1. Only 1 Member per household.

2. 2 people may shop if they are from different households as long as they maintain distance while shopping.

Work that out if you can.

I didn't ask about anyone who has supported needs.

I had an email from tesco because I signed up to the newsletter and they did say that couples or adults who need support are allowed to shop together.

So if you are a couple you can just say you don't live in the same house and you will be ok but say you live together and one has to wait outside

The supermarkets' messaging about the rules has been poor and is resulting in a whole lot of entirely avoidable grief for customers with exemptions and the poor shop floor staff who cop all the flack when trying to enforce rules they're not clear about.

If you need support, you are allowed to have someone shop with you. My brother takes me shopping (I have autism and mental health issues) and my local Tesco have been fine about it.

I shopped in both Also and Tesco this weekend and whilst I welcomed seeing universally everyone wearing masks - at last!

I did see a large numbers of couples / families however shopping together

.... and before anyone asks - I had to go to both because Aldi had run out of or didn’t stock the other things I needed to get!

Please shop alone unless you’re a carer or with children. We also encourage you to shop only when you need to, in line with government guidance to stay at home.

I havent been in a major supermarket for a year.I cant shop anywhere there's crowds so i comprised.

I have gone without many things but going from shop to shop is irresponsible.

I guess it reduces the number of people on store.

A family of 3 goes in, all with unbeknownst Covid, my chances of catching it have now gone up, as there's 3 people in-store instead of 1.

I don't quite get the other one, yes there are other people in store you don't know who are also social distanced, so maybe it makes sense that way, but better off people just went in did their shopping and left. I suppose it is there for supported needs, even though you unfairly said to dismiss that. I assume it's just so staff don't have to go round along if the second person is helping the first person.

We have occasionally shopped as a couple and there are reasons for that which I will not go into.

We tend to go late in the evening when its much quieter.

We have never been challenged and I think most supermarkets don't have an issue with people who need to shop together, I think it's the fact some see it as family outing or a chance to meet up with friends.

It makes it easier to enforce social distancing. Nobody should be close to anybody else. There is no possibility that someone can say they are in the same household so no need to distance.

Good for both of you. People need to be a bit less judgemental and a lot more sensitive to the needs of those who don't have obvious disabilities which are the reason for their exemption,

The Tesco website states their rules pretty clearly. Basically it's one in, one out, and you should shop alone. Think maybe the chap on the door was a bit confused.

Exceptions are parents with kids and those who need assistance.

My Tesco's has always encouraged the one shopper per basket/ trolley rule... exemptions obviously for those with kids and who need help.

I am shocked as to how different shops are.. I am shopping most days ( before i get lynched I am a community and nhs volunteer). There is a huge difference when I'm going between shops. Some are still really strict others it may as well be a normal day.

All we can do is do worry about making sure we abide by the rules. I do like the hands, face, space mantra. Its easy but seriously no way are people using hygiene like they were at the start.

Those living together are more likely to be all infected. 2 people = 2 X the virus being dumped in their path. 3 people = 3 X the virus load.

People with poorer mobility will be in the middle of these large virus dumps for much longer than people who move quickly. Groups of people who don't need to be together are thus a much bigger risk now that we have a much more infectious virus strain - they provide the optimal conditions for all others around them to get infected now. I'd prefer people in their vehicles or, appropriately, not having left their home without good reason.

Support workers and help are essential, so not all groups are the same. It's easy to spot families etc together. They also talk, which sheds virus out of their bodies. Silent shopping is best, which would be aided by turning music off, which encourages speaking louder.

well distancing surely means stay apart , so each doing your own shop separately , thats how i read it ... so really they are just saying if someone in your bubble picked you up to drive you to the shop we will let you both in to do your own shopping, but if if you think you can meet up from 2 households and use supermarkets as a loophole for some socialising on yer bike jack

On the 6 o’clock news I have just seen the most heart rending interview I have seen so far in this pandemic .....

.... an interview with a man who’s wife had passed away only 30 minutes before. He was shocked and heartbroken - no surprise!! I think she was 48!

I defy any (sane) person to watch that and not be moved by it and then decide NOT to do whatever they can to try to get over this .... even if it means wearing a bloody mask - just like most of us do! Is that really too much to ask?? Is it really that insurmountable? Is it really that difficult to find an alternative way of doing something or getting help if you genuinely can not wear a mask?

Let’s just all do out bit to stop people dying ... and stop arguing about the rights wrongs and infringement to liberties of doing so.

... let’s help stopping other people end up like that poor man on the news!

There was no cat food in Aldi .... what do I tell the cat - starve!!

Sorry for being ‘irresponsible’ I did .... and always do wear a mask, I always sanitize my hands and trolley, and social distance!

I suppose if 2 live in different house holds means they don’t live together obviously so they both need their own shopping, there’s no need for 2 people to be in the shops at the same time if everyone went with the whole family they’d be rammed.

They tried to do this on lock down 1 , but again people took the piss and were. Waiting outside alone ( even though there a couple )then once in the shop would meet up then do there shopping together then walk out together,
