I stay at the holiday inn Twice a week. They deliver any room service to your door and leave it outside on a tray . Any takeaways you order you have to collect outside . The one I stay in is still fairly full .

"another difference from the last lockdown "

No it isn't hotels were open the 1st time round like they are now but only certain groups can stay in them.

People who have to have accommodation either because they are homeless or vulnerable, People on essential business, Nhs staff and people quarantining after travel.

Apprently here in cornwall hotels are actively encouraging people to visit regardless of the rules.

Brilliant idea seeings as we only have one hospital which is currently 8 ambulances deep outside a and e. And is always in black alert

Central

They may ask for confirmation of your adherents to the law, such as via s letter confirming employment stay reason.

Don't expect bar or restaurant open - they may get stuff brought in and all stuff sent to your room.

January is often the quietest month for hotels, so rates can be good, especially if not booked last minute.

Entrances may be a bit restricted, with fewer staff working, helping security.

I sometimes ask is fab for real.

Would you stay in a travelshed?

I had do go to a meeting. The result was nearly 100 jobs saved. Could I find a an open hotel?

No. I ended up driving six hours home after the same time getting there and a long meeting in the middle. Not fun

Why couldn't the meeting have taken place online?

A few years ago there were some still in desperate need of refurbishment, but now they all seem to be pretty good, stayed at the Gatwick TL recently & it was very nice, bordering on luxury, fancy ceiling lighting, huge bed, choice of coffees, nice biscuits, chocolate bars (free),so yes, I wouldn't hesitate to stay in a Travelodge.

Booking regularly through the business. Less are open than usual but they are easy and cheap to book. You need a letter from work explaining that you are an essential worker (care, medical, manufacturing, construction etc).

There is also funding available for those who test positive while away and have to self isolate in a hotel

I love premier inns , nearly every month ( when allowed) I stay in one for the weekend, it’s like being on holiday, yet only a few miles away
