Does anyone know what has happened to the nightingale hospitals that were built at the start of all this?

that they spent a furtune on?

I heard that none have really been used....

So was it just a way to line the pockets of some big companies?

At the start I thought there would be massive cues of the ambulances waiting to get in!!!

We think they are a bit snookered due to lack of staff.

I believe the nightingale is going to be one of the mass vaccination sites now. Beds and ventilators were moved out to other hospitals.

Bingo!

We haven’t got the staff needed to run them and our normal hospitals.

Yes they are open. Numerous facilities in Wales are open. England has Mancheser open, Exeter open and Excel open. Manchester and exeter are increasing capacity.

Exeter

The Exeter Nightingale has been in continuous operation since it opened. For some periods the Exeter Nightingale has been used for non covid patients in order to take them away from the main hospital site, but now it is being used for it's intended purpose.

Yes it was used for Out Patients and CT screening services. But it is about to expand its patient capability

Good to hear they're getting some use, especially when we are seeing reports of ambulances queueing for 9 hours to get patients into a bed. Even use as a normal ward to keep non covid patients separate is worthwhile.

They had time to increase the number of intensive care beds in actual hospitals in the meantime.

The excel is open as a mass vaccination centre, but not for covid patients.
