Chelmsford

In a local paper, in a poll of 1300 people only 6% said they clapped for Heroes and Carers.

Has the movement list it's way..?

If you’re going to have a wank, try and do it at a few minutes to 8. Then when you’re coming to the vinegar stroke it feels like the neighbours are clapping you on

Yep. And many NHS workers/heroes would rather people just followed the rules than give a half hearted clap just so they could share it on social media. Plus standing outside in -2 doesn’t have the same pull as standing outside on a summers evening.

You know I am going to try this now - not sure standing in the street having a jostle at -2° is a good idea

If clapping gave them a pay rise I’d be all for it. Otherwise I find it quite self serving. Who can clap the loudest, or bang their pots and pans the loudest to show they care the most

As an NHS worker, I don't support it. I know people's hearts were in the right place and I appreciate that but it was just a media performance from the government. A back handed tatic to hide the real story of being overworked, overstretched and underpaid. If they really care about the NHS as much as they say they do, it wouldn't be on its knees

Agreed, and same. Not front line here but NHS too. The front line workers, according to this government, are essential. But they don't treat them as such especially when it comes to putting their hand in their pocket to reward those who are putting themselves at risk EVERY DAMN DAY.

Totally agree...some folk think clapping etc will make the situation better.....it wont ...unfortunately too many people who just dont realise by mixing things will just be prolonged ....not good

This for me too.

I didn't clap at all in the first lockdown and won't in this one.

A well know joker in Jersey caused uproar when he penned a song, earlier in the first lockdown, about a named Doctor 'giving nursing staff the clap' on Thursday evenings!

Then when people hear you screaming YES YES YES they'll just think you're being really supportive.

I don't think they think it will make anything better at all. I think that it was a well meaning gesture to begin with until people started crowding Westminster Bridge and breaking the rules put in place to help stop the NHS getting overwhelmed.

Personally I haven't clapped during this lockdown and haven't seen/heard any neighbours do it (oh the shame that was posted on the village Facebook group if there wasn't a good turnout during lockdown 1 ). Don't really know why I haven't to be honest.

The last one was an absolute mockery. What started off as a respectful clap soon became street parties with who can act like biggest bellend competitions. Streets of folk gathering outside together to applaud the stay at home to save lives message. Humans are fucking idiots.

I didn't clap last time and I'm not clapping now.

This is, purely, distraction.

Unfortunately, the pandemic is just ramping up.

Clapping is a complete waste of time.

Maybe, next time, elect politicians on their competence and ability?

Y'all can have some kind of game show when the politician garnering the loudest claps gets the job.

My profile name might give you an idea of where I'm coming from.

Clapping is a complete waste of time.Didnt Nero fiddle whist Rome burned down ??? history tends to repeat itself ..times are bad for most....clapping or not wont get us outta this complete mess up....it will need a LOT more than folk clapping to distract
