Differences in transmissibility can be predicted by looking at where mutations occur but only confirmed by infecting animal models with the virus and studying the effects. That's why we still don't have a specific figure for the increase in transmissibility of the Kent variant. Those experiments and data analysis takes time. If you search for The COVID-19 Genomics UK (COG-UK) consortium, they are co-ordinating genomic studying of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. | |||
