I live with my mum who's 85 and at risk, and I'm on UC and I have a data entry test for a job coming up, 15 miles away from home. Apart from the covid rules,i am concerned i may catch the virus and pass it onto my mum.

Anyone else in the same situation?

I'm not really sure what you're saying. Are you saying you're being forced to do this test? Where does UC come into it?

They have sanctions (financial) if you don't attend appointments with them in person or on phone, also if they feel you aren't doing enough to find work, ie refusing interviews etc.

Follow Covid safety precautions during the test and have a shower and change your clothes as soon as you get home. You could wear latex gloves during the test and discard them afterwards.

Short answer, yes. I just called the employer and postponed now till next Tuesday. At least my mum will have had her vaccine on Friday night, so at least she'll hav over 4 days worth of it to work, not ideal but better than nothing i suppose.

. You may want to send a journal message to your work coach or case manager saying you have rescheduled the job interview.Best of luck with the job interview

What reason did you give for needing to postpone ?

Told them my predicament.

they explained they have strict covid rules and equipment and were ok about delaying data entry test. At least I'm not in the poo with the jobcentre... yet

You should be OK as long as you update your journal. Good luck. X

Sanctions were frozen for 3 months during the 1st lockdown. I'm not sure yet if the same will happen now.

The big difference between the 2 is now countless people have to go to work if they can't reasonably work from home.

Good luck

KJ

Thanks. Your right, lots of people going to work and risking it, I suppose I'll have to take that chance
