Face covering exemptions

I think it is important that people make themselves aware of who is actually exempt from wearing a face covering.

Country to popular belief there is no list of medical conditions that makes somebody exempt.

I will put a link on the next post that makes it very clear.

The types of people that are exempt from wearing a face covering are people who have neurological conditions, Severe mental health conditions, Learning difficulties, Some physical disabilities, Sensory or developmental problems, And those with chronic illnesses that have been advised by medical staff not to wear a face covering.

It is also important to remember that because somebody is vulnerable or cannot wear face covering does not make them chronically ill or clinically vulnerable to covid.

Another things for people to consider is what kind of society do you want to live in when this is all over?

Do you want to live in a society Where some of the most valuable and marginalised people in our society are bullied And somehow made to feel less valid?

Thanks for that Lorna.

This whole bullying attitude about face masks is awful.

If people can't wear them then others have no right to question this.

I can be exempt but try my hardest to wear one. Most of the time, I'm fine. If I think I may not be, I try to stay at home. I nearly had a panic attack wearing one a couple of weeks ago and just about got out the shop and took it off in time to calm down. I could of taken it off in the shop and helped myself feel better but I felt so guilty and like I would be judged if I did so I suffered. People shouldn't be made to feel this way.

I totally agree and I am sorry that you had such bad anxiety.

I'm just passionate that we don't leave a legacy of making peoples already difficult lives even harder and making the marginalised even more marginalised after this.

X

I'm the same.

Let's look to those with the power to make big changes, rather than turning on each other

Exactly! No one knows what anyone else is going through or dealing with. So many illnesses are invisible but that doesn't mean they aren't real or valid. The whole shaming people shit show needs to stop.

Anyone can certify themselves as exempt and not provide proof.

Check out the DirectGov website, mask exemption.

If masks apparently work, let the steeple wear them because they are apparently protected. And leave the people who don't want to wear them, alone.

I am aware of what the government website says as I provided the link.

This comment is unhelpful because this is not about people that won't or don't want to wear a mask it is about people that can't and not being judged by people and not being lumped in with the won'ts.

Yeah, the "won't" makes life harder for those of us who can't or struggle to.

I was just going to say that "here lays the problem".

It is of no help whatsoever ever...as soon as I seen he had misspelled sheeple

That attitude is part of the problem.

I think that tie is done up a bit too tight.
