"Some Restrictions could be Lifted by March 2021, Dominic Rabb." The government need to get people spending money. Unfortunately, any relaxation will be followed be an increase in infections. Hopefully though, the lockdown and vaccinations will have enough impact to mitigate that. Cal

"If people actually did things like took advantage of the asymptomatic testing that are popping up and went twice a week like they are recommending we could probably be doing very well by the end of March... but so many people dont seem to understand the importance of being tested if they are " well" x" Not all of us have access to asymptomatic testing

We have about 8 within 12 miles of us that I'm aware of.

"Honestly it’s all bullshit what anyone says, politicians, reporters, medical experts etc. Nobody can know with the way this virus is when there will be less restrictions. I’m getting sick of this constant fixation of when restrictions may be eased, because people get their hopes up then start to become lax. I know it’s frustrating to be stuck in lockdown, but it ends when it ends. I wouldn’t expect anything to be much more normal until later this year or next at the earliest, I think we just have to accept that unfortunately!" ![]()

"Wouldn't get excited tbh. Some restrictions lifted to bring us into the highest tier below full lockdown. Non essential shops will open again but other than that it'll as we are for pretty much the entire year. Anyone dreaming about about a pint on a summers evening can forget it." Why ? Last year things relaxed a lot during the summer, this year we have the vaccine, we have far better treatments and with so many having either the vaccine or covid itself there will be far fewer people to infect.

I can walk to nearest test centre and there's at least 4 others within a few minutes drive. Lady friend in malvern has a couple within walking distance too. She's had 6 tests since mid November. I've not bothered but do have 2 temp checks every day at work....

All these predictions of spring or whenever are just toying with us, making out better days are just around the corner so stick with it just this little bit longer as they know fine of the truth were out it'd lead to civil unrest with folk saying fuck this. They aren't going to be in any hurry to lift restrictions. They don't give a damn if you're not seeing your family or whatever, they don't want to open things up and see the numbers rise yet again. They'll open a wee bit as I said but the majority of our society will remain closed for months to come but they will continue to dangle the carrot in front of us that it just needs 1 more little push. They think we're all stupid.

I am out daily ( legitimately) hence I've been being tested weekly anyway but welcoming these new tests as even of going out just once a week for shopping that is a lot of people you could potentially pass it on to. The test centres are a lot more aware than the shops and 1 in 3 people is the number they suspect is asymptomatic... so it could really get a lid on it .

"The Government now know they can lock us down with little opposition. They have people scared stiff. I think it's just people would rather try to stop a virus that is hospitaliseing and killing people spreading through the community." It hasn't stopped it though, it's worse and will continue to mutate

So it will hopefully carry on mutating till like its fellow coronavirus the common cold, we can practically ignore it. It seems worse currently as more are catching it than before.

"The Government now know they can lock us down with little opposition. They have people scared stiff." I think that's because there is a very good reason, backed by science and personal experiences. Without that, people wouldn't let them get away with it.

Viruses are constantly mutating. That's what they do and it's not always a bad thing as they usually get less lethal (we only hear about it when it gets worse, because bad news sells better) A virus that kills it's host is dead, can no longer spread and eventually will run out of hosts, whereas a virus that doesn't kill it's host can continue to spread and survive. Killing the host is a fuck up with the viruses evolution.
