Saga announced today that all passengers on future cruises must have had both Covid vaccinations.

I can understand Saga implementating this as their customers are in the at risk group

Whether it follows elsewhere remains to be seen, for example under 16s aren’t to be vaccinated so do family holidays not exist anymore; or those that physically cannot have the vaccine for medical reasons no longer allowed to take a holiday? Will all be in the small print when implemented

It’s not something I see GPs doing unless you pay for it, just like you need to pay for the test

This is inevitable, and in my opinion the right thing to do.

If you expand this to flights, even attendance at clubs we could start to get back to.se form of normality eventually.

Of course it will spark a lucrative black market in certificates so won't be as easy as that!

It's a two way street, i'd be looking for some reassurances from the company also, they carry a lot of staff, visit many different places, I'd want to know what they are doing to ensure so far as they can, that everything is safe. I'd think they are going to find a big proportion of their customer base won't cruise any more. In fact all travel will be hit, I've been all over but not sure I'll leave the country after all this, who knows.

I think people maybe expecting a little too much from the vaccine.

If it doesn't stop people becoming asymptomatically carriers then what country is going to want plane loads or coach loads of British tourists visiting their country if their country is also fully vaccinated.

I read that too. Not sure how many people they think are going to have had the second vaccine by May unless they expect all of their customers then to be over 80s or care home residents!

I think this is going to be the big problem. We may well have vaccinated a large proportion of the population by the summer but most of Europe is lagging well behind us and even when the vaccines become more available they still don’t have the same infrastructure in countries like Spain to roll it out.

Sadly I don’t think holidays abroad are going to be back to anything like normal for a couple of years.

Marketing ploy to encourage those that have such to book a cruise I reckon. Having such a ‘card’ won’t mean no masks, no social distancing, no washing your hands before dinner, etc. Some folk won’t be happy.

You want to see the complaints about hand washing during a norovirus outbreak.

Mass inoculation only works when the masses have been inoculated. Infection control is about spreading, not catching.
