COVID-19: Scientists cast doubt over claim UK variant is more deadly

https://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-too-early-to-know-if-uk-variant-is-more-deadly-say-scientists-12196650

And this would include half the world saying it was too.

So it's only the female that is more deadlier?

The report I saw earlier said it was too early to tell.

We know the is more infectious and that makes sense that there are more people who have contracted it therefore more people will endup in hospital and unfortunately die regardless of whether its more deadly or not.

couple, us we him her.

Probably pissed off with Boris for letting the cat out of the bag so to speak.

But I think we are all past the point of falling for scare mongering and just want the truth about it all now.

One or two top people telling us like it is, the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

So help them Bob.

We all know how deadly this thing can be,we just want to know if it's time to start planning for a future with permanent restrictions in place.

I did read that the new policy might be to under promise and over deliver.

We can hope.

Basically anything right now is based on numbers.

There's a number of reasons why more people might be dying.

Its winter, its spreads more quickly so infects more people, care home breakouts (people in care homes are most at risk for several reasons), Christmas mixing

Maybe it's more deadly purely because it seems to be a more contagious variant. We don't know enough about this virus yet to substantiate this. Just another cock up by the clown in chief Boris.

That all increases the numbers getting infected but a sample of 1000 is a sample of 1000.

Do we know if they are coming data from now for the new strain vs data from now for other strain(s) or from the first peak? If the first, then we probably do need to worry as treatments have improved massively. I would assume that they are comparing data from same time period.
