"Think this is long overdue. It means travellers will have to quarantine in the hotel for up to 10 days on entering our shores. Picked up and take direct to the hotel and stay there for 10 to 14 days at their own costs....no more travelling by tube. A little late but better now then never. What ya think?" How do they get fed? Do they get chucked a couple of out of date sarnies from the Costa concession? Or do they go to the Luton travelodge via Asda?

"How do other countries feed their quarantinees? Thailand you are confined to you room for around 23 hours a day with a exercise period of a hour in the hotel grounds...its expensive but they pay for it." I would expect to be in the room all the time, it's my understanding that the "self isolation" of travellers makes no provision for a daily hour of exercise. Our students who arrived to student flats stayed indoors for 2wks, no time outside at all. But how are the Thai authorities providing food? That was the question, I think?

Set menu delivered to room...in Thailand they get 45 minutes pool time and the room gets a clean during that time.

Said the same...but it's never too late with more mutating variants of the virus every few days...I think it's a positive move which we should have done sooner. But I say with this it is never too late to close the stable door ![]()

From what it said on the news today when you return to the UK you will have to have a test 72 hours before your flight to prove your negative and then self isolate for 10 days in the UK. If you want to get out of quarantine early you can have a second test after 5 days of quarantine. But you can only get out 5 days early if negative.

"How do other countries feed their quarantinees? " I'm currently working overseas, I have to book a self contained apartment, with WiFi, private kitchen, and private bed and bathroom, thats what the rules say, I have to stay self contained for 10 days, i can get shopping delivered, or use takeaway services, paying online, same as in the UK. going out only for essentials or a short walk, I have been called twice while I've been here checked up on. I also had to have covid test max 72 hrs before arriving here.then once in country, I have to have another test done within a day of arriving and another 7 days later. Little over the top ? I'm not so sure, I don't mind it, its the rules, and if we all apply the same rules al, over then working overseas can resume some sort of normality again hopefully. Hope this helps for how other countries do it. Oh yeah, when I come home, I will be doing pretty much the same in reverse, except for the extra covid tests. Even though the country I'm in has very low rates, compared to the UK, im happy to follow these rules

"I think it's a stupid idea. People don't have to quarantine for 10 days when travelling across counties. Covid is already here. Negative PCR tests 72 hours before travel and 10 days isolation on arrival would work fine. The problem is people who won't isolate on arrival. But there's loads of people not isolating when they've been in contact with a covid positive person. Why penalise people who travel abroad when other people are taking the piss." We cant travel where we like though. I mentioned Thailand as one but here's a few more I've found... Several countries around the world, including Australia, Spain, China, South Korea and Taiwan and Japan. And there will be many more joining that list. Just because we didn't do it in march does not mean we shouldn't now with the virus mutating all around the world...

"No doubt there will soon be a lanyard available stating exemption from hotel quarantine on medical grounds." Not grounds for exemption, but you'd hope they'd allocate wheelchair users to accessible rooms and provide assistance with acquiring essential medications etc, eh?

"I currently live in a large hostel on three floors. We've agreed as a group to go into isolation. We have broadband but no TVs. We're given bottled water each day, a choice of meal provided by a local charity which they warm through for us. Laundry to be left in special bags and staff do it on site for us, bed linen left outside our doors for us to change. We are allowed to have food delivered and it's left outside our door. Rubbish and waste, we're given bags. Only problem is that we have to share loos and showers. But hey ho, to date, no infections and I'm rather proud of the younger residents for sticking to the rules." Which goes to show what can be done when people work together
