I'm lucky in that we have regular 6-8 day testing at work that we can sign up to. I've done this from the time it was offered to me and last week I had a positive result and have been self isolating since I got that result.

The thing is I have none of the classic vymotims and until today felt fine. Today I feel as if I have a cold coming but nothing more. No cough, no fever... Nothing.

If it wasn't for the tests at work I'd have simply been going about my usual days while positive for covid.

Just makes me realise now just how important it is to take care. Who knows how may people I could have potentially infected if I did t know I had it.

Yup, I could easily have continued my regular life most of the time when I had it. Lost taste/smell, had a headache and was tired, but I continued working from home for most of the time. When Mr KC came down with it worse and we had our 3yo to look after, it was harder to carry on and had a few days off.

And me, I didn't feel well but I've had worse colds.

it was only way my taste and smell went but that was four days after I did the test.

Just to clarify, I was taking this seriously before.... Always wore my mask in shops and used hand sanitizer. At work we have to wear masks when moving about but not when at our desks.

It's just that most of what you hear about are the awful cases where people are hospitalised (my boss has been in hospital for over a week now) and sadly pass away so thought I'd make people aware that you can actually have this and not know anything about it.

This is so true ... many not adhering to lockdown rules and going about not knowing they may have covid ... even tho they feel OK they could potentially be spreading it to many many more as boris said everyone should act as if they have it

Also people could go to their doctors appointment or the supermarket not knowing so its something a everybody to consider.

Yes I agree there it's also people adhering to the rules still catching it ect

It's difficult as if you have no symptoms you don't know but that's why boris saying only go out if absolutely necessary

Ive spent ages arguing with people today on fb about our asymptomatic sites... they have been set up to try and pick up more cases that people maybe shopping and not realise they have them... and being told " but I'm not poorly so dont need a test " its like they have been living under a rock

The government say to only test if you have one of three symptoms. Therefore to order a test online, you have to lie unless you have those symptoms. I think if people suspect they might have it then they should be able to order a test without telling a porky!

There are a lot of test places popping up that dont require you to have any symptoms. Nottingham and Derbyshire has loads and I know Birmingham has plenty too

Oh right, I didn’t know this. I just assumed the rules were the same whether ordering online or going to a testing site.

I get tested every Friday at work.

But we have 4 testing sites close to me that you don't need to have symptoms to use. It's a different type of test, but still worth it.

Absolutely worth it ????

I’ve been so worried about my secondary school children bringing it home without knowing and us collectively passing it on. I kept them out of school for the 2 weeks before Christmas. There was case after case after case at school so to me it was only a matter of time.

All be part of the trial or have work in an essential role like medical staff or been told to by a medical professional because you are in a very vulnerable group.

I've given up arguing with people about it. I just assume everyone is infected and stay away from them. Particularly the ones with the attitude you describe.

Northampton Somewhere

This is why they need to get a move on with community testing. We don't have it in Northampton yet but if we did I'd go tomorrow.

Sounds like the walk in we have here, no symptoms and no appointment necessary. However, if you test positive you get sent for a different test to confirm

The best way is to assume you are infectious & so is everyone else, act accordingly and lower your risk.

The prebooked testing centres are typically for those with symptom or exceptional cases. There are now many sites that offer the fast results tests, that you can attend without having any symptoms and you typically just turn up without booking

When I tried to booked a test on line 2 and a half weeks ago, They were the reasons given the you could have a test.

I then couldn't book for test online because my postcode never comes up so I phoned 119.

They listed the same things.

Yes. I know people who tested positive and have zero symptoms. Never developed any symptoms at all. The only reason they found out was they were tested because they were in contact with someone who had symptomatic covid

you dont book for asymptomatic testing. Just find your nearest test centre.. often near universities. Ours is also in our leisure centre... yet the one with symptoms is in a carpark...

Glasgowish

Due to our current situation i am fortunate enough to be getting 2 lateral flow tests a week as well as the other test i have been getting weekly for months. This outbreak has come as a complete shock as most who are testing positive have little or no symptoms. Even more of a shock as everyone of us has had the first vaccine.
