"Two officers were injured as they broke up an "incredibly selfish" party, involving about 200 people, in one of London's most expensive neighbourhoods.

Officers investigated an address on Beauchamp Place, in Knightsbridge, at about 03.30 GMT on 17 January, following reports of a mass gathering.

Two of the partygoers attempted to push past police, causing injury to officers.

"Attending or organising such parties during this critical period is an incredibly selfish decision to make," said Supt Michael Walsh.

"While the majority of breaches have been resolved without incident, it deeply saddens me that some individuals have chosen to assault police who are simply doing their part in the collective battle against this deadly virus."

No arrests were made.

The owner has previously been issued with a £1,000 fine, police said."

I am stunned. 2 officers injured, and yet no arrests were made. What message does that send to the officers risking their lives and wellbeing in trying to enforce the law ? If you get injured, no crime will be brought against those who harmed you ?

What message does this send to the general public ? Have a party, the police may break it up, but don't worry, no arrests may be made ? There may be a fine however. (200 guests paying a fiver each easily covers that cost).

The law has no teeth.

It does seem bizarre, unless there were only 2 cops and they were fully incapacitated. The property should be seized and the organiser made to fully pay maximum fines for each person

Well for starters a £1000 fine for these people is just pocket change.

£10,000 or even better £100,000 might have actually made a difference and sent a message.

Also arrests should have been made.

But probably well connected maybe the chief superintendents kids or something.

The owner has previously been fined with 1000, so this tells me he's done this before, there is no mention as to his current fine.

Is it fair no? Is it life, yes.

Cops aren’t robust enough anymore. The push towards alternatives to custody started years and years ago. They actively avoid arresting unless absolutely necessary

Maybe it is more a case of, no arrests yet, they may not have been able to identify them at this point.

There are multiple reasons why there hasn't been any arrests yet.

I wonder if these small minority of people attending events like this see themselves in the light of people who partied through the blitz, the British spirit of carrying on into the face of adversity, and sod the consequences...with a bit of I want what I want when I want and don't care if anyone else is detrimentally affected thrown in for good measure.
