in bed last 3 days, just totally exhausted, coughing away, loss of appetite, nauseous and generally feeling like 3 day washed up dog shit...its awful. Hopefully I am on the downslope now, but no way on earth I am fit to go back to work.

I have managed to avoid it so far but know people who have had it in August and they still have low energy and breathlessness 6 months later.

Its completely individual in terms of the severity and length of impact.

I got it over xmas. Came on really quick. Started with chills. Felt ice cold. Then my taste went. Slept 14 hours a day for about a week. Also had really sore bloodshot eyes. Thankfully im over it now. Had a text earlier about donating blood.

We both came down with it at the end of March/start of April.

I had full body aches and felt shivery for two days then started recovering then suddenly lost my taste and smell about a week after my first symptoms. That lasted a month.

My partner just felt like he’d been battered and slept for nearly 3 days then lost his smell and taste too. His only lasted two weeks.

Everyones' immune systems are different, including that you may have previously been infected with it. Asymptomatically, thus without symptoms and didn't know - and so have some lasting immunity that protects you, whilst she has it.

Last January, I might have caught it on the plane coming back from Thailand. Felt like shite for 3 weeks, stayed in bed. Worse flu I've ever had. It might have been covid but who knows! Fever, runny nose, coughing, aches all over.

I've just come out of isolation and thankfully had very mild symptoms. If it were not for the fact I get tested every week at work I would never had associated my symptoms with covid as I just felt like I had a cold.

Clearly there are different impacts for people who already have health conditions but I do wonder if some of the range of symptoms is due to the immune systems response.

This is a virus that has jumped species so it makes me wonder that to the immune system it is such a complete unknown that it does not have a blue print of how to handle the invader.

So some peoples immune response maybe flu like.

Others peoples immune systems go full nuclear and take out everything.

I'm sure in a few years it will be better analysed, but it is a curiosity how different the effects can be.
