This morning the entire house got nhs notifications that’s we have been in close contact with someone with covid this week and we would have to self isoloate

Now that would be fine but we haven’t been in contact with the same person since mid December and that was outside for less than 15 mins. We have not had anyone around the house at all especially in the last few days

All three of us have been wearing masks. When going out. Just feel properly pissed off. We have done all we can and we have been fucked over (was getting a covid test this morning anyway as had a light cough but being asthma and running at 6am in winter I do get)

I am going to do the correct thing and self isolate but absolutely fed up

Is it possible your next door neighbour is positive. Apparently the system doesn't account for a wall between houses.

There is a known issue that the underlying operating system sends a notification that you have been close to some one with Covid. This is following by another message that says you need take no action.

The other sign is your status in the app will change to a countdown clock which counts down your isolation if and when you need to isolate.

This is what we were thinking. I was waiting for a test anyway due to a cough from running but no1 had been tested positive

I am sorry the whole family got a message at the same time, on three independent devices. So basically that suggests all three we have been in contact with someone. Non of us have been out together, none of us have left the house together and been in the same place. In addition we have had no one around the house

My understanding is that the ping goes when your a device that is local has had a test and gets results. So for me I find extremely unlucky that all 3 of us have been in contact with a random

Isn't that the way it's supposed to work.? Perhaps someone at a supermarket? I can understand its frustrating but we have to stop the spread.

Does sound a bit odd but no idea how the algorithm works. This is where you find out the sons girlfriend is smuggled under the bed.

But it's not like passing in say a supermarket or outside. It's in contact with someone for more than a set number of minutes and the OP hasn't apparently. I expected one as my neighbour tested positive but all through, his wife and baby tested negative every time.

If you want to see how the algo works.

However in simplicity it's a distance over time calculation, based on the ble (Bluetooth low energy) signal on the device as reported by either Google or Apples api.

Most positives will come from a 2 meter proximity over 5 minutes. But there are other factors. So if someone parked outside your house, that all the devices could 'see' and they parked there for half hour that could fire a positive. Remember Bluetooth is 2.4ghz so goes through walls fairly well, and neighbors people on street theoretically could fire a positive.

To state the obvious, you are a household. Should one of you acquire covid, the household is likely to acquire it too.

I believe only one of you will have needed to be in close contact with a positive to trigger the alert to your household.

I hope if you do have a positive you all make a speedy recovery x

Well my test results came back negative so that’s good

Mum and dad sent theirs yesterday so should get by middle of next week

But still have to self isolate

Thats crazy!

One guy i know has 22 staff off from work because of the app. Its causing major problems and the company is struggling to function. Is an essential business.

No one at my place of work has it. We all just take a couple of days off and get tested if we have symptoms and only isolate if we know we have been in contact with a positive person.

So far only one confirmed case which put all the office staff in isolation. Luckily they we're able to work from home.

We are not an essential business other than its essential to our livelihoods. We need to complete work well ahead of time or the company goes bust.

The app could make us all unemployed

But it's not like passing in say a supermarket or outside. It's in contact with someone for more than a set number of minutes and the OP hasn't apparently. I expected one as my neighbour tested positive but all through, his wife and baby tested negative every time.
